Something I read from another forum had me spending some time to read up on the 2 supervolcanoes that are showing signs of activity, one of which is relatively nearby: Toba. What is alarming about the Yellowstone park is that Fox TV had reported a year ago that bisons were streaming away from the park as if they are running away from something bad, not sure if they had returned. The fact that it erupts in cycle of 600,000 years to 800,000 years and now is about 640,000 years from last eruption, and also that scientists have confirmed a big magna chamber just below it, is really worrying. Its eruption would really do major damage to USA. http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/story/25159912/animal-exodus-will-yellowstone-super-volcano-erupt http://modernsurvivalblog.com/volcano/how-bad-would-a-yellowstone-eruption-be/ And using that as a reference, our country is definitely within the kill zone if Toba is going to erupt as it is more powerful than the Yellowstone one. It is often said that our country is safe from earthquake, but none studied from that perspective. Perhaps it is time somebody take a serious look how that threat is going to affect our survival. http://planetxnews.com/2015/06/15/indonesias-lake-toba-supervolcano-threatens-global-volcanic-winter-eruption-caused-mass-extinction-75000-years-ago/ http://www.vox.com/2014/9/5/6108169/yellowstone-supervolcano-eruption The bottom line is simply that we do not when the end will come, even the last article I posted has something positive to say. And I hope none would get too alarmed. Just take it as educational read.
