Infected people described as having flu-like symptoms including high fever and severe headaches An unknown disease killed 143 people in a south-west province of Democratic Republic of the Congo in November, local authorities told Reuters. Infected people had flu-like symptoms including high fever and severe headaches, Remy Saki, the deputy governor of Kwango province, and Apollinaire Yumba, the provincial minister of health, said on Monday. A medical team has been sent to the Panzi health zone to collect samples and carry out an analysis to identify the disease. The situation was extremely worrying as the number of infected people continued to rise, said Cephorien Manzanza, a civil society leader. “Panzi is a rural health zone, so there is a problem with the supply of medicines,” Manzanza said. Sick people died in their own homes for lack of treatment, Saki and Yumba said. A local epidemiologist said women and children were the most seriously affected by the disease. A World Health Organization spokesperson said on Tuesday the UN health agency had been alerted to the presence of the disease last week, and it was working alongside DRC’s public health ministry to make further investigations. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/dec/03/unknown-disease-kills-people-south-west-drc-democratic-republic-of-the-congo

Long time since I last start an informative thread. As what @BanCoe has said about me, I eat, sleep, shit also thing about cars and through surfing the web, I have came across some brands which I have never heard of... Hispano-Suiza (founded on June 14, 1904) Hispano-Suiza (Spanish for 'Spanish-Swiss') is a Spanish automotive–engineering company. Hispano-Suiza was founded in 1904 as an automobile manufacturer which eventually had several factories in Spain and France producing luxury cars, aircraft engines, trucks and weapons . In 1923, its French luxury car arm became a semi-autonomous partnership with the Spanish parent company. In 1946, the Spanish parent company sold all of its Spanish automotive assets to Enasa, a Spanish state-owned vehicle manufacturer while the French arm continued as an independent aviation engine and components manufacturer under the Hispano-Suiza name. In 1968, the French arm was taken over by the aerospace company Snecma, now part of the French Safran Group, and the Spanish Peralada Group (owned by the Suqué Mateu family). These were some of the cars produced by them, which look luxurious, sporty or even futuristic during their time (1920s - 1930s). 1922 Hispano-Suiza H6 Coupe-Chauffeur Landaulet 1922 Hispano-Suiza H6B Labourdette Skiff 1923 Hispano-Suiza H6B Cabriolet DeVille 1924 Hispano-Suiza H6B Coupe de Ville por Saoutchik 1924 Hispano-Suiza H6С Type Sports 1924 Hispano-Suiza H6C Tulipwood Torpedo 1925 Hispano-Suiza H6B Transformable Cabriolet 1938 Hispano-Suiza H6C Dubonnet Xenia por Saoutchik

Hi guys, just to illustrate wat happen to me last nite at 230am. I received a call from an unknown oversea no asking for my dad. This guy claims that my dad owes him money and ask us to return him money, he says that he is by the name of 'ah sam' and he just came out from prison. He says that he know where we stay and managed to say out our unit number correctly, but he did not mention any blk or street name though. Then he kept telling us not to play with him, as he know where we stay and hinted that he will come our hse to disturb us. I was quite angry and scolded him in vulgarilty. And i feel that he suddenly felt abit shocked. After afew mins of arguement, he changed his statement. He said that we dont owe him any money but he wants to take some 'kopi money' from us to spend. We abruptly end the conversations by saying we have no money and wanted to hang up. Towards the end of the conversation, he ask us, " you dont even have 100-200??" we just said " no!' and hang up on him. However he still call us again after we hang up but we did not pick up. In total, he called us 3 times, once my mum pick up, 2nd time she pass to me, 3rd time we nv pick up. The whole conversation is in hokkien, but as my hokkien is not fluent and i dun understand completely, he speaked mandarin in the end as i could not make out wat he is saying. We are thinking of going to make a police report later just for safety reason. Bros out here any comments on this situation?
