Will the solutions be autopilot? Because humans have errors and lead to traffic build up?

AS titled. Since the oil giants dun wanna sell it here. Are there any fuel additives and octane boosters out there in the market that have proven to give an extra +2 Ron on our 98Ron petrols?

My first time starting thread. Lets talk about new car in the market. Why COE so expensive..? I did abit of brain storming, this might be 1 of the reason why its forever so high.. AD bidding up high.. as they are earning base on commission. how much to earn from 110k & a 40k with 0.2% - 0.5% ++ SO maybe they bid up high as well as to easily secure a ticket for their own payroll. *if we stop AD to bidding behalf for us, this might improve alittle bit more.. instead AD keep calling us & told us to top up abit more to get the COE. & second solution is, not to allow AD to keep the COE bidding. I heard that AD are able to keep it for some grace period. AD

To all bros using Proton Gen2,Satria Neo,Persona,Saga Blm,Exora and Preve If your engine got squeak sound especially during cold start its either your fanbelt that's need silicone spray/Belt spray or just rub a soap under the belting. For cars under 15000km its normal cause of driving under raining condition. If squeaking during you turn on a/c it's mostly your tensioner bearings that probably worn out. This applied to cars under 30000km.If continuously got squeaking then probably your belts having stress out due to over tightened or loose,You probably have to get it check asap.Campro timing belt it's best to change during 60000-70000km not 80000 as per recommend cause our engine is Alloy and generate a lot of heat compared to others especially always drive during afternoon.Campro belting and tensioner brands is also not so durable compared to japs or other makes. For engine with IAFM if occurred a knocking sound it's not tappet but its mostly the inlet manifold and canister purge valve.Get this at JB eon for under 370 rm.Most Svc Ctr will say your iafm gone case and would charge you a hefty 1150 to replace! The new manifold is slightly improved over the previous gen cause its a new hard plastic material. For IAFM without modification it's best using 50series eo ie 10W-50,5W-50 or even 15W-50.For normal Campro recommend is 15W-40 or 20W-40 and CPS its 5W-30(Exora CPS) or 10W-30..For auto cars its better use drop in stainless steel filters suchs as K&N,Simota,Works engineering or Project S.For manual can go for open pod with heat shield and better with cold air intake.Extractor recommend is 4-2-1 for auto and 4-1 for manual.4-2-1 for manual is also recommend if you want low and mid torque.Campulley etc better buy from R3 as they can remapped your ecu tally with those gadgets you install.Remember most aftermarket workshops don't really knows about Campro engine so if in doubt get an advice and do diagnose at Proton Svc Ctr before doin top overhaul of remapping your ecu.

My two cents I think COE should be tied to a person not a vehicle. You also cannot rebate the COE halfway. Once you buy it, you have to use it up for 10 years. Reasons 1) the current system is VERY UNSTABLE. It encourages huge supply spikes because when the prices go down in 2005, 2006, it made EVERYONE who has bought an expensive COE in 2002, 2003 kill their cars to get COE rebate. This is super wasteful as the car is only 3 years old and it makes a huge problem down the road as there is NO COEs expiring in 2012, 2013. This is just stupid. The system will converge all the supply into bumper years while other years become famine. 2) allowing people to transfer their COE to different cars is better because after all, COE is to restrict number of cars on the road. If I kill my car, why should I need to buy another COE for a new car if my COE still have some years? This give Citizens more stability and peace of mind. I mean if I am driving a $10k COE car now, and the car gives me problems, what I am to do? 3) By preventing COE rebate, it will make people bid LESS. Because current mentality is bid more never mind, if COE drops in the future, I get kill the car and bid for a new one. By tying people to a 10 year period, it will really drive down COE bid price. 4) by tying it to people, it is so much easier to implement household restrictions. Married couples can only own 1 car. 2nd car is 3x the amount or something like that.

Everyone complain about the high COEs prices and overpopulated car ownerships in Singapore, but there seems to be no solutions. I hate people who likes to complain but offer no solutions. So I propose some ideas of mine.. 1. COE. Scrap the current, all successful bidders will pay the minimum COE price for that bidding. New changes, for example, there are 1000 COEs but 2000 bids for them. So 1000 successful bids will pay the COE prices accordingly to what they have bidded. Some will pay few dollars for their COEs while some will pay tens of thousands for their COEs. This will keep the COE prices in check. 2. One household/address can only own 1 car. If within that same household/address, want to own a 2nd car or third car, can.. For the 2nd car, pay 1.5 times the price of the more expensive car. The 3rd car, pay 1.75 times. 4th, pay 2 times. Of course you may say, register the address to another address, where there is no car ownership, can.. no problem, just pay $$$ to keep the bugger from exposing the deed. But when dealing with $$$, sure will have some arguments and most likely will kenna exposed.. Thanks for reading, how's my solution to the overpopulated car ownership in Singapore?

Radical solutions can and have solved problems even the experts fail to resolve. For example: if you have only a tiny 'fun' dog the size of a kitten, how do you make it work for you stop burglers breaking into your house? Tiny dog against 200 pounder burgler, or even a noraml 70kg desparate drug addict trying to steal our money while you are sleeping? Impossible?? No, it's highly possible AND effective!! ............ you only need two things to turn this tiny dog into burgler-stopper, no need to swap it with a huge watchdog... you need: #1 an burgler alarm button where the tiny dog can reach easily (go NTUC hyper mart to get one, cheap), #2 the dog must not fall asleep (easy, they dont) Train the tiny dog to press the button whenever he sees stranger at night (most dog, 99% can be easily trained to do it) Ok, back to the topic. One radical solution I can think of also has the side benefit of reducing air pollution. Why do people need cars? Ans: to get from A to B (work, shop, leisure, see friends, etc). In tiny singapore, these journeys usually last not more than 10 to 40 mins and therefore it doesnt matter if you travel in a big (ie E or S- class merc) or small (1000cc or below) car. The comfort or lack of it on this relatively short trips is not going to be a big issue. So, let's make it a default mode of travel within Spore by, wait for it..... using a car-shareing system where the user can pre-book the use of such a small car and pay for the use based of length of use and whether it's peak or non-peak hours. A car-sharing system allows the costs of car ownership / maintenance etc to be shared amongst the users. This is more economical as compared of owning / maintaining one's own private car. After all, why pay for full costs of ownership if he only uses his car less than half the time?? The car-sharing system can have its fleet consists of mainly 1000cc cars (good enough for most users) and some larger models. It can have these cars parked at strategic locations for users to pick up and return. There are electronic systems available for booking, payments etc etc. In fact there are already a few such systems in Spore market, only thing is that they are not large scale. If somehow LTA can make it attractive thru its rules for the people to use such a system, plus making great improvements in MRT / Buses, we can see traffic congestions reduced in a big way. Why? for daily trips to work, more people will take MRT / buses, those who insist on driving, can use the car-share system and pay for it. But when he reaches his office and park the shared-car, the car can be reused by another user who will pay for the use. During the day. This way, we wont see car parks in office areas full of idle cars between 9am-6pm, the cars are being used by others who need them during office hours. Same for weekends and public holidays, the same fleet of shared-cars will be booked and used by families who need them for say between 1 to 8 hours whatever it is. The key advantages are: (a) Shared cost, (b) Cars are fully utalised instead of parked idling. Due to fleet ownership, the companies who operates these cars have the economy of scale to keep maintenance low. The roadtax / insurance costs are shared by many 'users' through rentals. So with the above system, we have low cost use of cars and if these cars are hybric or electric, our envirnment will be cleaner than it is now. You may ask: if I dont like the cars such a system offers, can I have my model of choice? Yes, you will have to buy and maintain one as per current situation, but LTA may up the COE / rdtax / ERP for such private car and use the money collected to off-set the costs of keeping such car-shared systems. ie you pay for the option of having the model you like. On the average, four 1000cc cars use the same road space of three full size cars, or even less. This certainly will help ease traffic congestions. For those who die die must have either big or high power cars, as explain above, they can have it but pay a high price. Yes, it's a socialists' concept, but due to our small land size and high population density, it seems to be a viable solution. The details can be worked out especially with electronic smart systems available in the global market. BTW, LTA can also rent out high power / big cars on requests, at a higher price as mentioned. I wont mind splurging and rent one once in a while. This way, i can still get to enjoy such cars (say on weekends, or once in a while) without having to buy and maintain one in full. I can even try out different models for each weekends. Overall, we can have a choice of MRT / buses or rent/share a car. It's more cost effective and we can have less traffic congestions and a cleaner environment.

1. Impose smaller quota for < 1600cc cars. If you realise, those are the ones that causes slowdown on slopes because they crawl like turtle 2. Charge COE based on volumetric size. Why does Honda Civic 2L pay the same COE as Camry 2L where Camry is clearly the bigger car? Afterall, traffic is contributed by how much space each vehicle takes up on the road 3. Give COE rebates with family with kids. we want them to maximise the use of transportation in a car, not taking up space on the MRT with that stroller 4. Implement a car pool lane, they have that in USA. Any car with more than one passenger can use the lane.

Hi All, Looking for solution of a problem, enough of complaining. Yesterday, I went over to the West and took AYE back home. I was on Lane 1, right most lane, overtaking the slower vehicles on the middle lane. From my rear view mirror, i could see a big good vehicle (those with big freezer) veered onto the right most lane going "at least 90km/h" straight on my back. Two thoughts flashed my mind: 1) wtf is a lorry (suppose to be 50 or 60km/h max) doing on the right most lane on an expressway. 2) Is there an urgent delivery of the frozen chicken on the truck? (I like KFC ) I purposely slowed down to the legal speed of this vehicle around 65km/h on the right lane and blocked his overtaking stunt. He tailgated me and went on to middle lane when there is no vehicle. He intended to overtake me on the right most lane but I managed to speed up to block his attempt. Yes, its evil of me, but in my mind, such vehicles going onto the expressway right lane is getting way too common. Both dangerous and illegal. Any constructive suggestions to prevent drivers of such stunts?
