  1. Hi, Does anyone knows what is the optimised settings for the dash cam esp on the battery protection voltage, and motion detector? My car battery just failed, when I checked back the dash cam SDCARD, i saw there were many motion detection recording at the MSCP until the car battery fails. The recording is like every minute! I think this is the second time the battery drained by the dash cam motion detection. Previously before I change to the current battery, the old dash cam F750 recording also shows a lot of recording triggered by motion at the car park and drained the previous car battery. Being an OPC, the car is park in the MSCP most of the time, so lesser time to start and charge back the battery and keep draining by the dash cam. I have set the dash cam car battery threshold to 12v and the motion detection to LOW. should I just set the motion detection to off? THanks

  3. THINKWARE / INAVI users, any feedback from you. Installed mine THINKWARE INAVI FXD700 some 3 weeks ago and was very happy with the unit. Have upgraded to the 'English' version and ha..ha..., missed the sweet Korean voices everytime switch on the unit. Think same voice used in 'English' version but wondering if it is the same girl. As it comes with a rear cam, I had also just installed a small screen to view what had been recording and using the rear cam to assist in reversing. Just curious to find out if there are any other problems users face.
  4. Hi there, I am in the processing of comparing different dashcams. There are lot of opposing opinions so I thought I would do some further research. My criteria was to future proof so that it at least lasts a couple of years BUT not get the latest which might be overkill/too expensive. Like I don't think it's necessary to have 4K. I think getting from the US also might be an option (even despite not having local warranty). I prioritize safety and so an ACTUALLY useful driver assistance system would be great! The ones in my comparison set are: iRoad x9 $460 Front and rear at full HD 1080P at 30fps, 90 degrees rear I think, 150 degrees front, Driving Assistance Features / Road Safety Warning System, prevents battery discharged, Wi-Fi Does not overheat too much. Reviews are quite mixed BlackVue DR750S-2CH $568, even lower in some places Front camera with Full HD (1920 x1080 @60FPS), Rear camera with Full HD (1920 x 1080 @30FPS), 139º wide view angle, WiFi built-in, Cloud service compatible, Endures higher operation temperature than earlier models. Reviews are quite mixed, but skewed a bit negative. Although this US site shows very good reviews. Thinkware Q800PRO 2K QHD Cloud Dash Cam $699 2K QHD Front + Full HD Rear, 140°. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems that includes Lane Departure Warnings, Front Collision Warnings and more. Reviews are quite mixed, but skewed a bit negative. Although many review sites say it is feature packed. This US site compared a lot of the dashcams: https://www.blackboxmycar.com/pages/best-dash-cams#budget-friendly-4k Clearly, the iRoad x9 has similar features like driver warning systems without overheating and is cheapest but reviews for ALL are mixed. What have your personal experiences been after using it for a while? Which would you go with?

  6. Anyone has any model to recommend ? - HD recording - Clear recording at night or dim lighting - Can record people scratching, of course when car is parked with engine off. Blackvue or Thinkware better??? Or any better brand? Which model?
  7. So I been having intermittent issues with my dash cam over the last year, it finally seemed that the problem was the memory card. Now looking further into it, the issue at hand is that most memory cards aren't suitable for the 24/7 continous writing in surveillance/CCTV mode enabled dash cams. A typical 32GB card will hold maybe 2, maybe 4 to 5, hours worth of content which means that it is probably eating through its entire capacity's worth perhaps 2 or 3 times a day. Most common memory cards are built on a cheaper variety of memory chips called TLC NAND, which have relatively short write endurance of around 3,000~5,000 cycles, which apparently translates to about 150~300 total overwrites. Examples include be SanDisk Ultra cards... Then there's MLC and SLC NAND, which without going into working detail, get more endurance. Doing some simple math, 150 total overwrites, assuming the card does it twice a day, a cheap memory card could eat through its entire rated write endurance in less than a year! My older dashcam-used memory cards, even with formatting, cuck up the camera every few seconds now. Anyway, I notice now there are High Endurance for video surveillance memory cards by SanDisk, Lexar and Transcend, advertised to handle at least 2 years of continuous recording. I'm trying out the SanDisk card, will be interesting to see if it's still problem free after warranty is over. Anyone else tried those, or other brands of cards? I'd also like to get some more data from other users about how long their memory cards are lasting in cams.
  8. Dear all, Anyone using Thinkware F800 Pro here? I am using it now and I find that the camera is not sharp compared to my previous iTronics car camera so I like to check with fellow users here whether yours also having same issue as mine. Thanks.
  9. Hi All, Need to pull a quick one. SE offering me two options... which one should I go for? thanks!
  10. Hi All Been using this for about 6 weeks and thought want to share some of my user experience. Brand and Model Thinkware FXD900 I'll skip all the parts where you can find easily on Google or YouTube. http://www.inavi.com/Products/BlackBox/Gate?target=_Black_FXD900 Look and Feel If you are keen to know what does the box include, there's a YouTube video on unboxing it too. I bought it from ZMC, so installation is included and I don't think whatever leftover in the box is useful. Below are how it looks like after installation: Front camera - The white line at the front is a left-right moving white LED, which can be changed / off via software setting Back Camera - I had to take this photo from inside because my window film is making this almost invisible in the photo Ease of access to microSD Got a friend asking how easy is it to access the memory card. The short answer is difficult. I'll show you the pictures before I continue to the long answer. Memory card slot - at the back of the camera To access the slot, it means you have to move your rear view mirror every time Having said that, there isn't any reason for me to remove the card other than being curious what have been recorded. Once the memory card is formatted, settings configured, I don't really need to take the card out anymore. When the memory card is full, the recording will auto overwrite the older recordings. The Recordings Again, you can find a lot of video on YouTube. I find those video largely relevant an valid compared to my own video quality. I am adding a few screenshots to highlight the missing information. Day time recording is good, and you can use the software to zoom in the video, which is very useful in the event of unfortunate events. Also, you can swap the rear camera to the left window and zooming is possible too. Lastly, the GPS will show your location in the map. However, if you are at open car park at night time, the image quality is not impressive. I assume the result will be better if inside lighted MSCP. Below show a screen shot from open car park with little lights, I'm not sure if there's an event, will I be able to see the car plate. Having said that, I think with zoom in and the light from the other vehicle, there's a high chance I can. I don't really wish to find out with my cam at this stage... The Software It's called BlackViewer, which can be downloaded online. Setup is straight forward, settings are easy too. Below are the settings, most of these are set at the point of installation by ZMC. I did some changes which I will explain later. Some of the settings can also be turned on/off via the buttons on the camera itself. 1.Common Setting, no idea what does the brightness do. Perhaps I should change to Light and test it out. Voice recording records the voice in the car. Voice guidance is useful, it tells you how many events were recorded while parking, whether GPS connected etc. 2. Continuous settings, these are the settings when you are driving the car, I changed nothing. 3. Surveillance (parking mode). I changed the 15fps to 30 fps, no significant difference, hence I changed it back. I did reduce the sensitivity of the motion detection, because it was recording everything that moves... There is also a cut off when battery hits 12V or the duration is longer than 48hrs, meaning the camera will shut down to prevent drying the battery. I've been leaving parking mode on overnight and I have no issue with battery so far. 4. Additional Settings, this is where you change the LED light and also the microSD storage allocation.
  11. Hi guys, I am looking at purchasing a dashcam in the upcoming IT show and I hope the gurus around here can enlighten me and point me in the right direction. The three models I am looking at are the Thinkware X500, Marbella QB6 and Blackvue DR650GW-2CH. I heard thinkware is super reliable. It has all the bells and whistles but the price is a bummer. The specs of the QB6 looks good and the videos look decent and can get the job done. Best thing is the price for 2CH full HD. However i would like to know its reliability, maybe based on past models because this is a new model. The Blackvue DR650 has the best form factor. However, I read online that the back camera sometimes turns totally purple. Blackvue also has quite a bad problem with heat. The most overheating problems come from Blackvue units. Having said all these, I am still a newbie at dashcams and hope you guys can help me out. Which should i pick and why? Also may I know approx how long do these cams last? Thanks a ton in advance
