I will start the ball rolling.... There is one at the Sheng Siong in Elias Mall. I asked for sweet and not too creamy durian and he said MSW is like dat. He said his MSW was $18 a kg. Luckily only bought a small one. It was fragrant but bitter and the yellow colour looked more like D24 XO. First and last time I will patronise the store.

A heady year with many new policies. Amongst the many new laws, the VES and the diesel tax will have the greatest impact on our local car buyers. Last year saw the top ten list filled with predictable best sellers from Honda, Toyota and Mercedes. Will that change? IMO, the best sellers this year will be quite similar, as dealer will still have existing stock of the top sellers, and even though the surcharge goes up, it only occurs next year in Jan 2018. So we should see a small rush for them, and perhaps even a rush for the diesel based best sellers like the BMW 116d and 216d. As a reference, I have included the best sellers for 2016: Top ten for 2015: http://business.asiaone.com/news/toyota-surges-no-1-brand-singapore Top ten for 2014: http://www.carbuyer.com.sg/features/399-can-you-guess-singapore-s-best-selling-car http://focus2move.com/mercedes-e-class-best-selling-car-singapore/ http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/article.php?AID=10795 Top ten for 2013: http://www.lifestyleasia.com/380529/top-selling-car-in-singapore-2013/

I see threads for 2016 and 2017. Should we also have one for 2018? To mark the first year of the new gas emission scheme is rolled out. At the end of 2018 let's see how right is everybody's guessing. Might end up with some unheard of models in list :)

2016 is ending, and its been an interesting ride. The usual suspects have been doing well: Toyota (Corolla); Honda HRV / Vezels (especially if you include PI cars) Mazda 3 Hyundai Elantra Mercedes C or E Class? Nissan QQ? The Uber / Grab phenomenon has changed the ratios, and Toyota (Axio), Mazda (3), Honda (Vezel), a bit of Kia (K3) and some others have benefitted. So who will make it to the top ten of 2016? The COE prices have been on a down trend, coming from highs in 2013-2014. The COE quotas were on an increase, but the government is putting the squeeze, and the quota is dropping again. With this, the COEs may rise, each time the COEs go up, the marquee brands do better. See 2013 / 2014, when Merc had 3-4 cars in the top ten, and brands like BMW, Audi also featured. http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/mercedes-benz-beating-bmw-as-best-selling-brand-in-singapore?login=true The contenders for 2016: http://bestsellingcarsblog.com/category/singapore/ Top ten for 2015: http://business.asiaone.com/news/toyota-surges-no-1-brand-singapore Top ten for 2014: http://www.carbuyer.com.sg/features/399-can-you-guess-singapore-s-best-selling-car http://focus2move.com/mercedes-e-class-best-selling-car-singapore/ http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/article.php?AID=10795 Top ten for 2013: http://www.lifestyleasia.com/380529/top-selling-car-in-singapore-2013/

Or vice-versa. Been seening plenty of "direct owner" ads on sgcarmart wif such descriptions: "Confirm Loan Approval For Bad Credit/Ex Bankruptcy" "Can Arrange For Balloon Screen, Monthly Installment From $398" "Bank Interest Rate At 1.88%, Full In House Loan Available" Hmmm.....wonder if some of those scumbag dealers are selling as "direct owner" to avoid the Lemon Law?

I will also start the ball rolling.... There is a fruit stall at Hougang Central, at the corner of the roundabout into the MSCP, near the Fragrance bak kwa shop. They sell a variety of durians from top end to 3 for $10, or one for $5. I asked for two one for $5. I tri my luck and say if got sweet and creamy the best. The man specially picked two which were exactly sweet and creamy. Best still, ask me try one seed first. I tried and it was great, then he passed me a box of tissue for my durian stained hand. So really professional and good service standard too.

Hi all there is a new scam targeting sg carmart direct sellers. some one from overseas will get in touch with the seller through e -mail and act as he interested to buy your car as per your advertisement . He will make the payment through pay pal to your account but with one condition the seller must pay some money upfront to some one then only pay pal will credit the amount to the designated account. Pls find below the reply from PAYPAL office so pls do not fall for this kinda of scams . Hello Thanks for contacting PayPal. My name is Tracy and I am glad to assist you with your question regarding your PayPal account. From your email, I understand you received an email told you that your buyer has already paid for you 4,200MYR and you are required to send money $2000.00 firstly to the recipient's address via Western Union Money Transfer so that you can receive the payment in PayPal After checking, I am here to confirm that the email you received is not from PayPal. Firstly, your email address has already been confirmed, so that you can receive money successfully. However, there is no any transaction record. Secondly, PayPal will guarantee that you receive the money in your PayPal account firstly, and then you can ship the goods to your buyer. Thirdly, if you buyer paid for you ,you would receive the funds in your PayPal account immediatly. And When you log in your account to check your history, there should be a transaction record, only if the transaction status is completed, that is to say you have received the funds. Even though the transaction has been held in PayPal, there will be a related transaction record. And we never ask our user to pay for Western Union before the payment released by PayPal. In your case, we suggest you do not click any link in this email or provide any information about your credit card or PayPal account. We advise you to forward this email to . If any additional information is needed, our investigations team will contact you via email. You may protect your PayPal account by paying close attention to the emails you receive and the websites you visit. It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing PayPal. If you need any assistance, please feel free to contact us. You can also call us at: (65)-6510-4650. Best regards! Sincerely,

A summary of my positive encounter with a steady buyer: Posted an ad to sell my used tyres. Received an enquiry last night and the seller on the deal with a reasonable closing price. Deal went on as planned and it was concluded. Buyer requested for a small discount which is very acceptable to me, in short, not LOW-BALLER. Friendly young buyer and highly recommended. Nick is tommimakinen. contact ends with 1412 Cheers.

Are there any durian sellers in the West area, example Clementi, Holland V, Bukit Panjang, West Coast etc I know there is one at the end of Pasir Panjang Road, next to the 'famous' nasi lemak stall, outside NUS. But i wan to try other West places...... I no need to eat the expensive Cat mountain. Just normal durians can already .... no $$.......

Dear all, I just had a very unpleasant experience with someone who contact me on MCF. I do not believe he's a MCFer per se as he doesn't have any posts. His nick is Gigi and his number is 96XX7752. I urge other MCFers who are going to deal with him to have second thoughts. My side of the story goes like this: I place an ad on MCF classifieds which reads: "WTS: Broquet BoostMaster 20 - CHEAP!" http://www.mycarforum.com/classifieds/classifieds.pl?id=8994 In the description, I repeat that it's a "BoostMaster 20". I also state the preferred dealing location/time. So this fellow dropped me a PM with his offer and number. I contacted him via SMS to say I'm agreeable to his offer. I asked if he wanted the fuel hoses, which I had to pay extra for. He replied yes. Then he went on to demand that I deal to his preferred location, either at his home (Tampines) or his other place (Bt Panjang). He kept insisting that we should meet at these two locations. I tried to strike a compromise and say to meet somewhere in between but he kept saying "don't know where" or have to suit his convenience. Finally, I told him that I was making a loss and he shouldn't take advantage of me. So we agreed to meet at Kallang McDonald's this evening. When I met him, he took my item and said "This is BM what?" Me: 20. He: Not 30? Me: No, it was advertised at 20. It's very clear. He: Then how? Me: You agreed to buy it from me. He: Cannot lah. The Broquet website said lowest version they have is 30. I thought you typed wrongly! Me: Then how? You ask me to come all the way and made me buy the hoses? He: So? You made me come here after work. WTF?? Firstly, I stated clearly on my ad that it's a BM20. Secondly, we exchanged more than 20 SMS, not once did he ask/confirm the model Thirdly, I compromised on the meeting point and he puts the blame on me. This is utter irresponsibility and being unreasonable. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else here.
