VEP delayed till 2020 or maybe when your grandchildren have children

If you've been one of the "kan cheong" people waiting to get your Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) approved before driving into Malaysia, here's some good news for you - The implementation of the VEP scheme will only commence next year. According to The Straits Times, Malaysian Transport Minister Anthony Loke claimed that the delay is due to the system's inability to cope with the exponential number of vehicles that needed to install the RFID tag. It seems that many Singaporeans are not surprised by this delay. It’s not the first time that there has been a delay with the implementation of the VEP and you can be sure people were quick to call that out. And some people make pretty sound arguments. Wait, does this mean that Singaporean car owners with the RFID tags did the application and probably wasted a weekend queueing up in Malaysia for nothing? Sounds about right. Malaysia Boleh? Case closed. ----------------------------------------------- Still wondering how to get your VEP? We went through the entire process so you can have this handy guide here! ----------------------------------------------- -
I have the RFID tag for HDB season parking. Is a need to show the tag or simply have the tag in the car? For example, could I leave the RFID tag in the glove compartment as the parking warden uses a scanner to identify if a car have a valid RFID.

just got me thinking u don't really need speed cameras anymore. heck, u don't even need to capture speed. just two transmitters spread a distance apart on a stretch, and your RFID will spill the beans.

I have a question in my mind that I need to ask before I use RFID tags... We all have the ordinary season parking green tag before RFID, recently, I receive the RFID tag and was asked to replace the existing one green tag. Although its free, does it make it easier for the carpark "summoners" to know which car did not pay for season parking with RFID technology and just zoom in on the "unauthorised" cars without season parking and check for coupons and issue summons? If it is, I rather keep the existing one and make life harder for the "summoners" so that they need to walk up to my vehicle and check for season visually. I am not someone who likes to make life difficult for others but for summoners?! why not?
