  1. a 4 pot with no balancer shaft ? Or 4 pot engine with balancer shaft as smooth as a V6 ? Would like to hear from bros and sisters who've compared both and would like to hear your personal experience. Thanks in advance
  2. Article from Asia one. http://www.asiaone.com/Motoring/Owners/Sto...029-176699.html Excerpt from the article....... "The survey of 4,000 respondents - 40 per cent were motorists and the rest public transport commuters - was meant to help transport planners gauge what motorists and commuters are willing to pay to save time." Perhaps we sld be wiser when we answer any surveys from the govt in future? Surveys do have an impact on the govt policy given the recent plans to double ERP charges at certain gantries....
  3. Hi, just an update to the bros and sis here. My ride hit 37000km this week and seems like it is smoother than before, the ride seems more silent, the suspensions seems to grace over every little bumps better, the steering seems less heavy, and the power seems better. - what happened? How did it get better? Is it really broken in after so long? Well all I know was after the 30K servicing and throttle body clean and new sparks the car drive seems better. I wonder how about the rest?
  4. I was overseas for the past 2 weeks, and upon returning, I realied that my Getz is more powerful. Later I realised that my bro-in-law, who had been using my car during my absence had pumped 98RON petrol. I always pump 95RON. So 98RON does make a car more powerful. The engine is now quieter and smoother. I thought so long as the min RON is used, it's fine, but now I realised that higher RON makes a car more powerful, and quieter and refined!
  5. Hi Guys, I've did quite a bit of things last sat. 1) Oil change (standard carrefour cxxxxxe) 2) Oil filter (this time bought original. Last time occasionally also will) 3) Air filter (change every 20 or 30K. Religiously bought no brand ones) 4) Spark plugs. Last time always buy the $2.80 bosch plugs. Now it's the $2.50 autolite plugs 5) Tuned the "slow" idling to a bit faster so that engine don't vibrate that much. 6) Wash engine After servicing, the following day, I realised that when I started the car, the engine sound was a bit quieter. Usually, for the past 4 years (I always listen carefully everytime I start the car one - habit), esp when I start the car in the morning, I'll hear a few seconds of tappet sound....then no more. Now, I completely can't hear it liao when I start the car. So seems to be an improvement. Last time...I remembered when the car was super new....Mazda Motors was using the normal thick engine oil. Always hear the tappety sound for like 10secs when cold start. Then when I started using fully synthetic, Mobil1, Shell Helix, blah....Then I realised that the tappety sound only last for first few 3-5 secs. Btw, the tappet sound very light only. Since 2 years back, I started using cxxxxxe liao. And only after this servicing, I realised the diff. So happy. What do you guys think it could be the prob or servicing that made this difference? Can't be the car wash right? But it's the only significant thing done so far! 4 years of tappet sound leh. now suddenly don't have liao. so happy you know.
