  1. Mercedes-Benz is recalling about 85,000 vehicles in the U.S. for an issue related to the power-steering system that could result in a loss of power assistance. The recall covers the 2010 Mercedes-Benz C-Class and E-Class models, along with the 2010 and 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet models that were manufactured between June 1, 2009 and February 28, 2010. According to Mercedes-Benz parent company Daimler, a connection fitting where the high-pressure power-steering line meets the power-steering pump, wasn't adequately tightened during production. This could cause it to loosen over time. Although a clamping plate keeps it from detaching completely, fluid leakage could occur. So far there have been no related injuries or incidents, other than a few cases whereby customers noticed a minor loss of power steering effort while parking. When vehicles are returned to dealerships for an inspection, the affected connection fitting will be inspected and tightened up.
