After countless spy photos, the all new Maserati Ghibli has finally made its debut on the Internet. The world premiere of the new Italian sports sedan will take place later this month at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show. The 2014 Maserati Ghibli marks the company's first attempt at the mid sized luxury sedan market currently dominated by the likes of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series and Audi A6. The Ghibli will go on sale beginning 2014 and will be available with three engines choices including two 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged engines and a 3.0-litre turbodiesel, which is the first diesel engine offered in Maserati's history. No official horsepower or torque outputs for these engines have been released at the moment. All the engines will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission which will send the power to the rear wheels. An optional 'Q4' all-wheel drive system is available as well. As expected, the Ghibli sports a profile that is borrowed from its bigger brother, the Quattroporte. The Ghibli has a smaller grille and a sleeker pair of head lights, further enhancing the sinister looks. On the inside, the sedan has tasteful two-tone dashboard and door panels. A large multimedia screen takes center stage at the front console with the car's name "Ghibli" proudly displayed below it.

New Maserati Ghibli saloon to debut at 2013 Shanghai Motor Show

More details have emerged regarding Maserati's new mid-sized sedan, the Ghibli. Set to be launched at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show in April, the Ghibli will go on sale before the end of the year. The Ghibli is based on a shortened version of the Quattroporte platform. It is expected to measure around 4.9m in length, which is about 300mm shorter than the new Quattroporte. This means that the new model will have a more or less similar foot print as its class rivals such as the BMW 5 Series and Audi A6. At launch, the Ghibli is available with a twin-turbocharged, direct injected V6 3.0-litre. It is similar to the unit found on the Quattroporte but detuned to 385bhp. The other petrol engine choice will be a version of the 3.8-litre V8 found in the Quattroporte which is good for about 480bhp. Both engines are designed and built by Ferrari. A diesel option is also available and reports indicate that it could be a highly-tuned version of the 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel found in the Jeep Grand Cherokee. All engine choices will be mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The rear-wheel driven Ghibli is said to be a much more aggressive car than the Quattroporte. -
British company previews its diesel powered sports car

When it comes to exotic sports and GT cars, many would say that the Italians make the best ones. But some would argue that the British are good at it too. Just take a look at the car in the pictures here. It is a Trident Iceni Grand Tourer. The United Kingdom has many small/medium sized sports car makers that makes unique cars for buyers who are looking for something a little out of the ordinary and Trident is one of them. The Trident Iceni Grand Tourer is a two-seater roadster with a diesel powered engine. The car is fitted with a General Motor-sourced 6.6 litre turbodiesel engine. The engine can run on regular diesel, biodiesel, mineral diesel, palm oil and linseed oil. The engine makes around 430bhp and 1288Nm of torque. Buyers can opt for a performance upgrade which increases the power output level to 660bhp and 1423Nm of torque. The-

For the 2013 model year Jaguar XF, the sleek four-door coupe continues without any alterations to its design, but the major changes will take place underneath the hood. The executive model's engine lineup is expanded with two new forced induction petrol power plants, namely a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 delivering 335bhp with 450Nm and a Ford-sourced 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-4 with 237bhp and 340Nm of torque. The 3.0-litre unit replaces the naturally-aspirated 5.0-litre V8 in some markets. The introduction of a 2.0-litre engine for the XF follows the path taken by its main rival, the BMW 528i. The 2.0-litre XF completes the century sprint in 7.5 seconds, about a second faster than both the 2.2-litre Turbodiesel and the 3.0-litre naturally aspirated V6 petrol. As for the diesel options, the 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel range is now available in both 161bhp and 197bhp outputs with the latter replacing the existing 187bhp engine. These new power plants complement the existing 3.0-litre V6 Turbodiesel and the Supercharged 5.0-litre V8 petrol. My guess is that Jaguar may phase out the current 3.0-litre V6 petrol unit and replace it with the 2.0 turbo as the outputs of both engines are similar. In addition to new power plants, Jaguar will be equipping all gasoline and diesel engines across the XF range with its new 8-speed automatic transmission and start/stop system. Not all variants of the new XF will be available in all markets though. Jaguar is expected to release country-specific details on the XF in the coming months.

[extract] The turbocharging of engines in modern cars today is getting pretty common. You can see all sorts of forced induction set-ups, from a small-sized single turbo and up to a twin-turbo set-up. But a triple turbo set-up is something new and two German automakers are venturing into that foray. The rumours of BMW
