Spanly 5th Gear May 28, 2014 Share May 28, 2014 Should have at least 3 stops. Actually You need to give us more info, like what time you set off, which route you intend to take to drive uphill....so bros here can advise more accurately. Should be setting off before 7am on a Mon morning. Would be taking the new/easier but longer route via Simpang Pulai... Target to reach around 3pm+ so unlikely to detour to Klang for bkt as bro Enye suggested... likely just stick to the NSHW. I suppose lunch shouldn't be too close to the uphill drive as may cause the passenger to be more nauseous? i remember one occasion i let my boy have too heavy a bf at genting before we depart... half way down I've stop on the roadside for him to throw up ↡ Advertisement
Adrianli Hypersonic May 28, 2014 Share May 28, 2014 I would be going to CH this coming June... which rest stops would you recommend along the way? Normally when i go Sunway or Genting, apart from the toilet breaks, will just stop for lunch/petrol at Ayer Keroh. For CH which is much further, I suppose at least need to have 2 makan breaks; bf & lunch. Thanks in advance bro! I suggest, breakfast at Pagoh and lunch at Tapah. Pagoh rest stop has their local food, mee sup, mee rebus, mee soto or nasi padang. And lots of small snacks like steam peanuts, corn n nuts. From here can top up ur tibits and mineral water or can drinks. My wife usually but those can coffee here. Tapah rest stop has KFC, Dunkin Dounts and Baskin Robins.

So far i've not tried the local food at the rest stops as wify concern over the hygiene... so always end up taking fast food(which is not exactly my liking except that they are cleaner, with air-con & less flies frying around). Fast food also may not prepare in a hygiene way, seriously those local food are ok one, thousands of people eating that everyday.

Target to reach around 3pm+ so unlikely to detour to Klang for bkt as bro Enye suggested... likely just stick to the NSHW. I'm not the 'rushing type' so I would make 4 stops along the way.... 1) Machap (bf/rest after an hour's drive crossing the Causeway or 2nd Link) 2) Ayer Keroh (rest/snacks or just enjoying a cup of ice cool root beer!) 3) Rawang (lunch and maybe have some ice-cream to freshen up!) 4) Tapah (rest, also top-up petrol if the kiosk is not too crowded) You need to make Tapah your last stop as it is the last R&R before you exit NSH to take on the uphill route via Simpang Pulai. Also, do top-up you petrol at either Tapah R&R or Simpang Pulai town before going uphill, as along the 1 hour plus drive up CH, there are NO petrol kiosk along the way!

Kangadrool Supersonic May 29, 2014 Share May 29, 2014 Agree. In fact, I have higher chances of lausai in Singapore after eating than in other countries like MY, ID, TH and PH. Fast food also may not prepare in a hygiene way, seriously those local food are ok one, thousands of people eating that everyday.

Look out for this : 254pm.jpg Good pic! If I'm not wrong, there are 2 Ayer Keroh R&R for Northbound. One of them does not have the overhead bridge restaurant. So the clue is to look out for the word "jajantas" on the signboard, which means "bridge" or something like that in Malay.

Galantspeedz Turbocharged May 29, 2014 Share May 29, 2014 Another question, how many of you guys are AA members? In case of accident or breakdown in malaysia. i was. recently expired.. have not renewed used twice in SG and once in JB. For JB, car was towed back to any location in SG, my preference.... RM550... WIthout AA, is rm700-800, checked with another workshop and the driver towing my car. Driver say they have contract with Malaysia AA so tow fee is standard. If tow to SG customs, middle bridge is RM 250-350. I find pricing reasonable because driver told me, as long as is any lorry/tow truck etc pass JB customs regardless empty or full load, must pay RM200. I personally saw him pay RM 200 to malaysia customs fella, so should be true. The RM 550 includes this RM 200 fee so i find the charges reasonable.

Karu 6th Gear May 30, 2014 Share May 30, 2014 Sound very interesting place to go for a short trip..... but nbzzz... the furthest I drove in is JB near the simi lj holiday plaza for live firing... .... but that one manny moons back..... dare not drive in so far.... some more with family..... Think it's safer to driver futher up north than to remain in JB....For the faster I get out of Johor the better. Feels relatively safer when I reach Melaka & PD. Feels relatively safer when I reach Melaka & PD. Got good got bad lah.... In JB there are more choices for food & facilities. But it is a big city and so it is surely more crowded. However it is nearer to home (Singapore) too. Out of JB the choices becomes limited. But it is less crowded, and further from home (should anything happen - touchwood ). ↡ Advertisement
