  1. I guess I am not the only frustrated owner to be waiting for LTA to approve VICOM and then VITAS. LTA says takes about a month to 2 before a Cat B car can be released... urm yes, a Cat B car and NOT a Cat A car so no issue of turbo or not... The purpose of this thread is to seek clarity on the process and procedures before the car can be released to the owner. There is no transparency from the authorities. Don't understand why one car has to go through 2 inspections and of different sorts to waste everyone's time. Couldn't this be done all at one queue and one visit? How many weeks to get an appointment to clear VICOM? 1 - 2 months. How many weeks to get another appointment to clear VITAS? 1 - 2 weeks. VICOM is causing the queue... true? VITAS can just queue on the spot and get cleared within a day while LTA takes an other week or 2 to issue the certificate... true? What do the check at VICOM or VITAS? The above all based on hear say... like i said, always hearing different things from people. Would appreciate feedback from folks who understand the system and clear serious doubts...
  2. Dear all, how do one persuade someone close to you to seek medical help for signs of depression? I've noticed some changes in this person's behaviour and think its good to seek help early but don't wish to hurt or agitate that person by telling him/her to seek psychiatric help. Some of the things mentioned by this person includes; 1) Talking about suicides 2) Referring to suicide articles and saying he/she will do the same 3) Out of the blue saying things like: "Don't push me or I will jump and let you see" 4) Become very emo all of the sudden 5) Look very lost and helpless when alone 6) Starting to depend on everyone for his/her needs as if we should spoonfeed him/her. With those said, its very surprising as this person do not mention all these things at all previously but seems to talk about it every now and then, even when no one agitates him/her. An example is when we went out for dinner. Halfway through the dinner, he/she will say something like: "You all better don't push me to my limits or I will jump". Its really out of the blue when everyone is just eating and not saying anything that will trigger this kind of reaction. Hope to get some advice from all of you on how to persuade or bring this person to seek medical help.
  3. Hi, my brother's car was hit by a taxi last Friday night, 12 June 2015, at about 11.15pm, 34 South Bouna Vista Road. Taxi stopped at the road side. My bro filter right to pass him then he suddenly turn right to the shophouses without checking and my bro hit onto him after jamming break. Now, the taxi driver wants to claim insurance and put all the blame on my bro. So, I'm seeking for any witnesses who were there to come forward with video evidence. Appreciate your help. Thank you!

For a about 2 weeks i have spotted a TP WRX + bike parked (with lights on) behind portable road barriers (those white/orange ones we see during roadwork) near the top of the CTE flyover (toward city) over Jalan Toa Payoh.... morning peak and even peak hours, Maybe after all its not hide & seek, coz their roof blinker lights were turned on, everyone can see them 600m away. 10. Hi all, I would like to seek opinions on this 2 choices of colours for SSW Spider for my white Cs3. [Left: Gloss black with chrome outline, Right: Full hyper silver] My reason for choosing SSW is because it's affordable, acceptable quality with warranty, established brand, and I can choose to purchase individual rim in future if necessary. Anyone with opinions on which colour to choose? Also, ideas on other established brands with affordable pricing are welcomed. Thanks in advance!

  13. Hi guys, I plan to get a car after the COE drop (hopefully it will), was deciding whether to get a new or used car. I was thinking instead of getting a new, for example avante for 60k...will it be the same if I get a 3 years old civic for the same price? Am I right to say that the only difference will be I will lose out the 3 years old worth of the pro rated COE? Currently I set my budget to be ard 60k. And most likely I'll get an Off peak car. And my criteria is look and interior comfortability. To me, I think oddeysey has an awesome interior, and rx8 has a killer look. Is there any recommendation of car? Also is there any good reputation used car dealer in sg? As I am not really smart in car knowledge :( does FC matter much if I only drive on weekend? Thanks in advance ;)
  14. Im planning to buy a used car in this Oct. My budget for the car installment per month is about $500+, any used car suggest? i dont mind about high FC.

  19. They want High Court to order ICA to issue work and study passes By K. C. Vijayan, Law Correspondent TWO China nationals want the High Court to order the immigration authorities to issue them with passes to work and study here. The moves by the two women, MsZhang Yan, 27, and Ms Xue Jin Zhou, 22, are believed to be the first time foreigners wanting to get such passes to stay in Singapore have gone to the High Court seeking a judicial review. The two women are essentially asking the courts to see if the decision-making process by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) to refuse to support their applications was flawed. The crux of their cases is whether adverse records, if any, which could have influenced the ICA's decisions against them, were valid reasons. Shanghai-based Ms Zhang came here on a student pass last May to do business studies at a private school, but was arrested by the police about three months later at a KTV lounge. She was suspected of working illegally as a lounge hostess but after the police investigation ended, no further action was taken against her. Instead, her student pass was cancelled by the ICA. She claims it was a case of mistaken identity and said she was at the lounge with a friend. She is now fighting to remain here and for her student pass to be be reinstated. Separately, Ms Xue, who is from Heilongjiang province in northern China, secured a job here as a sales executive with a construction firm on a two-year contract. Last November, she obtained in-principle approval to take up the job here but the work pass was not issued apparently following ICA checks. It is understood that she had previously studied English here at a private school on a student pass, but on one of her return trips from China, she had entered Singapore on an expired social visit pass. But she was granted an extension to stay and Ms Xue believes there is nothing adverse against her to date to block her work permit application. Both women are represented by lawyer Leonard Loo. A closed-door session was held last week in the High Court before Justice Judith Prakash, who adjourned the case to next month for further arguments to be heard. Both Ms Zhang and Ms Xue are seeking to have anything adverse in their records removed and their pass status restored, according to court papers filed. Lawyer Amolat Singh noted that it is more common for those in such disputes to appeal to the authorities directly, and the matter rests there whatever the outcome. He recalled two cases where he appealed to the ICA on behalf of two China nationals who stood to have their passes revoked for breaching the conditions. One was unsuccessful and her student pass was revoked when she was found to be working as a lounge hostess. But the other, whose child studied here, was allowed to remain after her explanations were verified, Mr Singh said. She had been arrested in a raid at a hotel but it was later determined that she was there with a local man whom she was in a long-standing relationship with. Mr Singh said the courts do not have powers to intervene with the administrative decision itself but the courts can review the procedure to see if the applicant has been given a fair hearing. CASE 1 Who: Ms Zhang Yan, 27 Past record: Had a student pass to study at a private school here but was arrested some months later by the police at a KTV lounge. She was suspected of working illegally as a lounge hostess. What she claims: That it was a case of mistaken identity and that she was at the lounge with a friend. The police did not take further action against her although her student pass was revoked. # CASE 2 Who: Ms Xue Jin Zhou, 22 Past record: Had obtained in-principle approval to take up a job here as a sales executive with a construction firm. But the work pass was apparently not issued after ICA checks. She had been a private student here before, but on one of her return trips here from China, she had entered Singapore on an expired social visit pass. What she claims: That there is nothing adverse against her to block her application to get a pass to work here.
