SINGAPORE: There is an industry wide move by banks in Singapore to disable magnetic stripe on all credit and debit cards. This means those cards can no longer be used for overseas retail purchases outside of Singapore. The move is believed to be led by the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS). However when contacted, an ABS spokesperson declined comment and said it will make an announcement on July 30. In response to queries from Channel NewsAsia, some banks said they are ready to join the industry in the move. HSBC said it plans to implement the disabling of the magnetic strips within the month of August. HSBC added that it will exempt customers and auto-enrol their credit and debit cards for overseas use if, according to its records, they have a history of overseas use of their cards, or have an overseas address, so that they can enjoy greater convenience without the need to enrol their cards each time they travel. Meanwhile, DBS said the magnetic stripe on all DBS and POSB cards will be disabled for overseas use starting September 22, 2013. DBS added that this is part of its continuous efforts to enhance card security. Customers can allow or disallow overseas magnetic stripe transactions for both overseas ATMs and point-of-sale terminals at any DBS/POSB ATM and branch or internet banking. - CNA/fa http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singap...ble/760010.html DAFUQ?!

Hey guys, I noticed that my rubber roof strip is petruding out. There's some pink plastic(maybe the hook?) underneath it which i think it's broken. So now one side of the strip comes off easily, and i have to keep pressing it. Anybody knows what to do, or any shops to recommend where they can replace the broken pink plastic or at least keep it from popping out? Thanks

From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg..._ambulance.html Posted on 27 Jun 2012 Woman strips naked after hitting cyclists and prevents ambulance from leaving A woman knocked down a mother and daughter in Shandong province last Sunday (June 17). When the ambulance arrived, the female driver stripped naked and and laid down on the road to block the paramedics from sending the victims to the hospital. The daughter was pronounced dead at the hospital while the mother was left in a critical condition. The driver, Mrs Zhang, was said to be a lecturer at a local junior medical college, specialising in Traditional Chinese medicine and used to teach anatomy and psychiatry. Ironically, witnesses talked about how emotionally unstable she was before and more so after the accident, being rough to her own injured mother who was in the car with her at the time. The article was contributed by the STOMP Team.

Just wanna to vent my anger at the black Hyundai getz with white racing strips across the car along AMK Ave 1 (Caltex)...dun think ur car looks fast, u can ignore other road users on the road. U at petrol station should wait for the traffic to clear before u turned out. I have alr friendly honked at u a few times, but U still turned out and nearly causing a accident with my vehicle and the vehicle on the 2nd lane. Just to let u know that, I have a niece and my wife in the car. My e-brake to prevent the accident cause my niece to hit her head at the door panel as she's sitting near it. If u wanna to act hero that ur car is fast... u think twice before u do it in SG.

Hi all, I have received a few enquiries on a reliable spray painter during yesterday's meetup. Here is the contact of a reputable spray painter. Phua Spray Painting 10 Ang Mo Kio Ind Pk 2A #04-17 T: 64815550 Contact person: Ronnie Phua For the Superb owners who are keen to get the strips colour coded, you can consider spraying the top (smaller) segment of the strip to bright silver to achieve the effect of an Elegance trim Superb. This is definitely a cheaper option to get the original strips with chrome trimmings. Attached is a picture of one such example.

Wanted to share with the Skoda bros and sis here. I got my side strip painted, looking at the both, seems like with the strip it looks nicer, but in real life I prefer it without the strip.

The rear windscreen of my car fogged up this morning, and I turned on the rear defroster. I realised that 4 strips of the defroster are not working, resulting in a half-clear, or rather half-fogged windscreen. Obviously those 4 strips had an open circuit somewhere. Does anyone know how to fix this? My car has v-kool installed. Could it be damaged during installation? The last time I've changed my v-kool was early this year, and I didn't had a chance to test the defroster since then. It was working ok before that.
