  1. If this holds true, this climate change will inevitably effect everyone, not just for those whose daily activities that depend on the weather condition. With the average maximum daily temperature predicted to reach 34.9 to 36.7 deg C from current 31.8 deg C, this will means more demand for powering air conditioners, higher health risk, longer dry spells, increased bush fires and yes, the chocking smog/haze/smoke from the resulting burning. This will drive people indoor for longer period and increase water usage, exacerbating the situation by reducing our adaptability in a hotter and dryer Garden City. http://news.asiaone.com/news/singapore/unusually-warm-weather-may-become-norm-singapore
  2. anyone knows if there is any law on workplace temperature ?? we are 3pl and we are stationed in a big warehouse (half a football field) at the cargo complex. the whse has many wall fans but sometimes the weather gets so hot that the fanned wind is just hot air also ... it can get up to about 32deg in the afternoons. although there are roller shutters but when we open them, more hot air gets blown into the warehouse ! if there is such a law to indicate the temperature of a workplace, I would want to bring it up to the hirer so they have to make the environment better for my staff.
  3. Hi, I driving a stock Colt Plus Turbo. I had been hitting a temperature of average 90 to 95 when moving and about 95 when station. Is it normal for a turbo car? What are the advise you guys can give me? Does installing a engine coolant kit helps? Thanks
  4. Just a suggestion for peace of mind. As higher temperatures are expected, one may wish to consider to do their normal 10k servicing sooner by maybe 1k km. I would think this would especially apply to major servicing as the coolant is near the end of its useful life and the hot weather is so unkind. Same goes for ATF change as well. Prevention is better than cure.
  5. Just got high temperature yesterday. After top up, car back to normal..with fan cutting in at the slightly more half mark of the temperature. But when drive long period, the high temp came back. I did a reflush of the coolant suspecting it could be too dilute. Now still monitoring...what could be the problem??
  6. Hi, Lets discuss on 1. What type of air intake are you using? 2.Whats your car intake temperature in the day? 3. What do you observed on the performance of the car during different intake temperature. I am using freelance r.i.s.k air intake system. Semi open pod with cai. Intake temp <58 degrees celcius, car moves happily Intake temp >58 degress, butt can feel the sluggish untill it goes higher speed and thats when cai and the wind kicks in and temp starts to fall and it breathes well again. On a not so hot day when temp always <58 oc, it breathes happily irregardless of speed.
  7. Need help, my car temperature keep going up to 100%, water are fill to the max. What should i do? Can just change coolant?
  8. Hi all, I've recently installed a body-kit at the rear and unfortunately, the ABS body-kit at the exhaust muffler melted. Friends who had installed the same ABS rear body-kit did not suffer the same fate as me. I'm trying to troubleshoot the cause and had googled but found no answer. The only recent modification made to my car are the 1) K&N Apollo Closed Air Intake System, 2) Throttle Controller, and 3) Oct 98 Fuel....... As such, any technical gurus here have any possible explaination if one of these mod. may have increased the exhaust temperature or could it be due to any other reason/s ??!!! Thanks !

  14. CNA reports : Sex, sand and shoots raise Beijing Olympic temperatureAFP - Tuesday, August 19 BEIJING (AFP) - - From scantily-clad, gyrating go-go dancers at the beach volleyball to Germany's finest hockey player baring all for a steamy photo-shoot, sex sells at the Olympics. Katharina Scholz has spent as much time in Beijing explaining away her decision to join sailor Petra Niemann, judokar Romy Tarangul and canoeist Nicole Reinhardt in Playboy as she has discussing her part in helping Germany reach the semi-finals of the field hockey tournament. "For me it was a good opportunity, and maybe when I look back after a few years I will be proud of it," said the 25-year-old. "Not everybody can go on the cover of Playboy. I did it because I am confident of my body and myself. It wasn't a group decision, we haven't seen each other. The shooting was separate. Everyone decided it for themselves." Other pin-ups of the Games have also been happy to pose in and out of competition. US swimmer Amanda Beard was naked in Playboy last year and made headlines in Beijing even before the Games started, when she used the Athletes' Village as a backdrop to unveil a nude photo of herself in a poster backing an anti-animal cruelty cause. In the advertisement, a naked Beard is kneeling in water, her left hand covering her right breast and her right hand on her right hip as she stares into the camera with a huge American flag filling the entire background. "I've done Playboy. I'm comfortable with my body," Beard said of her willingness to shed her clothes for a People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals anti-fur campaign. "I go to the office in a swimsuit." Her form in the pool was not so striking as she failed to qualify for the 200m breastroke final. The Sun in Britain, traditionally feverishly nationalistic and weary of all things European, named the German Playboy four as their favourites. Their reporters have also enjoyed watching what they've dubbed the Peach Volleyball at Chaoyang Park where game intervals are filled by energetic routines performed by a troupe of bikini-clad dancers. "We're used to it. Whether domestically or internationally we have dancing girls with us," said US player Misty May-Treanor Hmmm...... so thats where the SG 4th TT coach had gone too .........
  15. Hi , When we talk abt sixth element, reducing heat off the engine. Do we referring to modding air intake or something else? Thanks
  16. Gong Xi fa Cai!! I did not find a similar topic, so decided to create a new one. All of us would have experienced 'green house' effect when parking our ride under the hot sun. The interior is extremely warm even with thermal flims installed. Does anyone has DIY methods to control, if not reduce, the interior temperature?
  17. whenever i chamge the temperature of my aircon to a higher degree it will give out a foul smell. why?
  18. For the guys who are driving the Superb...When you start the engine say in the morning, does the needle climbs straight up to the middle i.e. to 90C or does it takes several minutes for it to get to 90C?
  19. Hi Bros, Did you guys see those ebay advertisment where they sell a small little chip that plug to your temperature sensor or coolant sensor and claimed can increase Bhp by up to 20. I read that the technique used is simple, trick the car to think that temperature is cooler outside and enhance fuel mix ratio thus give rise to more torque and better pick-up. Anyone here tried? Is the result satisfactory? Regards,
  20. Hi all, Anyone knows what is the normal operating temperature for the engine oil? And what is the acceptable range? Just during normal usage and maybe high speed NS highway runs , not during tracking... Thanks in advanced
  21. That's the Kia Picanto I'm referring to. It makes me wonder how one will know that the engine temp is boiling or hitting the red line. I was told that this is is a basic model, hence no temp guage, but I felt that a temp gauge is the basic of most basic necessities. If there's no tacometer (rpm meter), it's still acceptable. Anyway, I had a test drive of the Picanto 1.1 manual this afternoon, and it was surprisingly spacious. Pick up was fairly good and steady. Overall ride was more refined compared to the Perodua Kelisa 1.0. The engine was surprisingly refined (for a 1.1l) when I revved it to redline on first gear. It hit 40km/h. The salesman said that this launch price will be raised to S$54,999 soon. But I think this is a C.O.C.K. and bull story. With the Kia Rio 1.3 manual selling for only S$54,000, the Picanto will die an overnight death if the price is raised by S$5,000. Surprisingly, I even saw old maried couples in their 50s booking this car. The Picanto's closest competitors are the Perodua Kelisa 1.0 (S$52,900) & Proton Wira 1.3 (S$52,800). For the young & trendy, the Picanto may be the car, but if you want a Japanese engine with that mini look, then the Kelisa may fit the bill. For the ultimate in space in passenger compartment & boot, with the UUMPH when you need it & the trustworthy Mitsubishi engine, the Wira got to be the one. Not an easy decision. For me, my heart & the child in me says "Get the Picanto", but my mind says "Nothing but the Wira." KIA PICANTO manual PROS 1. Spacious 2. Pretty refined engine 3. Rear seats fold down completely 4. High sitting position (similar to G9 Corolla or Matrix) 5. Big and comfortable seats 6. Spacious headroom 7. Economical (as claimed by the salesman - 16km/l) 8. Front power windows 9. Single disk Kenwood sound system 10. Nice Body colour interior door handles (but may be scratched easily if you wear a ring) 11. 3 year, 100,000km warranty 12. Low annual depreciation of S$4,600 per annum (straight line depreciation) CONS 1. Cramped rear leg space if driver is tall 2. No temperature gauge 3. No mudguard 4. Air-con so so... and robs this mini of pick up power 5. Seat fabric material may not last 6. Skinny 155/70R13 tyres. No upgrades available. 7. Poor resale value (as for all Kia cars) 8. Low OMV of S$7,000 (Scrap value 55% of OMV - S$3,850)
