  1. Will it be alot from 17/205/45 and 17/215/45
  2. hello comrades, would appreciate some inputs here. thank you in advance. Tire Width vs Tire Diameter same size of rims with same tire tread design...which of the below will have a higher FC ? a) 245/50R19 = wider tires b) 235/55R19 = higher sidewall, bigger overall diameter. Speedo Deviation vs Total Distance Travelled. if with the above latter Oversize tires, the speedometer displacement is 5.6% from my stock tire configuration 225/60R17.....ie when my speedo reads 100kmh, my actual speed is 105.6kmh. from the below link, i found that most parameters had a deviation of 5.6% (diameter, circumference etc.) http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html now the question is.... if i use the Oversize tires, when my meter trip A for One Full Tank is 500km....does it also meant that the actual distance covered is 528km (plus the 5.6%) ? awaits your kind contribution.
  3. Come across different brand tyres and going thru their provided specification found there are differences although is having the same tyre size. Example between Hankook V12 & Federal Evo for 195-55-15 tyre size, we would presume it should have the same 195mm tyre width planting on the ground. I was wrong. Hankook has 164mm width and Federal has 174mm. Full 10mm wider. Hankook 205-50-15 has 172mm width planting on the road. Really surprise me. Just to share. All info provided by the main tyre suppliers themselves.
  4. Could it be true? http://www.autoincar.com/next-generation-h...s-than-1695-mm/
  5. I am currently using 205/45 R16 tyres Thinking of changing to 195/50 R16 tyres. Question is, do I need to change my rims? Or can rims support different width tyres, 195 and 205 also can use? Reason why i dont change to 205/50 instead is because if I use 205/50, the tyre will scrap something when I do a full steering turn I cannot be certain but I think my rim size is 16x7
  6. I observed that cars are being built larger and there are no secret receipt, either the car is being built taller or wider to create the extra space. Do you prefer the car to be wider or taller in the pursuit of spaciousness? without compromsing on look and performance? Regards,
  7. My car can take max of 165/60 R15. Anyone knows where can find? Checked at Autobacs and they don't carry any. Most of the 15 inchers are 195 width. Anyone knows?
  8. My rims shows 7JJx17 [inline P1060004.JPG] [inline P1060001.JPG] [inline P1060003.JPG][inline P1060002.JPG] How come the ruler shows like it is nearly 8in? Where is the measurement for width usually taken? thanks
  9. My rims are 14", currently on 175/65R14 Hankook centum. Intend to use until cannot use, which will be abt one yr at least i hope. however, i'm thinking of upsizing to 195 or even 205mm tyres, maintaining the overall rolling diameter the options are 195/60R14 (1.1% too slow) 205/55R14 (0.3% too fast) wud prefer the latter but can anyone advise on tyres of the sizes above? thanx.. also, i dunno if getz can take 205mm tyres. will cause rub? i'm interested in slightly more performance oriented tyres, i.e., no aspec DB pls... and i post here cos not all available sizes may be in the local market. the tyre calculator i used: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
  10. Hi, Currently I'm at 195/65 R15 (it's 6JJ so 6" rim width)...Am I correct? 195mm convert to inch is 7.78". If I keep my 15" rimI upgrade to 205mm which is 8.07 inch....will my tyre+rim combination look swollen. Or should I upgrade to R16 (cos 16" rims normally comes with 7" or 7.5" width). Anyone with 205mm with 15" rims ,pls help comments...Thks/
  11. Hwy guys/gals, Need ur opinion on wheels. Read somewhere before, larger and wider tires is harder to stop than a smaller and narrower wheel, is this true? On the other hand, bigger and wider wheels contribute to stability, true? Frm a 13" 175 width to a 14" 195 width, will there be any diff? Any adv or disadv to have a bigger and wider wheel compared to the stock ones? BTW, I am more concern on Safety and FC aspect. Also, can anyone recommend some good Taiwan/cheap Rims to look out for? Whats the general weight guideline for a resonable light 14" & 13", huh? Thanks in advance...
  12. Any cheap way to repair the above?
  13. I just heard something new recently and though you guys might be interested. I know most of us love having larger rims (which means wider tires too). I'm sure most of us would know that wider tires have less grip in the wet as more water has to be channelled out? We also know that lower sidewall flex from lower profile tyres aids in cornering too. However did you know what tires too wide are bad for cornering??? The reason being that the same force will be distributed across a larger area if the tires are wider resulting in lower traction. The balance bit comes in from too much force across a too small an area will mean total loss of traction if you push the car too hard. What are your thoughts?
  14. Hi, I am using 175/70 R13 tires. Saw 175/60 R14 specs. Suppose this is a wider tire width. What is the difference other than it is costier?
  15. As above. In addition, what is the currnet price of Kumho 712 (205/50-R16)? thanks
  16. Hi S40 owners, Can you help with the above? I need your help to measure your S40 boot lid width. Reason is, I am trying to find out if the S40 boot spoiler will fit my car and I don't know anyone else with a S40 Thanks in advance.
