  1. Three teenagers, aged between 16 and 17, were arrested on Sunday for their suspected involvement in a case of robbery from a taxi at Japanese Gardens Road. The police said in a statement that early on Sunday morning, the taxi driver, who was the victim, made a report that he had been assaulted and robbed of $5 cash. The identities and whereabouts of the suspects were established with the description provided by the victim. Officers from Clementi Police Division then managed to establish the whereabouts of the suspects and arrested all three within eight hours of the time the report was lodged. Commander of Clementi Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Melvin Yong advises victims of such crime to be calm and composed when confronted and to take note of the culprits' descriptions.   2. Two teens were charged on Wednesday in a robbery-with-hurt case involving an elderly woman earlier this week. On Monday, Mohammad Shaffy Hassan, 17, and his 15-year-old accomplice were alleged to have robbed retiree Poh Choo Peng, 69, of her handbag containing cash and items worth S$228. The duo allegedly kicked and punched the elderly lady in her face and body during the hold-up at about 7.30pm near Block 31, Bedok South Avenue 2. Shaffy was remanded at Bedok Police Division for a week with court-granted permission to the police to assist with their investigation. His request for bail was rejected by District Judge Lim Tse Haw. The 15-year-old boy was charged in Juvenile Court and remanded at Singapore Boys

  4. Thu, May 20, 2010 The Star/Asia News Network KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: Harian Metro reported of a Pakistani gigolo who "exhausted" his victim with sex before robbing her. According to a police source, the victim, who works in a karaoke centre in Kuala Lumpur, met a 30-something man named Sheikh. "The woman fell for his charms and asked him to follow her home. Before they had sex, he persuaded her to remove the necklace she was wearing. She placed the piece of jewellery in a drawer." The newspaper quoted the police source as saying that the woman was given "special treatment" by the suspect that was meant to wear her out. After the vigorous sex session, the suspect persuaded her to get some sleep, but the woman, a light sleeper, saw him opening the drawer to take her necklace and handphone.
