  1. Camcar footage was caught of a Mercedes Benz flouting multiple traffic regulations, first crossing over chevron lines to attempt to overtake the camcar, followed by refusing to give way at the pedestrian crossing. Watch the video for yourself below Drive Of Mercedes #ST15C driving dangerously..mp4 At the start of the video, you can clearly see the Mercedes EQA250 Driver blatantly cross the chevron markings in an attempt to overtake the cam car. This makes the Mercedes driver liable to a penalty of a $150 fine as well as 3 demerit points. Not only that, but the Mercedes driver was also caught refusing to give way to pedestrians at a pedestrian crossing. For that, the Mercedes driver could have been liable to a a $150 fine as well as 6 demerit points. It can be seen on the video footage that two pedestrians were waiting to cross at the traffic light According to Singapore Statutes Online based on the Road Traffic Act, precedence is supposed to be given for pedestrians, cyclists, mobility vehicle users as well as PMD riders. Any “driver of a vehicle who is in the process of turning his vehicle at a road intersection or junction where there is a pedestrian crossing shall stop his vehicle in order to give way to any pedestrian, cyclist, mobility vehicle user or PMD rider who is either crossing or is starting to cross the intersection or junction. “ TLDR; this basically means that drivers must give way to pedestrians lah! Though the camcar posted the footage hoping to criticize the Benz driver, the camcar seemed to also have been flouting traffic regulations by crossing the double white lines as well, exposing his violations in the process. For crossing over the double white lines, the camcar could have also been liable to 4 demerit points and a $150 fine. The Mercedes Benz also seemed to have engaged in brake checking, which while is not a traffic offense in Singapore, is considered reckless driving and extremely inconsiderate behavior. The Mercedes Benz driver was seen coming out of his vehicle at the end of the video, perhaps hoping to settle his score with the camcar. Netizen Comments Netizens seem to be unanimous in criticizing both the camcar and the Mercedes Benz, sensing that something suspicious is afloat since the footage was cut. Personally, I believe that both of them should be held liable, let this be a lesson learnt to value safety on roads. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community.
