Hello folks, need some advice. Started this as i searched through the forum but found only old threads on this, and also some concerns not addressed in those threads. I need to help my mother scrap her 15yo car. Is there anything that she needs to do to "authorize" me to do it on her behalf? Did a bit of reading but found lots of glossing over the different possible methods to do so. includes, driving to the scrapper, approaching a dealer, using services from AAS/Motorist/Carro/etc, but it does not really contain any details of the process to do so. If anyone has used their services, please enlighten me about the process to do so. Also, which would be the least hassle, keeping in mind i need to do this for a car not registered under my IC. Last concern is how much would scrap value be, even though i know it would be far lower than scrapping a 10 yo car, any pointers to get best value would be deeply appreciated. Thanks all.

This won't replace your Secret Lab chair, but we reckon its nearly as good
chitchatboy posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Need a new chair for your home office but don't want a Secret Lab chair like most people do? Check out this very familiar-looking chair that you can now buy at a starting price of $100. Thanks to a local company that specialises in scrapping vehicles, you can now own a part of our public buses that have been prowling our roads for the last 10 or more years. The company, Kim Li Huat, posted this simple and sleek Volvo B9TL CDGE chair that has been blessed with a new base on their company's facebook page, saying that if you wish to buy in bulk, the price even can be lowered. For those who wonder where these seats came from, a quick search on the web showed that these Volvo buses have been plying on our roads for about 15 years (out of their 17-year statutory lifespan) and had their interior refreshed less than 3 years ago before they were taken out of service. Credits to landtransportguru for the info and photos.- 4 comments

Any idea how these Scrap Yard companies get the cars for scrap besides accident badly damage cars? https://www.facebook.com/228681240510165/posts/2217406654970937/ In the link, The 6Series seems not badly damage and quite new. But yet go for scrap? Any conspiracy? I wonder...

Hello all, My current ride is a Mitsubishi attrage which is bought in Aug 2015 when cat A COE is $57,500 It is paid in full. So far, the car works well for A to B travel. Will it be a good time now to scrap the car to take advantage of the current lower COE? Currently looking at the Nissan Note or looking at another attrage again. Any suggestions? Thank you, Sthh

Hi all, I am thinking to buy a new car, as for my current car, I am not sure whether to trade in or sell by my own, the easiet way will be trade in to the car agent, but this agent beign a middle man/lady, will earn few $K from me (eg., 2nd dealer quote him $30K, they will come back and tell me only $28K, and they pocket $2K). Selling by my own, then I do not know any good and reputated 2nd car dealer. Any suggestion from you? Thank you.

I'm thinking how to maximise my car lifespan One thing I can think of is export the car to Msia to my in-laws place. So can it be done? We scrap car. Arrange paperwork to export car. Import into Msia. Register car in Msia. Drive in Msia for many more years... Note that I want to do this the legal way. Not drive in and report lost type I believed it can be done, just a matter of cost. Worth it? Anyone with experience or know of anyone who did this?
