  1. am I the only one ecnountering vehicles spewing insane amount of smoke on the roads? No right? Maybe I am the only boliao enough the pull the footage of the car cam... Why isn't the gov doing something about this? Isn't it like a simple fix? The first traffic police vehicle should pull this guy off the road and give him a fine/warning. How can this guy drive around with no penalty? To me it is a simple fix and yet this problem has been around for many years... Or is that amount of smoke within regulation? smoke.mp4
  2. Ever seen a car with a big plume of white smoke in its wake? Guess you are going to now! Passers-by who happened to be in the vicinity of the local Jaguar dealership were treated to the amazing sight of a trail of billowing smoke from a black car that peeled into the premises. Watch the video here: 305049755_171661618772581_2698647415225735711_n.mp4 That's crazy! Talk about smoking! At the start the car's smoking trail was already quite a sight to behold. But then, the height of the smoke trail just kept growing, and growing... till it covered a good portion of the dealership front! The smoke was slowly dissipating in the wake of the car's departure, lending to its mysterious getaway not unlike a scene from a James Bond movie... We wonder if the car was rushing in for a refund! Just kidding. The Scientific Explanation We don't see this everyday--- so why do such phenomena occur? One of the reasons we found was that coolant could have gotten into the car's combustion chambers, thereby causing the appearance of the white smoke. In some cases, it could also be that the driver used the wrong fuel for his car (very dangerous) or that there was high friction from the tyres, generating the white smoke. Jokes of the day As expected, netizens made us chuckle with their witty takes on this unusual occurrence. LOL! It really does remind us of the fumigation sessions at the grass patches! Hmm, maybe it was Jaguar who opted for a new in-house service instead! Another netizen remarked that it looked like the dry ice trail from the Swensen's ice cream... We won't disagree... The food comments are making us really hungry, lol! Not an everyday sighting While it was an interesting sight, we hope the driver of the car gets his vehicle checked out for good as generating this amount of smoke often could be harmful to the environment and pedestrians around him. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10291649/Radical-new-laws-stop-young-people-buying-cigarettes-New-Zealand-goes-smoke-free.html?ito=social-facebook Anyone aged under 14 will be banned from EVER buying cigarettes in their life The age limit will be increased each year until it's illegal throughout New Zealand The target is to wipe out smoking entirely by 2025 as part of 15-year scheme Other changes include only allowing the sale of tobacco with low nicotine levels However, the new law will not impact vaping, with Dr Verrall saying tobacco smoking is more harmful and remains a leading cause of preventable deaths in New Zealand, killing up to 5,000 people each year. So everyone will just switch to vape there, which is illegal in Singapore. I'm waiting for tobacco tax comments. Those driving EV should be the first to quit smoking because it's quite the hypocrisy to claim you're going green to help the fight in climate change yet not know that all phases of cigarette production contribute to greenhouse gas emission, and let's not forget the consumption. I could be wrong but I'm sure there's a significant amount of environmental footprint with the carbon dioxide and pollutants released into the atmosphere. 😶 So let's go full EV and quit smoking by 2040 or make it sooner, 2030.
  4. I have a neighbour living one floor above me and I'm also on talking terms with me. Recently his daughter married and son-in-law came to stay with them. This is where it all started.... he would open the grills, stick his head out of the windows and blow smoke out of his room. I will have to close my windows everytime he smoke... 1 an hour if he's home. So what can I do and what's my rights? Complain to HDB can or not? Or speak to the father-in-law? Kindly advise

  7. Was traveling along the CTE towards Ang Mo Kio yesterday evening at around 645pm at the third lane, i.e extreme left lane. The second car in front of me, a greenish silver BMW E90 with SGJ plate suddenly emitted a lot of white smoke from his exhaust and the effect was almost like a smoke bomb, enough to decrease visibility to almost zero across 3 lanes. The car in front me braked suddenly and I almost crashed into him, the thick white smoke also almost cause a chain collision on my right. Not angry or anything, but I hope the BMW driver's vehicle is ok and not too expensive to fix. The amount of white smoke emitted is really scary!

  9. I've seen many buses operating on roads with huge black fumes coming out from exhaust. Will you report them? On 2nd thought it's a wise move to keep quiet cause 1) car park prices just increased 2) the last thing we would want is public transport to increase

  12. Many of us from the 70's will remember this man ........... I started smoking after seeing you but quit much earlier than you ... R.I.P. yahoo news: Ex-Marlboro man dies from smoking-related disease LOS ANGELES (AP) — When it came to portraying the rugged western outdoorsman who helped transform a pack of filtered cigarettes into the world's most popular brand, Marlboro Man Eric Lawson was the real deal. Ruggedly handsome, the actor could ride a horse through the wide-open spaces of the Southwest, from Texas to Colorado to Arizona or wherever else the Phillip Morris tobacco company sent him to light up while representing a true American icon, the cowboy. And he really did smoke Marlboro cigarettes, as many as three packs a day. Lawson was still smoking in 2006 when he was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He died of the disease at his home in San Luis Obispo on Jan. 10. He was 72. For three years in the late 1970s and early '80s, Lawson portrayed one of the most iconic figures in both advertising and popular culture. And for the past several years, Lawson had spoken out fiercely about the hazards of smoking, doing a public service announcement for the American Cancer Society in the 1990s, years before he was able to bring himself to quit. "He tried to speak to the kids, telling them don't start smoking," his wife, Susan Lawson, told The Associated Press. "He already knew cigarettes had a hold on him." more on his news, link: http://sg.entertainment.yahoo.com/news/ex-marlboro-man-dies-smoking-related-disease-034350253.html

  24. A NATIONWIDE search has been launched in Taiwan to hunt down a man who encourages a child, believed to be below three years old, to smoke and drink. The Taiwanese have pledged to catch the middle-age man and bring him to book for his "unforgiven misconduct". The action was initiated by John Tung Foundation, an organisation to promote the Respect for Life and Health for All in Taiwan. Its Tobacco Hazard Prevention Section chief Lin Ching-li said members would inform the Department of Health of the man's behaviour. She said they would also seek help from the Ministry of the Interior to hunt him down, China Times reported. The exposure of two video clips about him giving a cigarette and beer to the boy he carried in his arms, sparked outrage and anger in Taiwan. The clips were uploaded to the island's popular website Wu Ming Xiao Zhan. In the video, the man was seen offering a cigarette to the child as several others surrounding them helped to block the wind and lighted up the cigarette. The man then asked the boy to show the "audiences" how to flick off the ash. He also gave a can of beer to the boy and asked him to drink it. It was obvious that the man is not the child's father as he had asked the boy to call him Ah Pek (uncle).
