  1. A car reserved and hit my front bumper's corner (near the headlight) slightly when his rear bumper hit my car perpenticularly. His bumper kena a big dent of volley ball size (half ball), mine was fortunate and only about one-quater size of last finger's nail and depressed only slightly about the diameter of a sawing pin WHen I stared at m dent, it is visible. If its your car, would you:- 1. Tell the other driver "Never mind, small matter. No need to pay for the damage" 2. Give him a good scolding and dont collect a cent. 3. Dont scold etc, but ask for compensation on the spot. 4. Insist he pays the repair bill. If it is (3), how much will you ask him to settle on the spot? I used gut feel and estimated if I repair (fix dent, spray paint) it may cost me between $ 50 to $200? So I told him "Thanks for apologising, $50 and we settle" (He apologised at least 4 times during the 8 mins 'discussion') I will keep the money and only repair after my car collects more dents. Btw, if its a SHE, will your answer be the same?
  2. Hi there, Assuming you have just bought a resale HDB flat and have sufficient CPF to clear off your loan at one go, would you do it at the prevailing market situation? What are the plus and minus in doing so? Please comment. Thank you very much. Regards,

  5. a fren of mine ask me this question. Can you also help me? this fren of mine drives a WISH. He purchased a brand new oil cooler & installed from a mod shop. all looks fine until a week after collection, his engine kapoot due to oil leaked & towed back to the same mod shop while travelling in PIE. Though the shop insisted that my fren shud have stopped if something has gone wrong to his car. I understood from my fren that it took him about 5min to get to the shoulder in PIE with crawling speed when he noticed the check light appeared. I told him to have the repair done up 1st with the shop before discussion on blame. now, the total parts repaired is $2200 (with proof of purchase) and $900 on all labor. I told my fren to discuss with the mod shop: - shud my fren settle 50-50%? - shud my fren pay up the parts repaired only? - shud my fren settle all by himself? above is not even accounted for the car's down time - 5 weeks! yr constructive advice and best view pls? thanks.
  6. Hi all, need some advice here: 1. Was travelling along Upper Hokkien Street. It has parallel parking lots on the left and right. Two Mercz each inconsiderably parked along both side of the street. Car A on hazard light and Car C not on hazard light. I am the car B. 2. I took the judgment to grazed my Civic through the centre and I on my left right signal light. When at in between the two, my side mirror somehow hit the right side mirror of car B and I gone a feeling that Car A was actually wanted to move on at the sametime too. 3. Upon impact, I stopped my car further up and walked back to the Mercz. The driver is actually a chauffeur and the boss just sat inside. The drive talked to me nicely that my side mirror hit his and has a hairline crack at the edge of the side mirror lamp. Then he followed me to look at my Civic and there was no bruise, no dent and no damage at all. By this time, Car C already drove off. 4. We both exchanged our particulars and I told him that I will file a report with my insurance company then moved on. I then went to the insurance company and reported the case. 5. Subsequently the chauffeur and his boss secretary called me one after another asking me to pay them a sum of about $170 for the damage over this weekend. I consulted the insurance company and they told me that if I don't think I'm entirely at fault, then should let both sides' insurance company settled among themselves. 6. Right now, I'm not sure whether I should just pay up or not since it is a small amount. I have a clean and max NCB so would a claim of $170 damage my record? On the other hand, I'm feel rather upset to see two mercz parking like that and obstructing traffic there and I ended up as a victim. Please advise me. Thank you very much. Regards,
  7. ST 30/3 MOTORISTS will soon not have to worry about that dreaded beeping sound which indicates low or insufficient funds in their CashCard. In fact, they will no longer even need a CashCard in their car to make ERP payments. By around mid-year, a new service will allow drivers to pay electronic road pricing (ERP) charges when they settle their monthly credit card bill. This development was part of the Land Transport Masterplan, which Transport Minister Raymond Lim launched yesterday. 'For motorists who wish to do away with the need to carry and top up stored-value cards, the ERP payment system will be further enhanced to allow alternative payment modes, such as credit card payment which will be implemented by mid-2008,' read the blueprint for commuter-friendly transport till 2020. The Land Transport Authority did not have any details on the plan. However, it is hoped the new system will reduce the 30,000 or so violations chalked up each month by motorists who pass gantries without enough funds. Banks interviewed said they are ready to jump in to provide this new credit card service. Maybank head of corporate communications Ms Priscilla Loke said the bank is keen to offer the service. United Overseas Bank's head of cards and payment products Ms Gan Ai Im said: 'Card members will find it very convenient for payment of their ERP charges to be made via their credit card.' Motorists also look forward to this. Many have been fined for running too low in CashCard funds, while some have even had near accidents fumbling to put a CashCard into the reader at the last minute. Dentist Andre Lam, 50, said it is an excellent move. 'I carry three CashCards with me now, just in case I forget one,' he said. School principal Charles Surin, 46, said it will be convenient. 'More important, it will reduce global warming, as less non-biodegradable plastics will be used to make CashCards,' he added. Others pointed out that not having to keep a CashCard in the car will deter smash-and-grab thefts in cars. The only hindrance to cardless motoring is in carparks. Industry sources said those which employ ERP payment technology may still require drivers to insert a CashCard.

  11. Recently went into Malaysia and was stop by TP at that side. He claim I got outstanding fine for speeding. Check the date is 2002 June by I only own the car from Sept 2002. Although I can use the log card as evidence, is there a way to permanently remove the record since I am not the one commited the offense. I dont have previous owner record. I did call up LTA and they said need to pay 5 dollar to draft a letter to show I am the owner. Sound stupid since log card already reflect me as owner. Any here manage to settle it can give some advice. Thanks
