TL;DR - More road potholes spotted around Singapore after days of continuous downpour, resulting in imbalance of roads and bumpy vehicles. Potholes are just the worst. Watch this 63-second video of different vehicles driving past multiple road potholes. What are potholes? The smallest road flaws can develop into potholes. Due to water seepage and ongoing pressure from heavy cars, these crevices enlarge. A pothole is created when specific sections of the road deteriorate and collapse over time. In general, potholes are more likely to form the more rain there is. A small pothole can get wider and deeper if the traffic in the area is high. Read here to find out what you can do in the event you encounter a pothole that cannot be avoided: https://www.sgcarmart.com/news/writeup.php?AID=579 What happened? If you reside in Singapore, you’d know just how insane the rainfall has been for the past two weeks. The downpour on Tuesday (28th Feb) was heaviest over the eastern and southern parts of Singapore, with the daily total rainfall of 225.5mm recorded at Kallang the highest in 30 years for the month of February. The last time there was such a deluge in February was when 159.3mm of rainfall was recorded on Feb 4, 1995. (Source: The Straits Times) As a result of the continuous heavy rain, the number of potholes proliferated all around Singapore. The video submitted on SGRV showed just one of the many potholes that formed at Pandan Road. Writer’s note: Be mindful driving along this stretch! Online Comments A minute of silence for all the cars that have been lowered… So, if your car has been lowered, please drive carefully and brake early when approaching such potholes - trust me, it’s a different kind of heartbreak when you scratch your undercarriage. And don’t ‘geh-kiang’ and speed. You might just rip out your bumper in the process of acting cool. With the wet weather continuing throughout the whole of next week, we expect to see even more potholes. Thus, please ride safely and be extra cautious especially on the roads! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Hi all, I'm new here with a recent purchase of the avante S model. Since the purchase, there has been a creaking sound from the under carriage on the driver side. Only can be heard at 100km/h or above. I sent it in for a check and the mechanic said he tightened some bolt at the under carriage and asked me to monitor. Even after this, the sound is still there. Anyone encountered this? Apologies if this has been raised before as I have not read through the entire thread yet. Thanks 🙏

My Hyundai Avante (70,000km) is giving me this issue and seeking advice from anyone who have experienced this before. Six months ago, I observed a knocking sound coming briefly (about 2-3 seconds) from the front driver-side wheel area whenever I start moving off the car in the morning. The sound disappears after that till next morning. So I ignored it. However, last few months I have been driving long distance daily (~200km) and the problem has been getting worse. The sound is very frequent every time I make a turn and very obvious at slow speed. I could not notice this sound when driving in expressways. From yesterday evening, the front left wheel side started giving the knocking sound and it continues even in higher speeds/expressways and now the issue is a nuisance and I need to fix this. 1) Is it a risk if I continue driving with this issue? 2) What could be the cause of this issue? 3) Any reliable and reasonable workshop that specializes in Korean Cars/this type of issue? Thank you in advance!

Hello all, Recently I've gotten myself into an accident and my car flew over the center divider. I replaced the the parts that needed to be replace but the problem now is that the car is sitting unevenly. The car is now sitting more on the left than the right. Meaning that the car is higher on the right as complared to the left. Does anyone have any contacts for me in order to get this fixed. I need to get this sorted out hahaha. The slant is quite obvious.

recently whenever I am going over a hump, esp with people in the back seat, the undercarriage would be hit. seems that the suspension or shock absorbers is too soft. I have replaced all four shock absorbers but problem still around. should I change the spring/suspension so that the car is not so bouncy? btw, I am driving a 2007 Camry 2.4

If you currently own the latest Volvo S60 or XC60 and feels that heat is building up from below, it is better to pull over at the side of the road and check. This is because Volvo is recalling 2,742 2012 Volvo S60s and XC60s in the US due to a potential fuel leak that increases the risk of a fire, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). "An incorrect mixture of underbody coating and over-application can result in rigid, icicle-like areas hanging from the vehicle's undercarriage," said NHTSA in its recalls summary of the problem. "If this condition exists, the underbody coating may penetrate the fuels lines and cause fuel leakage, increasing the risk of a crash." Fortunately, Volvo said it has not received any reports alleging injuries, fatalities or crashes related to the defect. Unfortunately, the defect was discovered at Volvo's Ghent, Belgium assembly plant, the same plant where Singapore

I was exiting the car park at Bishan Junction 8 shopping centre, and there was a bump at the exit before you hit the road. I was driving at very slow speed uphill and after moving up the bump there was a sound of something scraping my undercarriage. Has anyone experienced the same there before? I didn't experience any scraping at other bumps before. I am pretty certain its the stone bump is the culprit as there seemed to be multiple deep scratches on the bump after I walked past today and not the small square plastic dividing the enter/exit lanes scraping my undercarriage. Now I worry that my undercarriage could be damaged.

While on the way to a waterfall in Terengganu yesterday, my undercarriage scraped against the ground. We could here the scrapping sound and I thought all was well until I smelled fuel or exhaust fumes from within the vehicle somewhere near Mersing. We could smell the fumes occassionally. Actually, we did not continue our journey to the waterfall as to access it one needs to drive on a dirt track suitable for 4WD wehicles only. I am driving a Toyota Isis MPV. 1) Is there a recommended workshop I should go to? My vehicle is still covered under the PI workshop (MBM Wheelpower) warranty. 2) Should I report this to my insurer? Thanks for the advice.

spotted one white ES (SFQ XXX X) with blue neon undercarriage lights along Woodlands Ave 12.... driven by a young chap with short cropped hair..... i was the red CL7 behind you initially in the middle lane, filtering to the right lane to turn into Woodlands Ave 6. Perhaps I was a bit too fast, that you did not realise that my bonnet was just slightly infront of your bumper that u decided to do filter from the middle lane to the right, apparently also wanting to turn right into Woodlands Ave 6. Oh well, I just needed to tap my brakes a little for you to come into my lane. At the junction I kept in the right most lane, next to you who was in the "left" right-turn lane. Just when the lights turned green, and all cars advanced a bit forward, u decided, without warning or signals, that perhaps my lane could be faster, and zip right into my lane, while the half of my car body was next to yours . Boy, am I glad that my little boy seating behind me shouted about your sporty maneuver and I tapped (perhaps jammed would be more appropriate) my brakes. Right after we turned right into Woodlands Ave 6, u apparently changed your mind, and decided that the left lane in this 2-lane road is faster, and zipped into it. As i needed to turn right at the next junction, i kept to the right lane, making my merry way. But alas, the left lane was hogged by another vehicle, slowing u down. When I came up next to u, I gestured to u, palm facing up - no middle finger here. After I overtook u, somehow u ZOOOOM up behind me.... so close. since tailgating is dangerous, I dropped gear to try to accelerate to keep the distance between us. I must be getting old, cos after I dropped gear, my right foot was too slow in stepping the accelerator. The car slow down drastically - my apologies again if u needed to jam brake because of that. U followed me at the next junction. As we waited at the red lights, I glanced at my rear view mirror, and saw that you're looking unwell - perhaps having IBS (involuntary bowel syndrome), since the face looked constipated. When the lights changed into our favour, we turned into Woodlands Drive 62. Thinking you want to talk to me, I slowed down my car. But instead, u overtook me on my right, stopped your car and gestured to me.... maybe u want to know where is the nearest toilet?? Thinking it's safer to stop in the carpark just next to the road to talk, I turned in to wait for u. But alas, u made a 3-point turn at the Greenwood Primary School and ZOOOM-ZOOOM off ..... PS - u need to get your signal lights repaired - I'm sure u signalled in all your sporty lane changings , but did not realise the signal lights were not working....

Don't know how much Kah charges for them but are the really necessary in Singapore where cars are mostly driven for 5 - 7 years...? These days, car bodies are already galvanized and that itself already protects against rust.. then the point of rust protection systems pitch is, you are adding protection, but as far as I know, so long as there is even a crack in the protection, rust might set in, not matter what protection you have. Any inputs? Thx.

My car has just gone past 50k mileage. As I travel on the expressways, I hear this "Ngong..ngong..ngong....." humming. I figure it might be my bearings. I've talked to other car owners with cars utilizing torsion beam suspension for the rear and they all say that it is tell tale of worn bearings. Without fail, they say it is the rear. Supposedly that it is true that my bearings are worn, why is it always the rear ones on a beam axle suspension are the first to go?
