"I noticed in my conversations that multi-stall gender-neutral bathrooms are kind of the future," Council member John M. Erickson told ABC News. "It's easier. The idea is that the beauty of the structure would encourage visitors to be clean when doing their thing. Yesterday, I recieved a 7th month shock in my own toilet. Wanted to take a piss and found a centipede inside the toilet bowl. I got rid of it by flushing and spent the next 30 mins inspecting the toilet and saturating the place with insecticide. I also flushed the toilet a kazillion times to make sure the centipede doesn't come back. I wonder where the centipede came from and how to prevent a future incident? The scary part is it made a run for underside of the toilet bowl rim when I was about to flush. What if there is another one lurking there ready to crawl up somebody's butt?

However, everyone’s bowels are unique to them, and what’s normal for one person may not be normal for another. You can have a bowel movement anywhere from one to three times a day at the most, or three times a week at the least, and still be considered regular, as long as that’s your usual pattern. More or less frequent would be considered abnormal, but not necessarily cause for alarm, says gastroenterologist Arthur Magun, MD, clinical professor of medicine at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University in New York City. What Happens With a Bowel Movement Digestion begins in your mouth and stomach and ends in your bowels — the lower parts of your digestive tract. When the food you eat reaches your bowels, the water and salts that remain are absorbed. The digested food that is left becomes more solid and exits as bowel movements. Dr. Magun explains that normal bowel movements “consist of formed, brown stools, not too hard, not too loose.” When stools are too loose, you can have diarrhea. When they are too hard and dry, you can be constipated. The effectiveness in the removal of bacteria was measured by assessing the, "changes in the number of bacteria on the hands before and after the use of paper towels, hot air dryer, or jet air dryer. Finger pads were sampled by contact plates, and the palms were sampled by swabbing and inoculation of agar plates." They found that paper towels, "reduced the numbers of all types of bacteria on the hands" and hot air dryers were the least effective method of removing bacteria from washed hands. Many studies have found that friction is the key component in hand drying as it helps to remove contamination. Micobiological testing of the paper towels after use, demonstrates that many bacteria are transferred from the hands to the paper towels." Even more terrifying for all of us is the fact that every time a toilet is flushed, "a fine aerosol mist can be sprayed into the air. This mist may contain may types of fecal bacteria that can cause diseases. Air movement can encourage the dispersal and transmission of bacteria and increase the chance of cross-contamination. Used air dryers in washrooms are often contaminated and can emit bacteria in their air flow. So there is a potential risk of persons standing in front of air dryers acquiring the bacteria being dispersed into the air current towards them. The bacteria can then be inhaled or can be deposited on the person's body or clothes, thus making him/her a potential mobile source of infection." No such spread was seen with either paper or cloth towels. The review suggests that ultimately paper towels are the best option for settings where infection prevention is critical. However you may have no choice, which is often the case in public or workplace washrooms in which only hot air dryers are provided. The study did reveal that users have a strong preference for using paper towels and that "hand hygiene adherence would possibly decrease if paper towels are not available in washrooms." Also, air dryers that are used in many washrooms allow for only one user at a time and each person could take up to one minute to dry their hands. This is not convenient and often leads to avoidance or incomplete drying. In several studies, on average people spent just 22.5 seconds drying hands, and 41% wiped their hands unhygienically on clothes. In instances where paper towels are not available remember to always follow recommended hand washing technique, take extra time to dry your hands with an air dryers and consider carrying a personal size bottle of alcohol hand sanitizer as an added level of defense.

I live in an old 1960s apartment and I noticed in late December that water was leaking from the false ceiling in my toilet, right above the toilet bowl. Became worse 2 days later. Called NTUC Home Income services. The contractor came 5 hours later and sliced the false ceiling. He said it was bad. He found the concrete dislodged. The steel bars are exposed. Water is dripipping from the steel bar area. The owner above told me a tenant is living above and he is overseas. Anyone knows what are the next series of events I should expect? I am thinking that their toilet floor and bottom wall tiles (20 cm) have to be hacked off. Toilet bowl, sink all have to be removed. And a contractor needs to apply the water proof membrane on the whole floor and 20 cm of the wall tiles. The whole process may take 4 days. Should I alert the owner that her tenant would need to find an alternative place to stay for 4 days otherwise he will not be able to use the toilet and bath?

So I went in and relieved myself. After that, I flushed. To my horror, the flush not only didn't work, it started to overflow. AND IT DIDN'T STOP OVERFLOWING. I had to run out of the toilet and try to turn off the water mains in my house, but it still didn't stop. Soon the entire house was filled with disgusting shit water. I had to ask my family to stay over at my in-laws place while i waited for the PUB and f**king slow HDB to show up and assess the damage. You can see the damage for yourself. Python hides in Eunosville toilet bowl, bites housewife's thigh May 1 was Labour Day, her son's second birthday, and now, Madam Noraslinda Asat (above) has another reason to remember this date for life. The 34-year-old housewife was bitten by a python as she sat on the toilet bowl last Thursday, around 5.10pm. She was in her Eunosville home's master bedroom ensuite bathroom when she felt the sharp pain. Standing up, she saw the jaws of a 1.8m-long python clamped on the back of her right thigh. She was taken to hospital where she received an injection and was discharged. The snake has not been caught and Madam Noraslinda is still traumatised. She has refused to use either toilet at home, preferring public ones at places like the coffee shop. Bertrand Ngien Wen-Tseah, 37, was faced with eight charges, including trespassing a female toilet, destroying evidence and outrage of modesty when was a science teacher at Yuhua Secondary School. According to the Chinese dailies, he had installed three pinhole cameras in one of the school's girls' toilet on the fourth level around 7am on Feb 15. Shin Min Daily News reported that at least three girls were secretly filmed. A student discovered a camera in the toilet and alerted a staff member, who later found two more similar devices in other cubicles in the same toilet, reported The New Paper. The staff member placed the cameras in the staffroom and left the room. Around 1pm on the same day, Ngien entered the staffroom and saw the cameras on the school's operations manager's table. He knew that his deeds have been discovered and decided to destroy the evidence. An hour later, when the office was empty, he removed the three micro SD memory cards. When the school discovered the memory cards were missing, footage from the closed-circuit television camera installed in the staffroom was checked and Ngien was seen removing the memory cards. He was called back to the school on that afternoon, and on the way there, he threw away memory cards into a storm drain. He confessed to the principal, who told Ngien to return home, saying he was going to report the matter to the police, according to Lianhe Wanbao. When he reached home, Ngien threw away the laptop which he had viewed the recordings on. The $443 laptop had been issued by the Ministry of Education and Ngien has since refunded the cost. Ngien pleaded through his lawyer that his wife had suffered from mental illnesses which resulted in him developing depression. He claimed to have sought psychiatric help in 2009, and is current seeking treatment with the Institute of Mental Health. He said he was remorseful for committing the offence. He added that being fired by the Ministry of Education was his greatest punishment and pleaded for a lighter sentence. The case will adjourn in court on July 25 for sentencing

main culprits are men who drips when they pee........ how to stop this? this is not joking..... lets start with the urinals chosen for the toilets. some urinals really cmi..... too small and any drips sure land on the floor, and become smelly there are basically a few types of urinals, which you used and found more drip-proof than the others? 1. old school common urinals in stainless steel, one long longkang everyone can see next guys' didi... but the 'drain' catches the drips quite well (but i think no more liao, even SAF camps also not using this) 2. individua "box type" hanged from the wall, open front, with a little 'lip' sticking out in front trying to catch the drips... quite useless 3. the moden individaul oval (egg-shape) type, also hanged from wall, i find this type catches the drips quite well (my vote goes to this) 4. the full height individual urinal which sits on the floor, we pee all the way down into its 'catchment' on the ground.... quite rare nowadays 5. other types? maybe they should introduce a drip-sensor ---- anyone drips, he gets water jet shoot at his face from the wall.... this way he will aim and shoot properly maybe the urinal should be shaped like a xmm's open mouth, then the guy insert his didi and shoot, sure no drips on the floor, not smelly toilet... ??
