  2. Seems like there are more and more cases of police incompetence, laziness and malfeasance these days. Examples that come to my mind are the Little India riots, screwing up simple DNA tests for a rape case, pressurizing people to not make a police report (KPI to reduce crime?), taking years to hack into a phone when all they needed was a charger from taobao. I'm sure you can think of more. Do you guys trust our police force to do their jobs? Here's the latest case !
  3. I used to use FSM but realised they were a bit pricey so I switched to Dollardex which I really liked until they changed a lot of their graphs and log ins. Why they needed to update a perfectly good system just amazes me. So now I'm wondering about POEMS. Anyone use them and can give me the pros and cons.
  4. http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/courts-crime/judge-yangon-doctors-papers-may-not-be-fake IT professionals with fake MBA is one thing but doctors with questionable qualifications is quite another. lucky that SMA did their due dilligence. just quick question to the doctors here. would you question a doctor's competence if he's not registered with the medical council? would any of you still dare go to him, even if he has a degree? i find it quite scary. my view is, if in doubt, any doubt at all, no matter how small, they should not be allowed to practice here. what do you guys think?

  6. Need help on feedbacks and well as estimated legal cost involved. I am thinking of setting up a simple Trust (irrevocable) on a HDB flat held under tenancy in common on half share basis.. My aunty wants to will her half share to me (with no conditions), but I may not be eligible as I am an owner of a HDB flat. The other half share belongs to her son who is not capable of managing his money and life. However, I have in mind a Trust in lieu of a Will which can be revoked or changed due to influence from others and also to avoid probate when my aunty up lorry. In short, the intention is to realise the asset either before or after my aunty dies and distribute a certain sum of money to her son age 59 on a weekly basis from age 65 till the fund is exhausted. When the beneficiary dies, any balance fund will go to X in one lump sum, thereby terminating the Trust. No compensation for trustee. Now awaiting for HDB's response on whether such a Trust is acceptable before I go see a lawyer. Urgently need to settle this issue as my aunty has passed her 94th bd. TIA.

  8. THE Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) has given the green light for OpenNet to be sold to a business trust owned by SingTel, despite strong opposition from the industry. Under the planned sale of Singapore's fibre broadband network announced on August 22, OpenNet's owners - SingTel, SP Telecommunications, Singapore Press Holdings and Canada's Axia NetMedia - would sell it for $126 million to NetLink Trust. But its day-to-day operations would be run by CityNet, the trustee-manager of NetLink Trust. Announcing this late Thursday evening, IDA said that it is satisfied that the sale would have no substantial lessening of competition or harm the public interest. End of day ,

  11. hi anyone know what is the cheapest way of setting up a trust. What do you put in a trust? My insurance agent recomm me to put my insurance policies into a trust setup. I seriously still very blur abt what it means. I read that you could put properties into trust also.. but the asset will stop belonging to you.. so complex...

  14. Can we really trust the review stated in the site? You only see all the positive comment and non negative? but in the other forum, you can see people talk about some lousy service and the merchant are also given a fair chance to explain themselves. This will thus keep the merchant to perform better. But not in this forum, i found out that those so called recommanded merchant are actually protected by the site admin, if you write something not positive, your article will be get publish, is it because they are a paid merchant and are group protected by site admin?

We have 21-year-old twins who are in their first year at university. My husband has been cheating on me for almost 20 years. He is a womaniser. He sleeps with any woman who offers her body for free. He had a mistress in the 1990s. He even told me that he wanted to marry her but he didn
  17. Mmmmm dont know can trust PTC or not? U decide Old and new bus fares compared It's not only long-distance commuters who have to pay more under the new fares in Singapore. So do many others if you compare the old fares with the new. Here's how the so-called "distance-based" new bus fares compare with the old fares, which were based on how many "stages" one travelled. I am comparing only the adult fares payable by EZ-Link cards on air-conditioned buses. http://www.pressrun.net/weblog/2010/07/old...s-compared.html

  21. Hi, I guess I have no choice but to vent my grudge here. 2 months ago, I entered into a heavy traffic jam in BKE due to a breakdown. As usual, full of JB bikes, buses and local vehicles busting here & there due to the break down - 1 car, 1 bike and a tow truck.....that caused the massive jam. I have no choice but to swerve lanes to ward off and avoid these bikes - carefully with appropriate signals at low speed to get thru'. Then, I accidentally swerved onto a double-white line. Note! Only my front left tyre touched the lines and I subsequently signal, returned right and straighten forward to move on! To me, I did not commit any offence by cutting into lanes via the double-white lines. KNN, I was later slapped a summon ticket later. Obviously, there could be police there noted down my plate. I then wrote in fro appeal but failed. I called to be testifed, and 'they' say its best to get down for an interview with them w/o assuring that my case is dismissed. KNS, how can this happened? Do I take leave, get down, queue up & waste 1/2 day to be interviewed on an offence that I didn't committed and still end up with fines & demerit points? The above was incident 1. In fact, I encountered a similar case 6 moonths ago at near the Woodlands Causeway's heavy traffic jam. I was caught, together with another 2 cars, we were locked by the massive jams. We were trying to get into BKE via the W'lands way. We then parked by the side (a slot for vehicles short stands) to let the squezzy bikes & cars moved on. Suddenly, this white ant squeezed his bike to us & straightaway w/o questioning & started issuing summons. The driver in front queried him since we cannot move on (not even inches). But he just refused to listen, issued the tickets, parked his bike next to us and walked away............. to the main road for his chores. We (the drivers) wrote in to appeal, but all were unsuccessful. A slap of S$100 for the offence of illegal parking each. A few months later, I witnessed that the same slot was occupied by so other cars, bikes (especially for TP) during jams, but none was penalised by nearby white ants whom happend to be there. Later, when the new timngs to checkpoints was implemented, no more usages on the slot. Still, can we trust them? Is it worth to 'fight on' knowing that there's no questions asked against the officials even if there's 'wrongs' if any? Of cos, I dun condemn all but there will be some black sheeps - how to deal with this cos we basically have no stands to win at all...................sigh. Do you have any encounters that you deems to be innocent and being fined for offence you did not commit? Now, especially with the new bus lane rule...... Cheers, a_korusawa

  23. Anwar's conditions for DNA testing Sat, Jul 19, 2008 The Star KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will not agree to the DNA process "until we are absolutely certain that whatever samples taken from him and whatever tests, are conducted independently, professionally and without interference by the police," his lawyer R. Sivarasa said. However, at a later function in Malacca, Anwar said he was unafraid and willing to provide DNA samples but was concerned over tampering of evidence that he claimed had befallen him 10 years ago on a similar charge. "They asked me what I was afraid of ... I'm not afraid to give my blood ... but I know they fabricate and that is my problem," he told supporters who had gathered to hear him speak in Jalan Cheng-Tanjung Minyak. Meanwhile, Sivarasa said the offer to allow Anwar to pick his own doctors to conduct the DNA test would not solve the problem, as there was the fear that the final report of the test and samples would be tampered with. He said statements by Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar were tantamount to interfering in ongoing investigations. Syed Hamid had suggested that Anwar pick his own doctors to examine his DNA sample and that he had nothing to fear. Sivarasa told a press conference at Anwar's home in Segambut yesterday that a court order to force the PKR adviser to give his DNA sample was not permissible under Malaysian law. He also reminded the authorities that police still had Anwar's DNA from the earlier case. Sivarasa said the police bail for Anwar's release was RM10,000 and not RM150,000 as reported.
