Nissan Qashqai 2014

Just to share with everyone, in case you're on an aliexpress shopping spree (like me [laugh] ).

If your wing mirror is equipped with auto-fold function, the window visor may not work with the wing mirror visor when the wing mirror folds in.

In my case, the wing mirror visor touches and presses onto the window visor. Eventually the adhesive on the wing mirror visor gave way. What could have been worst would be it may damage the motors that power the folding action.

The obvious decision, of course, was to remove the wing mirror visor, given that it's functions appears to be limited.

What function does the wing mirror visor serve and how does it improve your driving experience?

Don't know anyone have this experience like me. I got my new QQ in December. The headset always hang on radio. Wait till servicing and LK TC reset the system and change a new SIM card. However the problem came back. Went back again after a week and they change a new headset for me and current the problem Solved. But still monitoring.

Hey guys, am wondering if anyone experiencing the same problem as me. Got my car less than 2 months and even with extra care, I find there are chip off of paint here and there (heart pain). What can I do to protect the paint? I coated my car with those nano glass technology Polish but it's not helping at all.

My neighbour's car collected in Aug 15, didn't do pps n i see his paint swee swee no chips. But mine did pps have 1 place scratched n front bumper kenna chip. Hmmmm...... tomorrow me going down to pps people n see whether anything can be done. Try calling the pps people n ask whether something can be done for you. Saw some touting that pps can protect against chips n scratches, if cannot protect, why do we need to spend time n money doing it? Edited by Candilious

Don't be naive, if you are traveling at 90kmh on highway and a stone or gravel hit your bonnet or door, no amount of coating layer can save it from paint chip ...it's even more true if you speed on nshw... You won't wanna see how badly hit my bonnet is... Hehe.. my mechanic ever commented 'wah, you always go nshw and speed very fast huh?'...

I'm tempted to just conclude to say it's useless, but allow me to give a fair review.

I first saw this in gizmodo a couple of years back and thought that it was a brilliant idea. Never got my myself to getting it until recently. Searched for it on aliexpress and it appears that there are so many being sold. Most seller carry the same claim of shielding the side mirror from rain, and thus, improving visibility, enhancing safety.

Here's the reality; after testing it out for the most part of our north-east monsoon season, the visor only kept the top one-fifth of the side mirror dry. Effective? No.

I think the designers may have made a flawed assumption that rain dropped vertically perpendicular to the ground. In reality, there's mist generated from the vehicle and other vehicles around, splashes, and of course rain blown by the wind from the aft.

I guess, one would get better results of keeping the wing mirror clear by applying treatments on the mirror surface such as Rain-X etc.

Forget about those snake oil pps. It's just a car. The amount u spent on pps and etc, u can spend it on other stuff instead.

Or u tell the pps people, I dun care. You promised 5 years warranty, you better respect the car.

Neutral Newbie

It seems that this may have evolved from the plug and play to one where you need some specialist skills ? Wouldn't those who install car cam cameras be in a position to do this given similarity with what they do?

You can have your paint touch back up by paint brush at TC foc. But there is no way to harden to the point that it can prevent wear and tear .

Oh I shall try asking and see if touch up can be done when I go for servicing next week. Thanks bro! Edited by Jackzel

PPS is  more for protection against birdshit, swirl mark caused by towels, very minor scratches. It doesn't protect against flying stones or objects. Got to learn to be blind towards such things.... haha

Read somewhere here at around 60km/h speed power lost .

It will happen only at moving off very slowly until speed 55km/h . CVT shift gear up but rpm too low. Rpm will drop even low caused temporary feel like power lost . Car is confuse I hv to shift up gear but no enough power , down shift again.

This happen when

1) only at first moving off slowly rpm below 1500, at speed 55km/h CVT shift up.rpm above 1500 not happen .

2)on cruising not happen.

Like manual car , shifting gear but low rpm car will stall . Xtronic CVT do shift up gear .

Seldom happen to me as I dun drive this way , if I want to replicate this issue it can happen.

Sometimes see trucks filled wilth gravel to the brim. These Lorry drivers also drive like they are king of the road. Speeding overtaking without concern of other road users. Maybe they thought they thought they have class 5 license means they are experienced drivers. Cement trucks also, drive halfway also got cement pouring out from the spout. What to do, island wide construction lead to an increased demand of these building materials. Hiaz. Maybe some day, scientist will invent protective shield around the car.

I think u may choose to respray ur ride, as the shield may b more costly, esp if it's a new invention. mayb can use window visor material for making into car protector panels by fabricating into various clip-on pcs for bonnet, fender, door, roof, tailgate n bumpers. think handphone covers. If any manufacturer pickup my idea, pls invite as partner..

Saw one tiny ding on the door and guess it came from stone chip... Hiaz

They say the first scratch or dent is the most painful to bear. Very true.

Was chatting with a Mazda 3 hatch back owner , very impressed to hear about the head up display for navigation along with their HU which is at windscreen level. Ergomonically madza got it right (as driver never take his eye off the road)

It has been a month since the day I collected my car ... Still enjoying the ride very much and always finding reasons to drive it...this is my 6th ride and so far, it has met most of my expectations...for people lurking around this forum, please do not have the impression that this is a problematic car as jus because how it is generally painted in this forum...think of it as out of the huge population of qashqai owners on the road, the problematic ones are just the exceptions than the norm...this is UK car of the year for a reason.

Ya make it clear transparent only so that car colours can be seen.. Not a bad idea. Since i gave you the inspiration, that'll make me your co partner....

Anyone has a good solution to cutting out the glare from sunlight landing on the HU system?

Three solutions that I can think of;

i) a custom-made visor for the head unit. If you've read my previous posts on window visors and wing mirror visor, you must be thinking, this guy, simi-sai visor. I think it will work, but it may look ugly

ii) anti-glare screen film for the head unit like this one. But one of the review I came across don't seem to show it being effective.

iii) move to the west, and work in the east. The sun will always be in front of you when you head to work in the morning, and drive back home in the evening.  [laugh]
