COE prices have made a lot of people unhappy. We all want a car and think that COE does not work and controlling usage works better than ownership. I think we can have a simple poll to see how many people will buy multiple cars and whether they see problem finding parking for their cars. Remember that the OMV of a Jap car is only around $20k.

I love my current car but at the same time I wanted a new car. Is there any way that I can transfer my car to a Malaysia registered car?

SINGAPORE: The Singapore Sports Council (SSC) confirmed Wednesday it will not proceed with the re-tender for the Changi Motorsports Hub site, effectively putting an end to the ambitious race-track project. This follows the conclusion of an extensive international and local market sounding and Request for Information (RFI) exercise. The council said it was unable to proceed with the re-tender as it could not accede to certain conditions from potential investors. These include requests for flexibility of lease terms and land use, as well as tax concessions. SSC CEO Lim Teck Yin said the land take and proposed use under the project "do not justify an operating model that involves significant government subsidies or concessions". The council had received seven proposals from six consortia, the majority of which were motor-sports related. Proposed motorsports ideas included a FIA grade 2 or 3 circuit, a CIK graded karting circuit, a racing academy, a dragstrip, and bonded warehousing. Non motorsports-related ideas included a theme park and watersports marina. Common ideas cutting across the majority of the proposals include retail and F&B. The 41-hectare site in Changi will be reinstated to authorities. Mr Lim said: "While we work towards handing the site back to the authorities, SSC is also actively working with the relevant agencies on possible interim uses for the site for motorsports-related activities, such as karting, for the community." The race track project has stalled since 2011 when the Japanese-led consortium that won the bid ran out of money. - CNA/jc http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singap...4.html?cid=FBSG

I've noticed that many HDB such as Potong Pasir (yet to have EPS gantry) and other HDB carparks which have EPS gantry implemented doing away with night parking for visitor. First noticed when i wanted park overnight at my friend's place at potong pasir for MJ......end up have to drive quite far away out of Potong Pasir HDB estates area to have night parking.....Zzzzz. Now my place at bukit batok just got implemented with EPS Parking gantry. Previous night parking for $4 still available but ever since the new EPS gantry......they removed night parking making it only for season parking. Punggol also another issue where no free parking on sunday & public holiday whole punggol.

Pui... I beh kan today scrapped the wall while turning at carpark. Kana my rear right (above rear wheel). Streaks of paint seen Any idea how to remove the paint? Because its quite a bad one (I even heard the sound), the pain is like stuck to the body. I use cloth and water to rub hard but cannot. I tried using a plastic card to scrape off the paint but alot still there. Is there anyway to remove the paint manually? I don't intend to send to workshop cause no damage to the body (my sillycar metal is super thick one!), just some minor pain scratch nia. I don't want to try sand paper or paint scrapper cause I think that will remove my body's paint instead.

For London Mon, Dec 01, 2008 Reuters London's 'ERP' extension to go LONDON: The western extension to London's congestion charge zone, similar to Singapore's ERP, is to be scrapped after two-thirds of Londoners and businesses said they wanted it removed, Mayor Boris Johnson has said. A consultation on the future of the extension, brought in by former mayor Ken Livingstone in February last year, found that 67 per cent of individuals and 86 per cent of businesses favoured scrapping the scheme. With a few exceptions, such as taxi drivers and motorcyclists, all motorists have to pay a weekday charge of

Paint along the wheel arch got scrapped off against carpark pillar due to tight and dark condition last evening. Need a reasonable and quality workshop where they have the color code for Cool Amber ("Khaki brown") for the current Stream model. Would want to drive to do repairs by this evening as i fly off on Sunday. Thanks a lot!

As reported in today ST and The New paper that studies had shown there is a sharp drop in the nember of cars taken off the roads. The figures have been falling steadily the whole of this year to reach the lowest monthly number in five years. Less ppl are scrapping their vehicles for new ones and extent or holding back their current vehicles. So, will COE going to drop further if ppl keeping to their current vehicles ? My prediction is yes, it going to drop further as several years ago when the 10 years loan approved and waving of the 30% cash downpayment, many rush to get cheap monthly payment cars and now, they are stuck with the repayment and the huge interest occured. (Attach a cutting of today's New Paper)

Market expects across-the-board reduction in COE numbers CAR buyers can expect higher certificate of entitlement (COE) premiums ahead, as far fewer cars are being scrapped this year. This is likely to mean fewer COEs in the highly anticipated October 2007-March 2008 mid-quota year review - and higher premiums. Prospective buyers will know the answer this month when the review is released. In fact, the market expects an across-the-board cut in COE numbers - the first time since mid-quota year reviews were introduced in 2001. COE supply hinges largely on a replacement principle. Land Transport Authority (LTA) figures show that the number of all vehicles taken off the road in the first seven months fell by 20 per cent to 52,195, compared to the same period last year. Since 2001, the LTA has in place a system to tweak COE supply in the middle of a quota year, to better match replacement demand. As it turned out, it has always released more COEs in the middle of each quota year, since actual scrappage has always far exceeded its estimates at the start of each quota year in April. For the past six years, the release of make-up COEs for October-March has led to a drop in premiums in the six-month period. But not this time. The number of cars scrapped in the first seven months just about matches what the LTA had forecast. The chief executive of multi-brand agent Jardine Cycle & Carriage's motor operations, Mr Cheah Kim Teck, said: 'Definitely, there will be no extras this time.' Going forward, he said COE supply in the next financial year starting April 2008 could fall by '15-16 per cent'. But he does not expect any drastic cut. The managing director of Toyota distributor Borneo Motors, Mr Mark Choong, agreed. 'I don't think there will be extra COEs coming onstream but I don't expect any significant reduction,' he said. Mr Choong said there might not even be much of a cut in the commercial vehicles quota, despite a sharp drop in the number of vans, trucks and buses taken off the road in the first seven months. 'Commercial vehicles are an economic necessity,' Mr Choong said, adding that higher concrete prices and higher cost of 'clean-diesel' commercial vehicles - mandatory from October 2006 - had already raised overall business cost. Mr Choong expects COE prices to climb from the current $16,000-$18,000 levels - 'but not just yet to $30,000-$40,000'. Motor traders expect the expanded presence of parallel importers and the arrival of used cars from abroad, following a relaxation of rules, to keep up bids for COEs. So, higher car prices seem almost certain. But even if premiums rise by $10,000, a Japanese sedan could still be had for below $70,000, compared to the more than $100,000 mid-1990s days. For sellers, the foreseeable drop in volume in the coming years could result in lower profits and downsizing. 'This is a feast-or-famine business,' said Cycle & Carriage's Mr Cheah.
