  1. Just went to Chen Jin Trading and bought a new set of 15" Avanti Rims and Tyres. Boss gave me a very good price not only for the set but also for the trade in rims and tyres. I'm switching allegience from Soh and Po Hen to them from now on. They have very good prices for Eagle F1 and Kumho tyres. Recommended highly for good service too. P.S I ask the boss why the 2 shops can offer such prices and got some interesting explainations. Cheers Chen Jin Trading 480 Upper Serangoon Road Tel: 62823006
  2. What will be Singapore's most in-demand jobs for 2019. Good time to take stock on where the sunset industry is and which job to switch to. Just that there is no plotted map for someone to refer to in order to get there other then the security pathway. https://www.straitstimes.com/business/economy/what-will-be-singapores-most-in-demand-jobs-for-2019 SINGAPORE - Singapore hiring is likely to see stable growth in 2019, with top jobs in demand to be analytical and data-driven in nature, according to the latest annual salary survey by recruitment firm Robert Walters. These include data scientists, product management, user experience (UX) designers, and digital roles, with cyber security to remain a major focus, in the wake of recent high-profile cyber attacks in Singapore. The report also found that job movers in Singapore can expect pay increments of 5 per cent to 15 per cent in 2019, and larger hikes can be expected for candidates with specialised skill sets in IT, digital and financial services. Among employers, human resource (HR) professionals with strong experience in HR technologies, as well as talent acquisition professionals for the technology sector will be sought after. Hiring levels for jobs in financial services will also remain positive, with a continued focus on technical and commercial skill sets. Demand will be high for skilled contracting professionals, trade finance professionals in corporate banking, investment and research analysts, and IT professionals in the financial services sector, said Robert Walters. In addition, sales and marketing professionals with big data, digital, e-commerce and transformation experience will be in increasing demand as companies continue their digitalisation efforts. With a limited talent pool, competition will intensify for specialists such as Singaporeans qualified with international and cross-border experience and knowledge in areas such as product management, technology law and blockchain, as well as supply chain and procurement professionals with niche skill sets. According to Robert Walters, the accounting and finance sector will see a demand for professionals with tax compliance and change management expertise, with skill sets in demand including a strong technical understanding and familiarity of regulatory rules, stakeholder engagement and management skills. In the engineering sector, more jobs are expected to emerge as oil and gas prices recover, said Robert Walters. Strong demand is anticipated for professionals in the semiconductor, medical devices, consumer electronics and manufacturing industries, especially in the research and development departments. "The best candidates look for roles they can grow into. Employers who can demonstrate that they have the right teams and systems in place to support a candidate's success in a role are better positioned to secure top talent," said Mr Rob Bryson, Robert Walters managing director for Singapore.
  3. was at a hot pot eatery last night with my mom, sis and wife and son. waited for about 20mins before we were finally seated in sort-of the middle of the eatery. so the soup came and then it was heated up and then the food came as well. and when the soup started to boil, we started to drop the food into the soup. we had dumped all the vege into the soup before the service crew came and asked us if we could switch to another table as a group of 9 with reservation just turned up and our table was the only one that can be merged with the next to accommodate the group even though we were about half way through, without a second thought, I just told her ok as long as she can do the switch, which she proceeded to and we just moved ourselves to the new table. any else here as accommodating as me ? ** when we were leaving, we were surprised with a free 2 feet hello kitty plush !
  4. I have never driven a RWD car before and would like to own one in the near future. For those who have experience driving a RWD car, is it very difficult to switch from FWD to RWD? do you need to re-learn your driving style all over again? Please share your experience.
  5. After driving conti for sometime, i think i will switch back to Japanese car (used). Anyone had experience with the following: Toyota Mark X (2005 to 2011) and Nissan Teana 2.5 (previous model). 8. Hi guys, I am quite the impatient sort, and I have set up a routine to press the Start Engine button and immediately switch the gear to Drive (from Park), then pull seat belt and drive off, all within a few seconds. The problem is... Recently, i was doing this routine more and more quickly, until 1 time when I switched the Gear to Drive (from Park), the car/gearbox keeps vibrating, then I quickly switched back to Park and off the Engine, then I restart Engine and after a while then switch to Drive. Did I do any damage to my car's engine or gearbox?
  9. Hi, my hp contracts are up.. just wondering if there are any good catch for switching telcos for HP svcs? just a normal small time user but will be subscribing 3 lines for parents as well.
  10. main attraction - the thin form factor, even though to be frank, i dont really carry my laptop ard except only during weekend (but i do drive though). Have wanted to go for Mac BookAir, but after thinking a while, think the high price may not justify it.. I would think my preferred laptop brand would be Asus. Few noob questions: - anyone of you regretted switching over to ultrabook? - usually how many USB ports would ultrabook have? - do ultrabooks have the usual ports that a normal notebook would have? - since ultrabooks are using SSD nowsadys, would i be able to plug in a normal 2.5 inch external hard disk and USB thumbdrive to read the contents? - are the battery lifespan generally better? Many TIA
  11. Like topic title states, I'm itching to switch to an affordable convertible (well, within my means anyways hehe) from my current Atrex. Had enough of whacking around with my current ride, and the fact that its a big time fuel guzzler is beginning to drain me out lol. Would like to hear other bro's opinions on this switch. There are many times where I really wished i was driving a top down especially at night with my gf next to me Or, chionging down places like blue valley with the wind between my hair. Plus, the fact that I wanna take corners with a rear-powered car too hehe
  12. How to inform them? If at the junction, would stop beside them and tell them. But when moving in expressway ? I tried switching off and on my headlight to alert him, instead he switch another lane. He thought I would want to overtake.
  13. Not sure if this has been ask before. Is it ok to switch between petrol brand constantly? Anything that I should take note of (eg pump the new brand only when the tank is near empty etc)? Still trying to see if there is any significant difference between the few brands available to us. Also is it advisable to stick to a certain grade of petrol constantly? Is it okay to mix pumping different grade without any problem as long it fell within the car drinkable range? The car manual only states that it can drink 91-98 RON and sales person recommended anything above 93 RON. With the mixture of results I am also trying out different grade. But well, I don't expect that I could actually feel any differences cos I am really new to driving but my curiosity beats me to that. Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Planning to change to an iPhone, will buy off the normal market and subscribe to a short plan first until iPhone 5 is announced. Which Telco provider should I take? Singtel or Starhub? 16. Am currently pumping Shell 98 for my Honda Civic since i got it 6 months ago. Principal reason to use Shell is cos its the nearest station to home. Recently, understand that Esso is having a bigger discount and am tempted to make a switch. I intend to continue pumping 98 if switching. Questions: (1) Is it bad for my car if I switch from using Shell to Esso? Some people tell me it is always better to stick to the same company. (2) If no, is there an ideal time to switch? e.g. when my tank is almost empty?
  17. Just wanted to vent my anger.... Very TL with this "orange" service provider, 1st offer me 10 over dollars bill rebate and then now 70 bucks handset upgrade. I have been paying at least 150 bucks every mth for my plan. Anyway, will be porting over to the "green" service provider. heard they offer quite good vouchers for renewal Any views on this guys??
  18. By Alfred Siew Operators rush to lock in existing customers with discounted deals for bundled services. ELEVEN years after the cellphone market was liberalised, full competition in mobile services arrives today, allowing users to switch telecom operators and hang on to their old phone numbers. Already, customers are reaping the benefits. In the last few weeks, telcos have been trying to coax existing subscribers to remain loyal with discounted deals. And from today, those who want to switch phone operators - to do this, you simply need to go to a telco and tell them you want to keep your existing number - will also be wooed with discounts and cheaper handsets. The rush to get new subscribers began yesterday at the ongoing PC Show bazaar at Suntec City, where SingTel and StarHub dangled free smartphones to tempt those thinking of switching. Something else to look forward to for those going PC Show. StarHub burned the midnight oil too, running a roadshow at Plaza Singapura till 2 this morning to woo new customers. Full number portability, as the latest move is called, has been in the works for years. When the cellphone market was first liberalised in 1997 to allow more operators in addition to SingTel, it was not available. In its stead then was partial portability, a cumbersome process which merely forwarded calls and SMSes to a new number and left most subscribers less than enthusiastic about switching. In 2006, the Infocomm Development Authority, which regulates telecom services here, called for full number portability to foster more competition. And in April, it announced D-Day for this: Friday the 13th. Since then, telcos have been busy coming up with new deals to keep subscribers and attract new ones. Don't expect to get cheaper plans, however. The basic ones are not: The three telcos' most popular ones cost exactly the same, between $25 and $82, and offer the same services. Don't be fooled. All telcos shared the same father. [/color] Instead, the new deals focus mainly on discounts for bundling - in effect, tempting you to spend more to get bigger discounts. Don't need don't spend. MobileOne (M1) for instance, is offering discounts of up to 35 per cent for users who sign up for five lines - a boon for families willing to pool their services with one telco. The savings can work out to more than $100 a month. Users can share any unused talk-time with another four family members, which means no wastage. Heavyweights SingTel and StarHub, meanwhile, are going for the triple play. They want users to sign up for their cellphone, broadband and pay-TV services. Their 'killer application': exclusive content. StarHub is allowing its cable TV and cellphone users to watch English Premier League games on their small screens, and SingTel is likely to follow suit with European Champions League matches next year. Analysts say content, rather than pricing, will likely be the battleground in future. They add that handsets will be another factor. SingTel's exclusive deal to sell Apple's 3G iPhone is one. Cheaper phones are yet another. SingTel and StarHub, for instance, have been spending 35 per cent to 40 per cent more to woo customers, and the bulk of this goes towards subsidising handsets. While things change today, the battle will continue for some time, possibly well into next year, say experts. 'SingTel, for one thing, has a large war chest aimed at keeping its leadership in the market', so subscribers can expect ever better deals, said a financial analyst who declined to be named. The big winners in this fight will be users, and they cannot wait. Manager Jonathon Ho, 33, is practically licking his lips at the prospect. He said: 'I told my whole family to hold off starting any new contracts until today. We'd be doing some serious scans of the papers for the offers.' Good things comes to those who CAN WAIT. Don't jump now cos you are not Jack or Rose from Titanic.
  19. Hi. I am using the Kenwood DDX7039 DVD Receiver. Each time, I turn on the engine, the screen tilts upwards slightly. I would then simply push it down again. Does any one out there own a similar set and faces the same problem? Is there a setting that I can use to stop this irritating function? Help or advice appreciated. Thanks.
  20. Is it necessary to switch off air con and radio?
  21. Hi, Noticed that more and more cars are turning on their foglights at night in addition to their headlights. Is this actually legal
  22. I have switched from Vpower recently to Mobil/Exxon and noticed a jump in idling after that. When I was using Vpower, idling was about 800-1000rpm but upon switching to Mobil Ron98, it has jumped up to 1500rpm (going up and down). Thinking that the ECU may be the cause. BTW, I have been feeding my Suzuki Swift 1.0GL with Vpower for quite some time now (hehe...overkill but company pay, so use lah) but had to switch to Mobil after my company switched to support Mobil/Exxon instead of Shell. The mileage that I have gotten for full tank seems to be the same (didn't fluctuate drastically) after the change though. I will approach a workshop this weekend, but if possible will like to get some pre-information first to avoid being ripped. :P Hehe, maybe that's the result of putting something too good for an old car.
  23. When you switch lanes, do do it fast fast or slow slow? Poll under the assumption that checks done, coast clear, signal on.
