hope this is the right section, went down to sports museum at kallang stadium yesterday, felt so proud seeing the silver medal the great tan howe liang won at the rome Olympics in 1960. this was the era of simple n basic training methods n facilities, no sports science, no huge monetary rewards, no multi million dollar training facilities, no professional coaches..... during 80s, used to head down to the demolished stadium gym n had on numerous occasions, met the great Mr Tan Howe Liang, who never had any airs n ever helpful, teaching us how to use the equipment there. Hes a true Son Of Singapore, not an imported FT, proud he could win a silver medal for our little red dot. together wif ang peng siong, who in 1982 was the worlds fastest man in the pool, should inspire future generations of home grown talents like the quah family n joseph schooling n others

Hi guys, my car is silver color. I was lazy and didn't wash for a few months. Now some areas can see dirt streaks caused by rain, and they don't come off when washing. I tried clay bar also cannot. Should I buy polishing product and try to polish myself by hand to remove the streaks or do I need to send to professionals who can use the machine?

I witnessed a hit and run by a SMRT taxi in the carpark area of Tampines Blk 424 around 6.10 pm this evening (20 Sep). My car cam captured the SMRT reversing and hitting i think was a silver Chevy Cruze on the front right side. Car cam resolution was not good enough to see the license plate of the taxi. I wanted to give chase to the taxi but was too slow. Sorry to the bro whose car was hit. I have screen shot two photos of the taxi 'in action'. I think got case if lodge complaint with SMRT and ask them to check if any of their taxis was in the vicinity at that time...i think all taxis have GPS positioning and the companies would know the exact whereabouts right? Hope the photos help.

Was having a chat with a friend who'd been buying Silver every month for investment (paper and actual silver) Why silver I ask, as compare to gold, he say Silver fluctuate more than gold. I'm a bit skepticle on this fluctuation thingi. is it true that Silver is a better investment commodity compare to gold? and where can you buy gold in singapore? UOB? what are other charges besides the implied 7% GST? I'm looking at setting aside a few hundred every month to load up bits by bits...

Elderly residents in Bukit Merah View can now stroll around with greater ease of mind due to enhanced road safety measures. The estate is the first of five to benefit from the Land Transport Authority's Silver Zone programme, which aims to make roads safer for elderly pedestrians. Features like enlarged centre dividers that allow for two-stage crossing are introduced. The speed limit in such zones has also been reduced to 40kmh wherever possible. Cars entering Silver Zones will see signs informing them of such zones, along with three rumble strips on the road to inform motorists to slow down. Other traffic features aimed at slowing down traffic, like chicanes - gentle curves along sections of roads - and lanes with reduced width have also been installed to ensure that cars do not speed along roads with high senior use. Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and Health Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim said at the launch event on Saturday that seniors are "over-represented" in traffic accidents, and that the situation must be improved. He noted that 40 per cent of all pedestrian fatalities and 20 per cent of pedestrian injuries involved seniors. Dr Faishal, however, cautioned that road safety does not end with these silver zones and that road safety is the "shared responsibility" of all road users. The Silver Zones in Jurong West, Yishun and Bedok will be completed by the first quarter of 2015, and Marine Parade by first quarter of 2016. The five estates were chosen for their high senior population and relatively higher accident rates involving seniors. Rolls-Royce offers three new materials for the 'flying lady' ornament
SYF77 posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Recently, the term 'material changes' has been used frequently in the war of words between political parties in Singapore. In this blog post, 'material changes' is taken quite literally as Rolls-Royce offers a choice of three new materials for the flying lady hood ornament. The flying lady - also known as the Spirit of Ecstasy - was designed by English sculptor Charles Robinson Sykes (1875 - 1950). According to wikipedia, the story behind it is apparently a secret love between John Walter Edward Douglas-Scott-Montagu, (second Lord Montagu of Beaulieu and editor of The Car Illustrated magazine from 1902) and his secretary and model for the emblem - Eleanor Velasco Thornton. The most interesting choice among the three choices is the illuminated polycarbonate flying lady. It looks identical to the one seen on the 101EX-concept, a prototype that was presented at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show. The other two choices are the gold-plated flying lady and a solid sterling silver version. Polycarbonate is a durable material with high impact-resistance and low scratch-resistance. Hence, a hard coating is applied to polycarbonate exterior automotive components. Unlike most thermoplastics, polycarbonate can undergo large plastic deformations without cracking or breaking. If a buyer does not see the need to cough out extra money for these special ornaments, they can always stick to the original stainless steel version.-

Saw a staff shouting F*** at a customer this morning in IMM. Seemed like the staff is a FT. He was screaming that his name is Gary. Was shocked. Is this becoming the service standard in Singapore ?

beware of this driver. Dun drive too close to him. This driver will jam brake and cut into lane anytime, worse, park his car inbetween two lane when he forced himself into the others lane and causing jam......

If you are the mid age female driver or know the driver, please ask her stop driving. 1) She drove out of a fliter lane slowly without checking and almost caused a cab to rear end her car 2) She continued driving slowing and when the cab tried to overtook on her right, she just cut into the cab's path even when her own lane was cleared, hogging the middle lane. 3) I overtook both of them on the right and after some distance, i was queuing behind a right turning lane at a x-junction. Then came that same lady driver, cut the queue and stop at the junction waiting to turn right when the lane is only for going straight. All the cars behind her horn non stop but she didnt care. please dun be a road hazard

met a sissy driver whom i supposed have a big ego. this happened today when i was driving along CTE in lane 1 towards city. i was picking up speed as infront was clear, then this sissy who was in lane 2 pretty far away cut into my lane without signalling causing me to ease my throttle(iam fines as its very common and used to it). but this driver didn't pick up speed any much faster than vehicles in lane 2 and after a few seconds,i was pretty close to him(i was stepping the gas pedal in a gentle manner) and there was a big gap in front of him. and again,i know road hoggers are very common so usually i don't horn or beam.instead i always have to find chance and overtake from lane 2. so my turn to turn to be nasty now.i tailgated him (well probably 1/4car length) not that close though. i tailgated him because he was probably 5km/hr faster than a taxi on lane 2 and i wanted to filter infront of the taxi so that i can overtake him. now,my chance has come(feels like donkey years) and i signal left to filter... what happend at this moment,as soon as i ON my signal, this bugger tap his brake light(even though he didn't jam brake).now this shows how big ego he owns. u know how annoying it is when one is trying to filter lane and the car infront suddenly brake? so when i drive pass this sissy, beside him was a lady driver who turned her head and looked at me(probably he told her how close i was behind them). but i ignored him and continue my journey. the woman passenger must have blown his ego big big. what a loser to drive like this.

if you're a relative or friend of the auntie driver, please kindly caution her against the frequent flashing of the high beam! Today along ECP towards airport, just after fort road, auntie drives up behind me on lane 2 and starts flashing. Lane 1 was empty and I thought it was my friend. After a few more flashes, I got fed up and tapped on my brakes. Panics, she cuts left into lane 3 right behind a lorry and starts flashing him!! All this while, I thought it was an impatient Beng. Didn't bother to slow down to look. But same driver drives up to parkway parade carpark and starts doing the same to every car, van and person taking a tad too slow too move! That's when I realised it was an old auntie behind the wheel. Please...if you're her friend or relative...do tell her to stop that else someone less friendly may decide to run her down....

OK, I have decide to try out the plugs and see all the "performance claims" myself. Bought a set of it and install into my car. Previously using Denso IK24. Initial impression is, well engine felt smoother which is pretty much in tune with what happens when you install a new set of plugs (My Denso plugs are around 1000KM old only). There is definitely a little more power at low RPM (between 1-2K RPM) compared to the Denso plugs. Its not surprising since there is no 5K ohms resistor to suck power. The difference gets more pronounced when I turned on the AC. There is less vibration at low RPM esp. when dragging the engine. Overall, there is some improvement but not much. I don't know if it worth the extra premium over the Iridium plugs. I will have to monitor the FC and see what happens. Right now I am hovering at a very steady 7.5KM/L. I pump once a week and my daily routes and even traffic lights timing are very fix. So, I can monitor my FC very accurately. One thing I didn't do is to measure the gap. My Denso are using 0.8mm gap. I will have to take out to measure it at some point of time. One side effect I did notice is my tachometer gets a little erractic. It may jump a little during idle. As expected, plugs w/o resistor will produce more noise and my tacho signal is wired directly to the -ve terminal on my ignition coil. I do have a variable resistor attached to it, will have to adjust to compensate for the noise. At least the plugs didn't seems to affect my Vipec ECU which could result in erratic A/F ratio or misfiring etc. Hopeully, it stays that way in the long run. I have yet to try high RPM to see if it runs well. Thats all for my initial review of the Nology plugs. If you also using the same plugs or some other plugs, just post your experience here
