  1. hi all the ICE gurus out there - my brother's Wish HU is a Kenwood KDC-PS9016A. No power amplifier, just 2 stock speakers at front doors and 2 added Sony speakers at rear doors. Right now the sound in his car is sort of crappy (to me anyway). Will it make much difference in sound quality if he just replaces the front pair with component speakers? Without installing an amplifier. Coz he's not into ICE and not planning to spend too much or have too many things installed in his car. Thanks.
  2. Dear Esteemed Readers, It is with a heavy heart and a huge dose of disillusionment that I would like to share with you a personal anecdote about the Nissan Qashqai. Firstly, to be fair, with respect to the road tax- and petrol- saving 1.2 L Qashqai, the first five years of driving had been a breeze. However, all heel broke loose, merely a day after my Qashqai's 6th birthday last September. The chronology of my Qashqai's meltdown is as follows (I apologise for any technical typo): A. Replacement of the faulty (1) Evaporator Cooling Coil $320 (6 Sep 2021) (2) Dashbox $280 (6 Sep 2021) (3) Tow Truck Activation $140 (29 Oct 2021) (3) Thermostat Housing $270 (30 Oct 2021) (4) Manifold Gadget $60 (30 Oct 2021) (5) Fan Motor - Air Con $320 (30 Oct 2021) B. Dismantling and Assembly Costs in total $470 C. Locked gearbox with inability to shift the gear from Parking to Drive As recently as last December, it had taken me an average of 5 to 10 minutes to wait for the gearbox to disengage and move off but the situation dovetailed to a complete lockdown last month in which I have to use a pen to depress the Shift Lock button in every instance of gear shifting. D. Busted Speakers The last straw that broke the camel's back occurred yesterday when suddenly, the speakers just blared as loud as a car horn within the car (even at the lowest volume), the intensity of which still leaves me shell-shocked. I sincerely hope that the aforementioned sequence of unfortunate events only applies to yours truly but on a cautious note, I would strongly urge you to re-consider your buying option upon selection of a second-hand Qashqai. Thank you for reading.

  5. Hello. I am on Sony head unit and speakers, JBL amp and subwoofer. Recently when driving sound on right side would go out suddenly. It can be resolved by cranking up the volume very high and back down to normal volume again. However the sound on right may go out again, randomly, on the right side after that. What may be spoilt? Fuse? or is it a spoiling head unit? Thanks
  6. Hi, Does any bros used Brax speakers before ? Thinking of getting the matrix speakers. Wondering how's the sound
  7. just thought to share my experience with the folks here, on my pleasant experience with an honest and very reasonably price audio shop. had some wiring problems that kept draining my car's battery as the previous owner had installed some aftermarket accessories that has been quietly discharging the battery, leaving me needing to jump start my car very often. so decided that this has to stop and finally found the time to fix the problem. after several calls, finally decided on oversea union motor accessories, was selected by me as it was located near beach road as i am too lazy to drive all the way to ubi area, where tons of audio shops are located. so a quick 5min, mr warran, help me dismantle all the foreign cables and my battery discharging problem, is solved the damage, $10 dollars. when compare to other audio shops price range of between $30 to $80. its very down to earth prices have make an appointment to change other items within the car next week just thought to share with bros here , on how to stretch your dollar this is the number
  8. Hi Experts this may have crop up many time but i need some advice here. My current setup is a semi-passive 3 way speaker for the front and coaxial for the rear back speakers. I have an amplifier driving all of them togther with an 8 channel processor. Was wondering if upgrading the back speakers to component would have a significant difference to the surround sound, According to articles on the web it mentioned that you should not use component for the back as it may affect the sound stage and imagining of the sound as the back speakers are more like a filler or support for the front speakers. However i believe it is under the assumption that there is no dsp. Having a dsp should be able to solve that issue? Your thoughts guys, component or to stay as coaxial. Please healthy discussion please, I believe we are here to learn and share knowledge. Cheers
  9. Hi guys, Recently I replaced the front speakers to aftermarket and added an sub to the original Mazda Bose System. The result was sure better off than the original bose system. Now I am considering adding on an amp to power the new front speaker but was told by the workshop that as the built in was a bose amp, it requires an amp with built in processor which is rather costly. If using normal 4 channel amp to power the fronts, the result coulbe be worst than current stage. Anyone who have converted their Mazda Bose System could share your valuable experience and set up here?
  10. Anyone with experience of 2" full range speakers? Audiobank, Sound stream, Omni Beyond, Debezt, Caewales, Enzonic, VF, Music Hawk, Audiobank,

  12. I'm looking to improve the audio of my car and looking at a DSP/Amp and/or speakers. Would it make senses to do the DSP/Amp first and see if it's sufficient ? Or should I just change the speakers first ? Does the shop normally charge to retune the DSP if you get the speakers elsewhere? Should this be something you can do yourself ?
  13. i am looking to restart my ICE DIY again... since the old ice forums sgsoundsystem die out, anyone knows if there are still any general active ICE forums in SG? or is mycarforum the only general one left? now everyone separated, so lets see if we can re-start. i know Bobcat recently appointed Emma Judge. there is still ICE competitions, but very very low key already. lets see, i got Pioneer P99RS ready for 3 way active. 3 way component speakers ??? 15. Hey guys most would know i recentley bought a lexus gs450h (2010 model) After changing the hybrid battery, most were good, till we heard some stuttering on the front door speakers at higher bass parts of the sound track. From what ive read online, ive read that this is a very very common problem for all lexus cars from that time period and it is possible to just repair the foam itself on the speakers without needing to replace the pair of speakers. Any opinions and experiences will help, as i rather repair than change to a lousier speaker in my car.. Thanks as always

  19. Hey guys, So after many years of abuse (more like the last 2 once my 3-year old twins started crawling), I'm thinking of selling my 12 year old Infinity Alpha speakers which I use as my 5.1. Also my big beef is my current amp - Denon AVR 1910 - which is very flakey when switching inputs. And staying in a smallish flat now and not waiting to piss off my new neighbours, I'm thinking of going with a smaller 5.1 setup. Not like Bose small... more like bookshelves. Looking at a few bookshelf speakers for front and surrounds from Wharfedale and Boston Acoustice. Also checked out some Yamaha but they sound tinny after the full warm sound of my old towers. Any other recommendations for bookshelves with an AVR with at least 4 HDMI inputs? Budget about 2k.
  20. If your are extremely pleased with your ICE upgrade done, please recommend your installer here, and the work done. Please keep this constructive and factual, for the benefit of others considering their options. Do share what did you get done to your ride? What components did you change? What has improved? So, please only those with positive experience need share here. Thanks.

  22. Hi Fellow Gurus ... A colleague chance upon one of the shop in SLT where they quoted Focal 165V1 for $330, SRX4 is $630, and they claimed they have agent warranty. I am not too sure of the market price though, but thought 165V1 is at least $400-$500 ? Or is it 165A1 (is it a lower range than v1?). Any comments ? pricing seems good leh/ Cheers HUNGEE
  23. Noticed quite a lot of installer carrying the Micro-Precision speakers. Due to budget constraints, for their range of speakers I can only look for the 3-series. Has any user installed this 3-series speakers and has any feedback on the speakers? Any other speakers would you recommend within the price range of the Micro Precision 3-Series?
  24. Hello, Am wondering anyone invested on a good speaker Bose Companion 20 or Companion 5 before? Any regrets? And of course I know you are paying a premium for these speakers. Easily cost you > S$500 to S$750.
  25. Hi all, Currently driving vios for work.. but front speaker was removed.. Very irritating when I fetch passengers because I cannot turn on the music volume.. rear passengers always complaining.
