New way of jump starting your car. No need to carry around jumper cables or waiting for some good Samaritan to help you. There are a few brands around. Powerall and Genius Noco available at Amazon are probably the better made ones. There are also chinese knock-offs available at aliexpress at much lower price. But if you're driver or regularly going MY, you certainly should consider having one, just like having a spare tyre. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=d3Mr7GYNa84

I am thinking to buy either 70mai Car Jump Start 11100mAh Portable Car Jump Starter or BASEUS Power Starter Super Energy Car Jump Starter 8000mAh 800A 12V. Does anyone have any feedback on these products?

I drive a honda ridgeline pickup truck and my wife drive a honda civic. I've been looking for a decent jumpstarter that would be powerful enough for both of our vehicles. Rather then having 2 various models it just seemed easier to get two identical units. After reading reviews on several various jump-starters I opted for this model. Now the most negative thing I could find about this thing was it lacked a flat charger so you couldn't leave it plugged in. For me that's not even a factor, after all I bought this to charge it and then put it in the trunk of my wifes car and in the cargo area of my truck. I don't intend on leaving this plugged in. So if you plan on using this HOW IT IS DESIGNED then you too don't even need to worry about the lack of a float charger. That being said, the unit itself is a bit heavy, imagine picking up really big battery, that's essentially what this is. It has some weight to it. The jumpstarter itself also features an interesting little light that pivots as well as an air compressor. I've heard/read back reviews on the air compressor, for me it's not why I bought it. But initial checks it looks like it works fine and even has somewhere to store the air hose which is really nice. The one negative I have on this thing is the power switch for the air compressor is on the back and is not protected. In other words it could in theory be flipped on and drain the battery. So when you need to jump your car the starter would be dead. I wish they put a cover or moved the switch but honestly it would take a perfect mistake for that to get turned on so it's really not that critical. To prevent this from potentially happening I actually went down to Target and bought 2 milk crates, one for me and one for my wife. I put a jump starter, first aid kit, oil, etc in the crate so it's essentially the roadside emergency crate and also protects the jumpstarter from getting knocked around and/or turned on. Overall I spent $140 total on 2 of these and I'm really happy with the quality. They charge overnight easily, the indicator lights show you the charge remaining on the battery and it has power ports for 12volt and USB which is an added bonus. If you need a jumpstarter I would definitely consider this one.

Hi all, My car's starter motor was changed in 2011 to a brand new unit. However, it gave me problems today and I was advised to repair it. My trusted workshop quoted me an approximate figure of $200-$300 for re-conditioning. Does anyone know a direct source where I can get it re-conditioned at a cheaper price instead? I am amazed at why a starter motor would fail so frequently. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I've been observing the above for many years of different makes and models....and one of the best sounding one for a bread and butter brand is Mitsubishi Galant's V6 ( Model E54 circa 1993 - 1996 ). Yes there are other as good or better sounding ones...but those are for cars that's many times more expensive...What's your take ?

My alarm system had been giving me some problems lately, eg. - super short range - sometimes unlock, sometimes don't want to unlock. - sometimes alarm activated for no good reason, causing loads of noise for nothing I also had a URES (universal remote engine start) that was designed locally by a friend. This little electronic gadget attaches itself to any alarm system to allow for the remote control to be also used to start the car from a distance away. So when my alarm system finally went hay-wire, I looked around for a few shops to quote me on a simple alarm system change, ie. - able to lock/unlock the car - able to sound off as an alarm - no need for fancy shock sensors, gps, two way, blah blah blah features Most of the shops quoted me around $180 for that . This guy managed to get a set for much lower. On top of that, he re-connected my old URES to the alarm system and now I can start my car from a distance too. The URES is pretty neat too, allowing me to set the following things into it:- - engine crank time - electrical system delay after engine start, eg. switch on air-con after "x" amount of time after engine start - pit-stop function up to 20min (let's me remove the key from the car, leaving the engine running and lock the car, good when I may have passenger in the car who wants some safety while I go pay for something nearby or grab a newspaper from a shop) - turbo-timer function And to think that my URES was one of the first generation pieces that he designed too. It was previously fitted in my old Vios, but I didn't have time to do it up in my Silvia until last weekend when he changed my alarm system too. And it's very easy to self-set the various functions too, all with the use of the key turns and brake pedal only. Now my basic alarm system can do the following:- - Lock/Unlock (arm/disarm) - decent long range now - Finder mode - Autolock doors only after stepping on brakes 2nd time while driving - Side indicators blink when any door is open, even when car is off - URES : Remote Engine Start / Stop (consistent crank time) - URES : Pit-Stop (set at 15min) - URES : Delayed electronics on (set at 5 sec) Universal Remote Engine Starter (ENHANCED Version) [inline URES.JPG]

With reference to this thread: http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/General_C1...-_Gad._P943322/ Dtvox have suggested that thread starter should 'look after' their own thread. ~ Great suggestion. I sincerely seek your co-operation in 'looking after' those thread which you have started, regardless of where you start it. How you should go about doing it. For example: You started a thread asking for " Carbon Clearing " asking about what chemical to use. Should anyone start to drift and talk about toll charges in Malaysia. As the thread starter, you may want to gently remind that person not to drift in that thread as you want to gather info about the type of chemical to use and not about toll charges. Should you feel that you are too shy or dun know how to go about reminding others, do feel free to drop a pm to any of the mods of that respective folder. No Political Posting. (12 April 07) It seems like there is an increase in Political related posting made in MCF. Please be reminded that this is a Car forum, kindly do not post any political comments in MCF. After 6 months and 25k km, my black ride is looking a bit jialat with small scratches and swirls. I'm thinking of DIY detailing but am newbie to this. I chanced upon this Klasse Starter Kit (1 x AIO (100ml) + 1 x SG (100ml)) at their website http://www.klassesg.com/store.html which claims to be enough 'to do up 3 Toyota Vios'. Their price of $19.90 is cheap and I'm thinking of trying this out. Realistically speaking, for a newbie like me who might end up using more than necessary, do you guys think this 100ml package can really last 1 vios (not to mention 3)??? Somemore mine is black car...
