  1. I had to leave my car at the Grandstand (Old Turf Club) for a few days to troubleshoot a starting problem. I figured I'd better rent a car from there to tide me over the few car-less days. I accessed sgcarmart.com and called a car rental company cum car dealer located at the same car mall, after seeing it had a Picanto (M), which I fancied for its low rental price and fun-to-drive appeal. I called and was told its available. 10 minutes later, I walked over to the shop and was told by the female sales consultant that it was not available anymore. She said "the car didn't come back, what can I do?" At that moment I feel I had been lied to and snooked, but well, OK lor, so I settled for the next cheapest model which was an old Suzuki Liana (M). It costs a reasonable $60 a day but I was persuaded by her to take the car for 3 days @$50/day instead. I thought about it and agreed. Paid up $150 + $300 deposit in NETS. I was then informed that Insurance coverage was 3rd Party only, with an excess of $2500. Own damage - you make good at your own costs..Gulp! OK lor, I then prayed for good luck. Upon car collection, I found it was dirty inside and outside, and comes standard with a pair of drive-shafts that crackled very loudly when you apply a small amount of steering lock. It was damn embarrassing and I fear that the couplings would break. It was almost un-driveable. I decided to returned the car after 1 day, although I paid for 3 days. I asked for a small rebate on my rental fees, thinking that both parties stood to gain; I get back some money, and they can release the car for rental income again for the next 2 days. My request was refused, the same sales consultant insisted that I had agreed to rent for 3 days and no premature return is allowed. Well.. OK Lor! What to do! I lose again lor! Returned the car grudgingly. Then the sales consultant told me they can't return my $300 deposit back immediately as the boss was not around to sign the cheque and they don't have any cash (!?!?). Unbelievable. Promised to pop a cheque into my bank account the next day. OK Lor! The next day, the promised drop cheque didn't happen. I got a call at 6:30pm from the sales consultant, saying that she didn't receive my account number via SMS (when I had sent it to her HP in front of her the previous day). Crap! AND the boss now insisted that I come pick up the deposit by hand. I was like...WTF! I told her OK I will pick up the deposit by hand personally but this they have just made this already less-than-pleasant experience with IGUA MOTORING totally unpalatable! It somehow also cements the general perception that car dealers are less than scrupulous people...sad! Or maybe I am just a cheapskate!
  2. Pump Station : Serangoon Garden Shell Date and Time : 24sept11 2250hrs Sian, encountered a really snobbish driver just now. Drove in the station for Vpower, the 1st 2 pumps had cones with 'refuelling in progress' signage. Saw a car parking BESIDE curb, few metres away from entrance to 7-11 and possibly beside the 1st pump a car body width away, so I drove pass and seeing ahead all pumps were occupied, i stopped just before the 2nd pump which is not in service also as mentioned. Then i heard the car that parked BESIDE the curb horned for no reason, i turned my head and saw the LL face driver waving at me exasperatingly, showing the hand palm face up sign while still horning. Then I realised he was ACTUALLY waiting for his turn BESIDE the curb. So i just waved back exasperatingly too for him to drive ahead of me to the pump that was just vacated lor. As this drama unfolded, there was actually no car behind, so do u think i know he was actually queuing and i wanted to jump queue? Actually wanted to let this small matter pass, but as i drove pass his car and he got down and gave me the LL look of 'u want to jump queue issit?'. I really cannot stand it but to wind down the window and told him, 'how i know you are waiting?' You know what his reply? 'den what, u think i looking at the scenery?' Ya right looking at the scenery parking BESIDE the curb waiting. With this kind of remark, few mins left for Vpower promo and on my way to work, i knew its no point arguing and waste my time on this kind of ppl. Really made my day and just wanted to vent it out. Thanks for reading.

  4. Fm Straits Times forum. Unpleasant Chinese New Year on the road I WAS travelling along Hougang Central towards Hougang Avenue 10 at about 4.50pm last Thursday when an SBS Transit bus suddenly swerved into my lane. Fortunately, I was able to stop in time and there were no other vehicles behind me. Without consideration for other road users, the bus driver had swerved into my lane because he was trying to pass a taxi that had stopped on his. At the next traffic junction, he proceeded to shout at me and challenged me to lodge a complaint. Is this the proper attitude for someone who works for a public service provider? Phay Teck Jin Buses these days, ever since the ruling on give way to buses, these arse holes anyhow chut pattern. Personally, I swerve back into the farker's lane and stop then move off slowly.
  5. guys, i have driven into malaysia few weeks ago and encounter quite a number of times on nshw whereby malaysian cars come pushing . generally i feel that i am on their turf so i better change lane give way . end up the pursue didnt stop.sigh and many times i have to on hazard light and give hand sign to ask them to over take . the worst part is when i was driving along chero village road in pahang , i made a U turn back along a same stretch of road which i have already passed by 10 mins ago . end up i was being stopped by one mad guy who is standing in the middle of the road with a bike helmet.i slowed down and stopped infront of him .that bugger came to the side of my car and bang his helmet on my bonnet and demanded i come out of my car.at that point of time my window is half open .i refused to come down and told him anything we can talk nicely , he then put his hand into the 1/2 opened window and try to snatch my car key out of my ignition .WTH! but i grabbed and hold on to his hand and snatch it back. then here came his few fellow villagers who claim i was driving too fast , and wat if children dash out of the roads . my galfriend kept apologising to them but they dont accept and kept demanding me get out of my ride.end up traffic was building up behind and they ask me to drive one side and get out of the car , as i move my car to the side i just launch off and that bugger flung his helmet towards my rear wind screen .luckily was fast enough and didnt got hit. so guys do take note when driving up these small villages in malaysia.i believe i didnt drive that fast to get stopped actually.even those bus skolas are travelling faster than me .but they are just out to pick on singapore cars.oh ya , ALWAYS MAKE IT A HABIT TO LOCK YOUR DOORS THE MOMENT YOU GOT INTO YOUR CAR Drive safe.
  6. my fren made a purchase of a swift sports 4 mths ago from a PI. it was known in the agreement that she wanted a red. and after making known to the SE a few days later that she specifically wanted an 08 model, the SE counter signed on the original copy of the agreement. Apparently, pressure was added to the PI on the 3.5 months when she still did not received any updates on the car. Assuming that the PI was desperate, they went to register a 2007 manufacturer car ( which is their existing stock), and resprayed it to red (original colour was yellow). sad to say, paint job was poor, there are signs of yellow paint all over the car, especially in the engine bay. my fren confronted them and they admitted they resprayed the car. the explanation given from them was...BCOS YOU WANTED A RED, SO BASED ON THE AGREEMENT, YOU GET A RED CAR! worst of all, they registered the car a week before they informed my fren abt the collection. why did they hav to inform her only 1 week later? dear bros and sis, please advise wat would you do if you were in my fren's shoes.
