  3. Virtual telco Zero Mobile’s licence suspended over outstanding billing issues, company blacklisted: IMDA source: https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/virtual-telco-zero-mobiles-licence-suspended-over-outstanding-billing-issues-company SINGAPORE — Zero Mobile, an Australia-based firm that provided virtual telco services here, has been suspended with immediate effect due to failures to address outstanding billing issues, Singapore’s telco regulator said on Thursday (March 12). The company and its directors have also been blacklisted, said the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) in a statement. “This is due to Zero Mobile’s failure to address outstanding billing disputes with ex-subscribers in spite of IMDA’s reminders, following the cessation of Zero Mobile’s service plans in December 2019,” it said. The move comes after TODAY reported last December that the mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), which leased network capacity from Singtel, had scrapped all its existing mobile plans. However, chief executive officer Glenn Mohammed had said then that the company intended to roll out new ones in the following weeks. Despite Mr Mohammed’s assurance that Zero Mobile was committed to succeed in the Singapore market, the new plans were not launched and some Zero Mobile subscribers complained that they were still being charged for services that they had asked to cancel. On Thursday, IMDA said it has worked with the company to resolve issues with 230 ex-subscribers, which had been brought about by the cessation of the company’s services, such as porting over their numbers to other telcos. However, 12 of them have not resolved their billing issues with Zero Mobile. “IMDA takes the protection of consumers’ interests seriously. IMDA is investigating Zero Mobile for contraventions of consumer protection requirements under IMDA’s Telecom Competition Code, and will take enforcement action if there are any breaches,” the regulator said. “IMDA has also directed Zero Mobile to resolve its billing issues with ex-subscribers, and advises affected ex-subscribers to stop their recurring auto-payment arrangements.” If Zero Mobile fails to do so, its licence to operate will be cancelled on March 18, said the IMDA. Such an outcome would make Zero Mobile the first MVNO to shutter in Singapore in recent memory. TODAY has reached out to Zero Mobile for comment. 4. The Fiat Punto is the first car to have a zero star NCAP rating.. https://www.msn.com/en-sg/cars/news/fiat-punto-the-first-car-ever-to-be-awarded-zero-stars-following-euro-ncap-crash-tests/ar-BBGFYaG?ocid=spartandhp Do you know of any current production cars with poor safety ratings?
  5. I don't think this question has ever been asked in this forum before. I am wondering how many here have a million cash in the bank now (not CPF) with the house they are living in now (hdb or private) fully paid and with zero debt? Please note that I am not talking about those sitting on paper assets as some bros here will probably say they can liquidate this and that property to have x millions, I am talking about those debtless people with a million cash in the bank now. If you are in this category, it would be interesting to hear what do you plan to do with your cash in the next couple of years?
  6. I was browsing through some of the ads in sgcarmart and realised that there are some cars that required zero downpayment. How does that works? How abt the flexible loan package that they offer? Meaning they can loan 100% as well? Does that violate any MAS rules?

  8. This stance will change the price of goods and services in SG. I think it is a necessary policy move at some juncture, but the effects on the population may not be very positive. http://www.straitstimes.com/business/economy/mas-sets-zero-appreciation-path-for-singdollar-with-switch-to-neutral-policy-stance Monetary Authority of Singapore sets zero appreciation path for Singdollar with switch to neutral policy stance Marissa Lee SINGAPORE - The central bank will set the rate of the Singapore dollar's appreciation to zero per cent, in a move to support economic growth against a dimmer global economic outlook since its last meeting. The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), which uses the currency rather than interest rates to guide the economy said on Thursday (April 14): "This is not a policy to depreciate the domestic currency, and only removes the modest and gradual appreciation path of the S$NEER policy band that was in place." The Singapore dollar tumbled 0.9 per cent to $1.36 levels to the US dollar on the news. At 8:36am, the Singdollar was trading at $1.3626 to the greenback from Wednesday's close of $1.3501. The Singapore dollar has strengthened more than 5 per cent versus the greenback this year as traders pushed back forecasts for when the Federal Reserve will raise US interest rates due to heightened global risks. Thursday's shift to a "neutral poliy stance" is a departure from the policy of modest and gradual S$NEER appreciation that the MAS had adopted since April 2010, after the last financial crisis. The Singapore dollar nominal effective exchange rate, or S$NEER, is a trade-weighted exchange rate in which the currencies of Singapore's larger trading partners bear more weight. The MAS move comes as a surprise to the market - 12 of 18 private sector economists polled by Bloomberg had expected the MAS to maintain its current policy stance at the scheduled bi-annual meeting, rather than ease. MAS eased policy in January and October last year, both times reducing the slope of the Singapore dollar's appreciation path. MAS said on Thursday: "Compared to expectations in October 2015, the Singapore economy is now projected to expand at a more modest pace this year, against the backdrop of a less favourable external environment. MAS Core Inflation is likely to pick up gradually over 2016 as the disinflationary effects of Budgetary and other one-off measures fade. However, the increase in core inflation will be milder than earlier expected." "CPI-All Items inflation will remain negative throughout 2016. Over the medium term, core inflation is expected to average slightly below 2 per cent." The central bank adjusts the pace of appreciation or depreciation of the Singdollar by changing the slope, width or centre of the band. It does not disclose details of the basket, the band, and the pace of appreciation or depreciation. The MAS holds its next policy meeting in October.

  10. Quote from The Business Times: "For the first time in nearly a decade, the median cash-over-valuation (COV) for resale public flats hit zero-ground last month as resale and rental volumes weakened, flash estimates show." right timing, am going to buy resale this year. Question: will the COV be -ve, i mean the flat selling at valuation minus?
  11. Time to change tyres - 205/45R16 Appreciate any comments on P Zero Nero. Thanks
  12. Hi, I am kinda confused here: the shops in Singapore sell 255/35 R19 but no 255/35 ZR19. I asked but don't have. However, a quick search on the Internet yielded several ZR19, however all in the US or UK, not in Singapore. Am I missing something here? Have I been duped? I know Z-rated tyres are not required in daily driving here but it would be nice to know if I could have gotten a better tyre for my buck. Anyone know?
  13. Any bros eagerly awaiting this? Source: http://www.deadline.com/interstitial/?ref=...oscar-voters%2F Before launch, there was already controversy on the depicted torture scenes disputed by US officials. BTW ZDT was directed by Kathryn Bigelow, famed for coming out with The Hurt Locker. For those unitiated, ZDT was based on a true story and claimed to be the greatest manhunt in history. Lets wait and see.

These vehicle can easily cause accident to the driver behind. I spotted a silver taxi, SHD1310H, on sunday morning. It had no working brake lights at all. I followed it 2 junctions and videoed it. Video as from my youtube on it.

  17. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1080183/1/.html Move to have zero vehicular growth to tackle road jams "imminent" By Hetty Musfirah Abdul Khamid | Posted: 09 September 2010 1928 hrs SINGAPORE: Congestion on Singapore's roads has renewed calls for more aggressive measures to curb the vehicle population. One solution is to have zero vehicular growth, a point raised by Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong at a dialogue with grassroots leaders recently. Observers said implementing such a move is imminent as Singapore roads are nearing maximum capacity. Singapore's vehicle population has grown to about one million. With limited land, vehicle growth rate has been set at 1.5% for the next two years. But, is this sustainable? Dr Lim Wee Kiak, chairman of Government Parliamentary Committee for Transport, said: "We should maintain our current fleet of vehicles, not to increase further. Perhaps, given a chance, Ministry of Transport should consider a reduction in vehicle number rather than (an) increase. "We are looking at a reduction in growth, but what I will like to see is to reach the zero (growth) faster. In Parliament, we have been pushing for some sort of a zero growth, if not, even a negative growth to counteract the excess over the last few years. "They should release (fewer) COEs compared to the number of vehicles taken off the roads so that there is actually a reduction in the number of vehicles in Singapore." The reduction in COEs will mean higher car prices. Is this likely to get more people on public transport? "I will still strive to get a car, even if the price is high," said a member of the public. "I still want to own a car," said another. "If you are holding a certain position, you may need it (car) for the image," said a third. "I will give up my car, if the transport in Singapore is able to achieve the coverage.....(such that) we can go anywhere conveniently," said a fourth. Such reasons are why many say aggressive measures are needed to convince people to take public transport. One suggestion has been for public transport operators to offer fare discounts for travel during off-peak hours, as this is likely to tackle the problem of overcrowding in trains. Dr Lim Wee Kiak said that with discounts, more people would consider spreading out their travel. "So there would be spaces for everyone," he said. Buses must also become a more reliable alternative, said Associate Professor Lee Der Horng from the Department of Civil Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He said: "We must take some very aggressive approach. What we have to do is, other than the MRT, we have to pay more attention to the buses. "Can we provide more full-day bus lanes? Can we give higher priority to public transportation vehicle like the bus? Can we improve the level of bus service, have cleaner buses, newer buses, faster buses, safer and more comfortable (bus travel)?" Meanwhile, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said it will conduct a review in 2012 to determine an allowable vehicular growth rate. It also said that even if the growth rate is reduced to zero, there will still be a need for usage measures to effectively manage demand for roads. - CNA/ir
  18. dont think i saw this discussed before, but anyone went down to showroom to ask abt this? what are the terms n cond?
  19. Like it or not, cars will be greener (read: no more V8 growls). Even if there is some sort of speaker to replicate the "sound", it will never come close to the real thing. However, in our local context, owning a car with a V8 engine is reserved for about 2% of the population who are rich enough. Most of us would rather not hear our engines at all, not when it sound like moo-ing cows. Which means, Singapore, given it's tiny area, lack of space to stretch ANY engine and ridiculous tax rules, is an ideal location for electric cars. Although still largely impractical for families, the 2 seater Mini-E is still one of the more practical zero-emission car out there. Retaining the hippy looks of it's petrol-driven cousin, the Mini Cooper, the E looks pretty darn good too. (Anyway, the current Mini Cooper can hardly seat more than 2) If NEA meant anything they said about going green, perhaps investing in charging stations is a good proper step ahead. Start with the many multi-storey carparks here. Given the compact size of the Mini-E's charging wall panel, space should not be a problem. I'm no electrician or engineer, but I do think that it is not entirely difficult to hook up these wall panels to the mains. A typical charging panel Next, following the example set by the new City Square mall, setup charging stations in carparks of Malls, Office Buildings etc. Combine all these ideal factors with the low mileage that Singaporeans travel from point to point, and driving an electric vehicle might not sound very far-fetched. To this extent, the Mini-E is probably ideal, other than the lack of engine noise, it handles and drives like any other Mini out there. With 220nm of torque available the instant u step on the accelerator, and a top speed of around 152km/h, it will leave most cars biting the dust too. The stated 167 kilometers range on a single charge is also more than adequate for anyone living in Singapore. From point to point, if you travel from Changi to Tuas, it would at most use up 1/2 of the battery's capacity. However, this is only an ideal scenario. With space for only the driver and a passenger, only those who are single, attached or married without children might consider the Mini-E. I am not doubting the government's willingness to setup charging stations. Than there is the problem of getting people to adopt a petrol-free driving lifestyle, such as having to plug in everytime you park (which would not take more than 2 minutes??). Limited space, although there is still a 60L boot! Also, for the zero emissions dream to be realised, a standard charging format should also be fixed upon. The most difficult hurdle to cross right now? Cost and size of the batteries. It will sky rocket the price of the car. Than again, if the government is willing to give electric car owners a tax break, it might not cost much different from your regular Mini (applicable only to Singapore). Quite honestly, the weird weather patterns has gotten the better of me and this post came as a result of that. Let's not just sit and talk about it, it is time to start doing something.
  20. Hi bros im using this The grip is awesome but quite noisy What do you guys think
  21. If you like those gu wa zai and violent movies.... you will most likely like this movie. Crow Zero: About different school gangs rivalry..... and the gang fight part is much better than HK shows. Crow Zero 1 trailer Crow Zero 2 trailer I personally is not very keen on jap shows but i particularly like this 2 shows. Another would be... Battle Royale... 1 and 2 Violent movie but not about gangsters. About people having to kill each other and only the last 1 survives. If you are adverse to very violent movies or is not comfortable of your children watching violent shows or get squeamish easily, pls stay clear of the shows i mentioned

  24. If I have a car [sGA 1 X] (for example), can I add zeros in front so that it will reads [sGA 0001 X]? I've seen http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onem...ence_plate.html It says "The vehicle licence plate shall consist of the index mark and the registration number assigned to the motor vehicle." Speaking from a mathematical POV, it makes no difference and it should be acceptable?
