  1. Saw the VW Sharan on the papers yesterday... I posted a thread on my dad wanting to change his Estima quite some time back.. Do you guys think , space and performance wise , the Sharan is better or go for Vellfire/Alphard/Elgrand? The Sharan looks not bad , 200bhp from a 2L TFSI engine is fantastic.. RT cheaper , FC better.. Please input your comments ... I am open to other suggestions as well..
  2. this new beetle looks nice and cute leh, got the 2 litre version with 200 bhb, not bad leh, and with 19 inch rim http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/article.php?AID=4342
  3. This Is The All-New 2020 Volkswagen Golf https://carbuzz.com/news/leaked-this-is-the-all-new-2020-volkswagen-golf 2019 promises to be a landmark year for Volkswagen, with the launch of the brand's first electric I.D. car marking a new era for the German automaker. Equally important for VW is the launch of the next-generation Golf this year. We know production is starting this June, but the only official images VW has released so far are some vague design sketches teasing what the 2020 Golf will look like. But thanks to leaked photos posted by Instagram user johannes.vag, we’re getting an early look at the all-new Golf ahead of its official reveal. The photos allegedly show the eighth-generation VW Golf virtually undisguised outside a McDonald's restaurant while the test driver stopped for lunch. Much like the 2020 Porsche 911, the new Golf’s design changes aren’t very dramatic since Volkswagen understandably doesn't want to mess with a successful formula since the iconic hatchback's inception in 1974. As expected, we’re looking at an evolutionary update compared to the current seventh-generation model. It’s still instantly recognizable as a Golf, but the new model appears to have sharper design lines and slimmer LED lights that match VW’s newer models. It also looks slightly longer and wider than its predecessor. The all-new Golf will be based on an upgraded version of the current model’s MQB platform. As a result, it will be significantly lighter and have a larger wheelbase than the current Golf, so it should offer a more spacious cabin and more trunk space. We’re also expecting the interior to get an overhaul, as well as more safety tech and a semi-autonomous system. Expect a range of turbocharged three- and four-cylinder gasoline and diesel units available at launch, followed by mild-hybrid version and a new next-generation Golf R, which could have as much as 400 hp on tap. With production of the eight-generation Golf starting in June, a reveal at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in March seems likely.
  4. Just saw the T cross launched at the SG Motorshow. Anyone considering / shortlisting the Volkswagen T cross for their next car? 6. Singapore actually has the VW Amarok sold here, by PI. @Mustang http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_overview.php?CarCode=12221 VolkswagenAmarokTrendline 3.0 TDI V6 8-Speed (A) Engine Engine capacity 2,970 cc Engine type V6 Compression ratio unknown Bore x Stroke unknown Fuel type Diesel (Euro VI) Performance Power 152kW (204 bhp) Torque 500 Nm Acceleration 9.1s (0-100 km/h) Top speed 188 km/h Fuel consumption 12.3 km/L CO2 emission 212 g/km (Manufacturer specs) Misc technical data Transmission 8-Speed (A) Drive type All-wheel drive Measurements Vehicle type Commercial Dimensions (L x W x H) (5254 x 1954 x 1834) mm Wheelbase 3,097 mm Min turning radius 6,475 mm Kerb weight 2,164 kg Fuel tank capacity 80 L Boot/Cargo Capacity unknown Brakes Brakes (Front) Disc Brakes (Rear) Disc Suspension Suspension (Front) Spring Suspension (Rear) Spring Volkswagen Amarok reviewhttps://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/volkswagen/amarok The Volkswagen Amarok is the company's first purpose-built pick-up and is a direct competitor for the Toyota Hilux, Nissan Navara NP300 and Ford Ranger, and provides an additional yardstick for the newcomers to the pick-up segment to measure up to - namelythe Fiat Fullback and the impending Mercedes-Benz X-Class. To keep up with its recently revamped rivals, Volkswagen has given the Amarok a light facelift for 2017. In doing so has removed the 2.0-litre oilburners and is available with a choice of two turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 diesel units, tuned for 201bhp and 368lb ft or 221bhp and 405lb ft. The Amarok did have the smallest engine in its class, but now its engine is the second largest behind the five-cylinder, 3.2-litre brute found in the Ranger. The model we tested had plenty of torque across the rev range, with 405lb ft available from 1400rpm. This does make the Amarok more muscularsomething the original 2.0-litre unit could produce. Whereas previously overtaking manoeuvres required plenty of pre-planning, the V6 diesel combats that with a healthy dose of torque available early on and low down. On the road, the Amarok is demonstrates excellent driving manners, with solid, predictable car-like handling. Where Volkswagen's achievement is much more impressive is the on-road refinement. The Amarok does not ride over broken surfaces withthe sophistication of the Freelander, but the ride is exceptionally good for a vehicle with a payload of 1110kg. The steering is well weighted, though devoid of much feel, but provides enough feedback on what's going on beneath the tyres to allow fluent, quick progress. The combination of a solid, leaf-spring rear axle, a low-range gearbox, mechanical locks on the centre and rear diffs and traction control means that most extreme off-road situations require little more than pressing the accelerator and adjusting the wheel so that it goes in the correct direction. Volkswagen's designers have managed to apply the marque's trademark front end to the big pick-up, which is impressive given how different the Amarok in size, shape and purpose from its passenger car cousins. The interior moves the class to the next level. Despite the low spec levels compared to Volkwagen's road cars, the build quality is exceptionally good, with tough but well-textured surfaces and an excellent driving position. Car drivers would notice the unusual height of the seats and driving position, but otherwise everything falls under the fingers in exactly the way that it would in, say, a Golf. As for standard equipment, the Amarok has three to choose from - Trendline, Highline and the first edition Aventura models. The entry-level model equips the Amarok with electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, front foglights, manually adjustable front seats, air conditioning, electric windows, and automatic post collision braking system, alongside Volkswagen's Composition infotainment system, complete with 6.3in touchscreen display, DAB radio, smartphone integration and USB connectivity. Upgrade to Highline and you'll find luxuries such as parking sensors, a reversing camera, bi-xenon headlights, 18in alloy wheels, leather upholstery and heated front seats as standard, whilethe limited edition Aventura models get an unique metallic blue paint job, 19in alloy wheels and sat nav. If the proof of the pudding is in the eating, then the proof of a pick-up is in driving it for 100,000 miles over bumpy roads. Given Volkswagen's reputation for build quality and reliability it's safe to say that Toyota, Nissan, Ford and Mitsubishi should be concerned, as should be the future incumbents to this sector.
  7. https://www.motor1.com/news/427097/oliver-blume-volkswagen-boss-rumor/ Skoda's boss could replace Oliver Blume at the helm of Porsche. The Volkswagen core brand is facing some major problems with two key products – the ID.3 and the Golf 8. Software issues are the culprit in both cases, and while deliveries of the electric hatchback haven’t technically been delayed (yet), the already built cars are in need of a software update before being shipped to customers this summer. As for the Golf, the situation is worse as customer deliveries have actually been halted, with Skoda doing the same with its mechanically related Octavia. In this context, Auto Motor und Sport is reporting some major personnel changes are set to take place at the top of the VW hierarchy. It appears Porsche's CEO Oliver Blume will move to lead VW and help the brand deal with the issues that have plagued the ID.3 and Golf 8. If the rumor is accurate, it means Herbert Diess will step down from his current role as head of VW, but will remain chairman of the VW Group. Oliver Blume’s role at the helm of the Stuttgart brand will allegedly be taken by Bernhard Maier, currently the man in charge at Skoda. It wouldn’t be his first job at Porsche as he joined the sports car marque in June 2001 to manage the sales division in Germany before being appointed in April 2010 as the boss of sales and marketing. In November 2015, Bernhard Maier was appointed as Skoda’s CEO. This management reshuffle within the Group could also impact Jochen Sengpiehl, Chief Marketing Officer of the VW brand. AMS reports he could lose his job in the wake of a racist ad for the Golf 8 published on social media. VW took down the controversial video and apologized for the unfortunate ad, vowing to investigate what went wrong. Reuters got in touch with VW to confirm or deny the report published by AMS, but the company refused to comment.
  8. This seems to be the best looking compact crossover from VW stable, although it is technically a fastback version of the T-Cross. VCS bring this in instead of the boring T-Cross!
  9. Hi Guys, I find Astra GTC is quite funky and energetic but Golf 1.4 TSI is popular among buyers. Under the boot, GTC churns out less 20 horeses than its counterpart Golf 1.4 TSI. There are quite a number of Golfs on the road but find that Astra GTC is hard to spot on. What are your opinions on these 2 cars? Would like to hear pros and cons from serious ownership's view.
  10. This Guy Added Rear Keyless Entry To A 2019 VW Golf R!?!?!?!?! source: https://www.motor1.com/news/382722/adding-rear-keyless-entry-golf/ An elegant solution to a simple problem. Let's face it; sometimes we buy a brand new car based solely on all the little stuff that's added to a specific trim or equipment package. I mean, who doesn't want Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, or even cooling and heating front seats? It's the little things that can make us spend that extra bit more on a specific vehicle, even if getting the top spec means it's price is already getting dangerously close to a larger basic spec car. Heck, when I was shopping for a car, I specifically wanted LED headlights and keyless entry. Those two things alone made sure I went for one of the most expensive subcompact cars as a city runabout. But what happens when you think you have it all, only to find out that other markets that sell your same vehicle have that extra bit of convenience that you crave? Well, you find out a way to do it yourself. That's exactly what HumbleMechanic set out to do with his recently acquired Volkswagen Golf R. You see, there will be times that you want your keyless entry to go even further; unlocking the front doors and trunk are good, but what about the rear doors? There are times when our hands are full and we need to store stuff in the car, but not necessarily need the trunk, right? In HumbleMechanic's Golf R, the rear doors do not have a sensor that detects the hand of the user, but the Volkswagen Atlas does. Out of pure laziness, as he puts it, he went out to rectify this problem by providing an informative video guide, comprised of a ton of research and tinkering. The goal is to retrofit the rear door sensors from the Atlas to the Golf. Heck, he even made his own harnesses to plug into the car's junctions, so it really isn't a plug-and-play thing you can order online.
  11. VW reveals the new Touareg, but not for America. https://www.autoblog.com/2018/03/23/vw-touareg-revealed-not-for-us-943371/ Volkswagen has just revealed the latest version of its first modern SUV, the Touareg. It's bigger and is way more high-tech than its predecessors. And according to Volkswagen, it's not for us in the United States. Instead, it will just be launching in overseas markets such as China and Europe. As such, we'll be missing out on one of the more gadget-laden VWs we've seen. The SUV will be available with a 12-inch Digital Cockpit display for the instruments as well as a huge 15-inch infotainment screen, bigger even than the 12-inch monster in the Ram 1500. VW gave this combination a name that wouldn't be out of place in a car from the '50s, or maybe a tech company from the '90s, the Innovision Cockpit. Volkswagen says drivers can use these screens to adjust many settings to adjust how the car drives, and to control what's happening in the interior and personalize it. The technology isn't restricted to the infotainment. Handling is enhanced with four-wheel-steering and electronically adjustable anti-roll bars. A full complement of safety features includes night vision, front cross-traffic assist, LED matrix headlights and Roadwork Lane Assist. This is a semi-autonomous feature that will handle steering, braking and accelerating at speeds up to 37 mph. Volkswagen notes the new Touareg is longer and wider than the current model, but through the use of aluminum and high-strength steel, it's 234 pounds lighter. Powering the bigger, wider body will be a range of engines including two diesel V6s making 228 horsepower and 282 horsepower. A 335-horsepower gasoline V6, 415-horsepower diesel V8, and 362-horsepower hybrid powertrain will also be available.
  12. As above, interested to get a Toura n, if the price is right So far i think can nego for: 1) VW link software (For Apple Car play and AA) 2) $6K discount?

  14. Thank you to MCF for picking me as a winner for the lucky draw to drive the Golf GTI for a weekend. Selected the available weekend slot from VCS, Fri to Mon. Met Amanda from VCS at 2pm on Fri to collect the car. Signed the agreement form and proceeded to take delivery of the car. Amanda gave me a very detailed brief of the car from exterior to interior, it was like I bought a brand new car. She handed the car over with full tank of fuel and there is no top-up required by me. And I was also surprised that VCS allowed me to drive the car to Malaysia. However I was not able to due to commitments in SG, attending NDP preview. First look at the Golf GTI exterior, it was stunning, looks big. Mine is white colour. The distinctive red GTI line across the front from head lamp to head lamp stands out, typical of the GTI heritage. The LED headlight and DRS was so beautiful, I liked it. The rest of the body was similar to the rest of the Golf cars. The rear lamps was nothing different to me. And this Golf GTI comes with front sunroof, thou I am not a fan of sunroofs.
  15. Guys, any feedback if I were to say plunge into the market for a 2nd hand Volkswagen which is coming to its end warranty? Suicidal right? Any bros done the same thing?

  20. 508 Mondeo C5 CC Which alternative continental sedan will you pick?I take the new Mondeo though I have some reservations about its blatant Aston Martin copied front grille.
  21. Well, some of my insider sources suggest that the pricing of the Toyota Avanza 1.5 which they will be bringing in within this year is benchmarked against the VW Touran 1.4 TSI. Considering that the likelihood of the Avanza's OMV to be less than $20k is very high, it is quite laughable that Borneo Motors' & Toyota's head are still up in the clouds to conceptualize such a pricing, especially in today's COE climate. Its seriously a no-brainer to choose the Touran over the Avanza. The Avanza has the virtues for being a very simple vehicle, armed with a primitive 4-speeder auto-box with an equally anemic 1.5 litre engine. The Touran on the other hand is much more well-built with up-to-date drivetrain (7 DSG), engine (1.4 twincharged) and safety equipment. Even the curb weight difference is telling (1410 kg vs 1095kg)... The question is will you buy a $100k+++ mini-MPV meant for developing markets such as Indonesia and Philippines? For sure i won't...
  22. Anyone going? http://www.golfgti.com.sg/registration/vde
  23. [extract] The 1.4-litre TSI variant of the VW Passat has finally arrived in Singapore although it has been available in Europe for some time now. The new 1.4-litre Passat now takes over as the base model of the range from the 1.8-litre. It epitomizes the rising
