A video of a Hyundai i30 nearly driving into a cam car has been uploaded on Facebook. But who really is at fault? Watch the video to decide. Luckily the cam car driver was quick enough to jam brake. The cam car driver then turns to the right lane, and according to him, proceeds to get hounded by the Hyundai i30 by getting tailgated. Extra irritation and frustration was caused to the cam car driver due to the Hyundai i30's loud exhaust. From the video, it really looks like the Hyundai i30 driver was at fault. But what if I told you there was another side to the story? According to this facebook user who was at the incident, he claims that the cam car had signalled left, therefore it was the cam car's fault that he proceeded to go straight instead. He also goes on to accuse the cam car (who was apparently driving a Mitsubishi Attrage) of having 'offended him in the past'. A bold claim if true. It certainly brings another perspective to the saga. Another commenter made a fine point against the cam car driver. He pointed out how the cam car driver was also being reckless by suddenly swerving to the right, most likely not having checked his mirror doing so. So it seems that this case might be an ambiguous one. Although it seems like the Hyundai i30 is clearly at fault in the video, the netizen, if his claims are true, would paint the cam car driver might not turn out to be the saint that he is. Regardless of who is most at fault in this incident, we feel that the Hyundai i30 driver could have waited for the cam car driver to turn into the left lane (if he was actually signalling left), before coming out of the side road. Watch this video here: What Happened? A BlueSG leisurely ran a red light signal along Outram Road and got t-boned HARD by another car. The collision was so impactful that it deployed the airbags of the BlueSG vehicle. The BlueSG vehicle sustained some rather major damages, including a dislodged wheel. Similarly, the other vehicle also sustained significant damage, including a badly damaged front bumper that dislodged onto the ground. Car sharing drivers have developed quite a bad reputation for their atrocious driving over the years. If you're wondering how bad they are right now, look no further. Here's a video that will make you facepalm yourself: What Happened? After failing to come to a complete stop at a stop-line, a GetGo Mazda 3 abruptly performed an e-brake to avoid t-boning a taxi. For some reason (most likely to give the Mazda 3 driver a death stare), the taxi stopped just in front of the Mazda 3. At this point, the Mazda 3 somehow gently rolls forward and collides with the side of the taxi. I am not sure about you, but this deserves a good facepalm moment. This incident serves as a prime example of the poor driving skills that the majority of car sharing drivers possess. Cross-junctions have and always will be a dangerous section of any road. It is essentially an intersection with the most concentrated traffic, which poses additional hazards to road users. One such hazard is being a victim to vehicles that beat the red light, such as this one: What Happened? This unfortunate accident took place at a cross-junction along Boon Lay Drive. Firstly, let's take a look at an overview of the location below: Upon the green light signal, a ComfortDelgro taxi on the left lane, intending to travel straight, gradually approached the junction. Just then, a lorry from the right beat the red light and smashed head-first into the driver-side of the taxi. The lorry was travelling at a relatively fast speed as it seemed to have gone full-throttle and accelerated in an attempt to beat the red light "successfully". NGL, the impact of the collision was a rather strong one. Both vehicles came to a complete halt moments later, after striking a kerb. A Sitting Duck The taxi was essentially a sitting duck that had no way of mitigating the danger posed by the oncoming lorry. Despite the traffic signal that indicated it was clear for the taxi to proceed, its view of the oncoming lorry was completely obstructed by another lorry on the discretionary right turn lane beside it. Be it to perform an emergency brake or swerve; it was almost impossible for any driver to have responded in such a situation. Transformers used to be every kid's dream toy back in the good old days – what's not to love when it's based an innovative combination between cars and robots? The driver of a prime mover seemed to be stuck in his dream as he re-enacted a scene you would probably see in a Transformers movie. What Happened? The cam car was driving along Kian Teck Avenue when he witnessed this horrifying accident between a prime mover and a lorry. Just as the cam car and lorry was passing by a junction, a prime mover emerged from Kian Teck Drive and smashed headfirst into the side of the lorry. The impact was so great that it caused the lorry to topple over to its side. Luckily, there seemed to be no passengers in the back of the lorry. Below is a clearer view of the accident location: It was clear as day that the prime mover driver disregarded the stop-line and assumed he had the right of way since he was travelling straight. Playing the Devil's Advocate? Nope, don't start on the "it is partly LTA's fault because they did not maintain the road signage which caused the stop-line to be faded". Regardless of how faded it is, the stop-line remains visible to any road user, and this suffices. The fault lies entirely on the prime mover driver. The Outcome of the Accident At this point, it remains unknown if anyone was seriously injured in this accident. A little patience can go a long way, let's be honest. If only the driver of that Volkswagen heeded that advice. If someday, someone needs an example, perhaps they can come back to footage of this accident that happened at the junction of Yio Chu Kang Road and Hougang Avenue 2 Now, let's not point fingers here on who's fault it was, we'll let the authorities handle that. But sometimes, just stop and wait for a little while longer at a discretionary right turn. It won't hurt you to be a little delayed if you can save yourself the hassle of getting involved in an accident. And to add insult to injury, the Mercedes ends up blocking the road to Hougang Avenue 2 after hitting the Volkswagen, causing even more inconvenience for everyone. Perhaps slow down a little when you're approaching a junction, for you never know who might try to dash out on the discretionary right turn. Remember what you learned in driving school. Let off the accelerator on the third arrow before the junction, then press it again as you cross the first arrow. After all, would you rather be a little late to your appointment or injured from an avoidable accident? Plus, accident repairs aren't cheap, and neither is an increase in your insurance policy and the forfeiture of your NCD. Food for thought?
