Hot on the heels of new Verna (Accent), here is the brand new Kia Rio to be officially unveiled at Paris Motor Show next month. Think it looks more grown up than current Rio hatchback (which was on sale for a short period of time locally). Curious to see how the 4-door saloon model will turn out to look like. I started the thread on 7-seater MPV. After some due considerations, I may go for a normal 5-seater saloon car since my 'kids' are now all adults and may not need to take my car anymore. At today's COE, the cheapest of the lots are around the high $80 to $100K. What would you consider as the best value buy and why? This is to get opinions and there is no right or wrong. At least when COE drops to $20K, those in this segment can 'rush' in and get the ideal car, hopefully.

Bugatti will start production of the 16 C Galibier Concept hyper sedan in 2013, so says a report from Autocar. The report quotes an unnamed source who claims that because of the recession, Bugatti, being the smallest but most exclusive in the VW Group, had not taken priority at high-level discussions. But that is about to change, thanks to a positive reaction to the 16 C Galibier during select motor shows and customer events. Its finally here. The car that Audi claims is three cars in one has been launched here in Singapore. We have already been accustomed to the coupe version of the A5 which is by far, one of the most stunning cars Audi has ever come up with in my opinion, and now there's the 4 door saloon version for people who want to buy this car with more of their heads than their hearts. Its called the Sportback simply because it looks sportier and more aggressive than the A4 which it is based on. Sportier it is as its ground clearance is 36mm lower and two engines will be available; the mighty 3.2-litre FSI V6 which is home to 265 horses and a 2.0 litre one which I think will be rather pointless as the car weighs roughly 1.6 tonnes, with a 2.0 litre under the bonnet and 211bhp, I think you're better off with the 3.2 litre if money isn't and issue. The biggest difference between the 2 variants is that the 3.2 litre comes with a Sport differential which distributes the torque from the engine to the rear wheels. However, the stuff that comes as standard across both variants include Audi's drive select, dynamic steering and 3 zone air conditioning. Getting the 3.2 litre top of the range model will also allow you to enjoy the S-line body kit, a pimped out sound system from Bang & Olufsen and adaptive headlights. The price of the 3.2-litre variant is just over 200k at $201,800 while the 2.0-litre version can be yours at $174,500. Both set at rather competitive prices as compared to the Mercedes E class Coupe and the BMW 3 Series coupe and convertible. So what would it be? Choosing the Sportback is the practical choice while the Coupe is for the youthful soul that resonates from within, nevertheless, this is a great car to own.

dad got a cheap coe.... now dunno what to do with it... looking for a cheap jap saloon car. seems like only lancer(prev version), and impreza are less than 50k. any other suggestions?

The Child Seats these days are kinda huge, so when you fit 2 of these at your back seat, you usually have not much space left in the center & this also makes entry for back passenger difficult. Is a MPV the only solution? What other choices are there available?

Here's a short article: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We've seen it lapping the Nurburgring in various levels of disguise over the summer months, but BMWhas finally released official pictures and specifications for its M3 saloon. Predictably, the formula is nearly identical to the coupe - same 4.0 litre, 420bhp V8; same wheels; same quad exhaust pipes; same bodywork accession - new front and rear bumpers, 'M' gills and powerdome. Of course, the saloon has two extra doors and does without the trick carbon roof of the coupe, adding 30kgs over the two-door version. BMW says this adds 0.1 seconds to the 0-62mph time, but you're unlikely to notice a difference. Initially, as with the two-door, the M3 saloon will only be offered with a six-speed manual, although a flappy-paddle version is expected in the near future. anyone can share their experience or advise on the subject above? currently considering taking over my friend's DC5R at scrap value only concern is that mileage is quite high above 100,000km and it is almost 5yr old... so far everyone i spoke to, strongly adv against it as it would mean topping up $ for a similar age car... wear and tear normally sets in from the 5yr. *confuse*

1.6l saloon used to be the std with the 1.3l or 1.5l being the smaller capacity. But now, 1.8l saloon is becoming more common (eg. Civic 1.8, Altis 1.8...) Possible reasons: - cheaper COE - change in COE Cat (no more 1l) - S'porean getting richer now

This morning on my way to work towards tampines along PIE, after bukit timah, I can see from my rear mirror a white 3 digit Aveo was cutting in and out of traffic at high speed. Car dont look Heong, but driver super Fierce man! Overtook me on my left and squeeze in between me and a cab. It Must be a RACE man! But to my dismay, he is racing with himself! Traffic got heavier and Aveo got stuck behind a Cefiro. Aveo's left tyres was touching the road divider markings on his left, waiting for a chance to overtake the Cefiro on from his left! Aveo is reali sticking his nose into Cefiro's bumper man! All the way till before the ERP gantry before steven road exit, it is just a accident in the making since the beginning! Cefiro have to stop as the car infront of him jammed his brakes, Aveo just WACK into the rear of Cefiro! Can see bits of plastics flying man! I am glad both drivers are fine but someone could have been hurt man if you are reading this, Aveo, dont drive like that lah, should leave our skills with us till there is a legal race track for us to show our skills..... anyway glad no one was hurt...

As you guys know Nissan Sunny Ex Saloon no headrests..i find it dangerous as it could cost serious neck injury like whiplash in events of accident.. .headrest also make ride more comfy 4 rear passengers. I managed to get 2 headrests installed at AMK autopoint 4 $120,breakdown as follows $50 for welding headrest stand into the rear cushion frame, $50 for 2 headrests(2nd hand toyota Corona 2.0), $20 for labour. price ok? The head rests is adjustable,I asked the shop owner if there is anymore headrests but sadly he says no more... Wanted to install armrest for driver seat but cant install coz it'll block the console box. Here's the pics. I have two options: Nissan 1.6 EX Saloon(M) $50800 10% downpayment = $5080 Balance = $45720 For 6 year loan @ 3.25% p.a. : Interest = $9266.4 Total = $54986.4 Monthly = $763.7 Road tax monthly = $79.2 Insurance = $ 2400 (estimated) = $200 per month Petrol = $300 per month Carpark = $90 TOTAL MONTHLY EXPENSES = $1432.9 Honda Civic 1.8(A) VTi $75000 10% downpayment = $ 7500 Balance = $ 67500 For 10 year loan @3.5% p.a. : Interest = $23625 Total = $91125 Monthly = $760 Road tax monthly = $103.5 Insurance = $2700 (quoted 0% NCD)= $225 per month Petrol = $300 per month Carpark = $90 TOTAL MONTHLY EXPENSES = $1478.5 It works out that the monthly expenses of a humble car and upmarket car works out to be almost the same. Should not I go for the Civic instead? COE for both category almost same. I pay almost the same every month so might as well enjoy a better car right? Civic is a good car and surely can keep for 10 years. If I get the sunny, I break even faster and will definitely upgrade another car because I do not believe I will hold it for 10 years and I guess I will spend more upgrading later compared to holding on civic for 10 years. Civic is 1.8L so I guess it is more than sufficient to meet my needs many years down the road. It is big and spacious enough for me. Please give me your opinions and share your thoughts with me please.
