  1. as above for handling, straight line as well as in corners
  2. Hi My stock tires are 185/65/15R. Can my current rims fit a broader tire, say 205? I'm thinking of changing to 205/65/15R. Thanks
  3. I've seen cars which have wider rear wheels... What advantage does it have?? Was thinking how do they do rotation when sizes are different....
  4. I am thinking of changing to a wider rear tyre on my swift sport. My front is now 195/50/16, and it shall remain at that. Wider front tyre may rub against the fender, so I am sticking to the narrow tyre. However I am thinking of getting a wider rear rim to fix in a 225/45/16 or 235/45/16 or 245/40/16 whichever the bigger one it can accomodate. This will make the car look nice, especially looking from the rear view. I am not looking for any performance upgrade as I do not promote street racing . Will the 'handling' of the car change? 1) Like will it cause the car during left/right turning to be 'unbalanced' 2) Will it reduce the acceleration timing? I think not since the driven front wheel remains the same, the rear is only just free rolling wheels(also assume same weight as front). Any comments? 3) Will it affect the ABS since the grip level is now different betweent he front and rear tyres.
  5. I'm thinking of changing from 18" to 17" on my people-mover for comfort reasons (less noise), however when i initially upgraded, I felt that turning radius was sharper with the 18" upgrade - i'm not sure if its entirely new to the wider 18" tires or better quality ones (18" high performance vs comfort GR30 on the 17"). Possible to downgrade from 18" to 17" and keep current over/understeer characteristics ?
  6. 1. Read somethings interesting about tyres in the Wheels magazine. 2. It was mentioned on page 58 in Ju7ly issue that wide tires tend to 'float' on standing water and the tread never have a chance to dig through to the road surface to gain traction. This is also the reason why snow tyres are narrower and have a smaller contact patch thna normal tyres. What do you guys think? Wider is not better than narrower? Regards,
  7. Hi I just got a pair of new tyres, 155/80 R13. My old 195/70 R13 tyres were relegated the the back, and the new tyres were placed in front. I wanted to fit the narrower tyres at the back but the tyre shop guy said that the wider ones are supposed to go to the rear. Is it advisable to do the other way around? My ride is a Kangoo D65. Understeer is bad enough with the previous setup but now it is worse . On the other hand, the rear end is probably not going to swing out mid-corner unless i do something really stupid
