The Nissan GT Academy has proven that hardcore gamers can become real-life racers, but Viagame wanted to see what would happen if a gamer raced head-to-head against a racer... in real time. To accomplish this, Viagame recruited a top gamer from Sweden and put him up against a racer for a one-lap sprint around Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona. To make the head-to-head race as close as possible, a full racing simulator was installed in the passenger seat of a Renault Megane RS, and both drivers "raced" the same car on the same track at the same time. We don't want to give away the winner, but both men had unique challenges. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oa5Q73Fmup8 From the gamer's perspective, it must have been interesting to race virtually but deal with real g-forces that may not have matched up where he was on the track. On the other hand, the racer actually had to drive the car in real life instead of the gamer's virtual world – note the hand-over-hand steering wheel action by the gamer at about the two minute mark. Watch the two race, and let us know what you think of the results in the Comments.

One of PlayStation’s popular titles, Gran Turismo, will launch a sixth version on the eve of its 15th anniversary next month with a smattering of spectacular new rides. Mercedes-Benz is one of the manufacturers to have fully engaged its marketing engine for the launch and is helping to kick-off the virtual exercise with a spectacular 585bhp virtual concept named the AMG Vision Gran Turismo. The project reportedly started because of a challenge put forward by Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi. He asked design studios from all across the globe to come up with a concept using the theme “Vision Gran Turismo”. A handful of these, including the AMG Vision Gran Turismo, were selected to be transferred to the virtual world where they will be available in Gran Turismo 6 through online updates. But for Mercedes, the challenge was also an opportunity to explore future design. For the German automaker, future design looks to contain extreme proportions, sensual contours and a high-tech quality. Signature styling elements for the brand are also present, including a long hood, compact greenhouse and broad shoulders. Like the recent Mercedes-Benz SLS and the 300SL from the ’50s, the Vision Gran Turismo comes complete will gullwing doors. Players will be able to drive the new supercar when Gran Turismo 6 launches in December.

Race Driver: Grid is a video game by Codemasters - the same developers of the recent slew of F1 games and Dirt rally car racing series. The sequel, Grid 2, is an upcoming video game by the same developers to be released in a couple of days on PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows OS. Most video games like God of War, Halo and Call of Duty, among others, usually retail a limited, exclusive or collectors packaging. They often contain a few value add items like DLC, in game character skins, maps, weapons or in the case of Call of Duty - you get night vision goggles or remote controlled 'surveillance vehicle'. As part of the new game, the marketing team for Codemasters have unveiled a new Grid 2: Mono Edition and with it you get the game (obviously), a PlayStation 3 and an actual 273km/h capable BAC Mono car - in full Grid 2 livery and full driver race wear for the ultimate racing experience. By the way, did I mention it costs roughly 125,000 of the queens money (S$238,727) ?

GRID 2 multiplayer revealed - beat your friends on the track
RchLuvSlly posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
If you're a fan of cars and races, I bet you would love to play GRID 2, a racing game developed by Codemaster. The game is set to hit the shelves in over a month's time now. That said, it isn't hard to see why the developers are keeping their lips sealed tightly. However, it seems like they just can't resist giving us some insights into the multiplayer aspect of the game, which is quite interesting, I would say. The multiplayer mode (shown in the accompanying video) in the game is a good way of showing off your racing skills to 11 other competitiors on the same track as you. Imagine the feeling of being able to defeat all 11 other racers on the track, it's just a feeling nothing can replace, ah, how nice-

Turn 10 is back with another DLC this time for its new racing game - Forza Horizon - speaking of which my copy is collecting dust somewhere in my room, hmm. Anyway, each month Turn 10 offers a variety of drool-worthy rides to add to your virtual garage. The December IGN Car pack does just that and does not dissapoint. 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Halo Edition Celebrating the release of Halo 4, another exclusive title from Microsoft, this Ford Raptor is tough enough for Master Chief himself. Finished in a custom UNSC paint job, its was designed by 343 Industries - the developers of Halo 4. 2008 Aston Martin DBS Aston Martin's Ulrich Bez sums up the DBS as "brutal, but dressed in a black tie." The new DBS - famously flipped by Bond in Casino Royale replaced the Vanquish at the time was the fastest Aston thanks to a potent 510bhp V-12. 2012 Ferrari F12berlinetta Ferrari's fastest road car ever and with 740bhp offers as much power as its F1 counterpart. Do I have to say anything more? 2006 Ford GTX1 Built specifically for the 2006 SEMA show, the Ford GTX1 was crafted by Mark Gerisch of Genaddi Design. Design inspiration came from the 1966 Sebring-winning Ford GTX roadster with a functional and innovative roof system comprised of four hard panels. The car is powered by a near 550bhp 5.4-litre supercharged V-8. 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha Open Top The Hummer H1 is probably the most dominant and capable off-road vehicle ever created - minus road practicality. Demanding attention, this 'tank on wheels' was never meant for commercial production. At 7,500 pounds, it can literary eat other cars. Despite its large frame, it could do 300bhp. 1993 McLaren F1 Conceived by Gordon Murray, the McLaren F1 translates Formula Technology in a road car. The McLaren F1 took more than 30 years to reach fruition but when it finally entered production it was the performance benchmark breaking several speed records and held to it untill the introdcution of the Bugatti Veyron. With its unique central seating and BMW sourced 6.1-litre V12 good for 627bhp. In five years of production only 107 were ever built including prototypes and special editions. 1971 AMC Javelin-AMX Some Corvette looking muscle car which is this months free sample car. Not really a muscle car fan, sorry. The Forza Horizon December IGN Car Pack will be available December 4th for 400 Microsoft points or 240 points for each car. In addition to the cars there are a brand new set of Community Rivals Mode events. The December IGN Car Pack will be automatically available to owners of the Forza Horizon Season Pass.

From the land that brings us the Transformers cartoon series comes a new Japanese franchise with a similar concept. Called the Chō Soku Henkei Gyrozetter, the new franchise has licensed several Japanese hot performance vehicles such as the Toyota 86, Mazda RX-8, Nissan GT-R and Mitsubishi Evo. Created by Square Enix, the company behind the Final Fantasy video game franchise and Dragon Quest Series, Chō Soku Henkei Gyrozetter was first launched recently as an arcade game with an animated film version set to be released later this year. Will the new film be able to achieve the same success as the trend setter, Transformers? That reminds to be seen. Transformers has transcend generations and has moved from the TV box to the movie screen. That is an achievement that is hard to beat. Photo Credit: CarScoop

New Forza game aims to combine fun of racing with social networking
PetrolHead posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Turn 10 studios the developers of the well received Forza Motorsport series of games have allowed gamers and motor-heads to experience some of the best pieces of metal and cylinders on some of the finest of the race tracks, the latest being Forza 4. Now the Forza franchise is heading in a new direction. Forza Horizon, was officially announced at the E3 convention in Los Angeles. Developed together with Britain's Playground Games, known for producing games like GRID and DiRT, Forza Horizon heads into Need For Speed turf. Turn 10 Studios describes the Horizon as an action racing game. "Action racing is all about pick-up-and-play fun. This game has been designed so that if you love driving cars fast, if you love smashing through stuff, weaving in and out of traffic, you're going to be able to jump right in and have fun straight away,"says the developers. "What Horizon brings to the genre is authenticity, that's what Forza stands for. In the past there's been a problem with open road driving games in that they can feel a little arcadey. The problem with arcadey games is that the cars all start to feel the same. That doesn't work for Forza. In Forza the car is the star." The Horizon Festival The main part of Forza Horizon is the Horizon Festival. Its basically a Sims: Auto Fetstival DLC together with Facebook so to speak - A virtual place for car enthusiasts to gather. A mecca for car lovers. Besides hanging out with your car enthusiast buddies, you can race in festival competitions to further your careers, with events becoming more and more difficult. Just like in Forza Motorsports, any races can be done in individual mode or in online multiplayer mode. From the track to the open road For the most part, Forza Motorsport is on the racetrack. In Forza Horizon, you get to the open road. For inspiration the developers turned to the mountain roads of Colorado where they spent four months taking photos and videos to create the virtual world of Horizon, which has been polished to make sure that it's a fun driving experience wherever you go. Also for the first time players can drive off-road, among 65 other surface types in the game. Getting excited already? What if I mentioned you can also race at night, and AI traffic will be present on the open roadways, with some yet-to be announced special races as well. Looks like Forza is extremely inspired by the NFS Blockbuster, the Hot Pursuit which was developed by Criterion games, the guys who did Burnout. Kinect will also play a part for the voice-activated GPS system. Developers found the game's roads to be so expansive that the GPS system will direct players where to go and guide them to their next race or mission. The cars The full Forza Horizon car list won't be announced until later this summer, but the teaser gives us a bleak idea. The new 2013 SRT Viper will definitely be included, well it is featured on the cover art. So essentially what they are developing is the lovechild of Forza/Grand Turismo and Brunout/Need For Speed. Actually, what Turn 10 is really developing is an alternative to NFS:Shift and NFS: Shift Unleashed. I'm a bit of a gamer, and I've tried all the games mentioned here, and being a motornut, I cannot wait for the Forza Horizon. Forza Horizon will be on sale October 23rd.-
