  2. Indonesian teenager to have excess skin removed after obesity treatment https://www.asiaone.com/asia/indonesian-teenager-have-excess-skin-removed-after-obesity-treatment Thirteen-year-old Arya Permana from Karawang, West Java, after years of treatment for obesity, has been declared ready for plastic surgery to reduce his sagging skin as a result of massive weight loss. The surgery for Arya, who was once one of the heaviest children in the world, is scheduled to take place in the next two weeks at the Hasan Sadikin General Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung. "We plan to conduct the surgery in five stages," the hospital's nutrition and metabolic specialist and pediatrician Tisnasari Hafsah, a member of the team of doctors in charge of the boy's treatment, said on Wednesday. Arya weighed 189.6 kilograms at 147 centimeters in height when he was first admitted to the hospital at the age of 10 for a weight-loss programme. He underwent bariatric surgery at Omni Hospital in Jakarta in June 2017. He is now 87 kg, leaving parts of his skin sagging, especially on his belly, arms and thighs. "I am happy. The doctors say parts of my skin will be removed. The surgery will last four to five hours," Arya said while undergoing a health check at the hospital on Wednesday. Thanks to the weight-loss programme, Arya can currently join physical activities with his friends. Previously, he could only lie face down while playing games. RSHS president director Ayi Djembarsari said the obesity of Arya, who hails from Pasir Piring village in Cipurwasari subdistrict, Tegalwaru district, was an interesting case in the medical world. "We are trying to reduce his weight in a short time and, of course, it has to be closely monitored," Ayi said. The hospital's medical and nursing director, Nucki Nursjamsi Hidajat, said Arya was once recorded as one of the 10 most obese children in the world. Another member of Arya's team of doctors, Viramitha Kusnandi Rusmil, said Arya needed a series of preparations to undergo the plastic surgery, so that he would have an ideal body mass index (BMI). "This is a case of super obesity. Arya ideally should be 61 kg in weight. We will know how much the weight loss is only after the surgery," said Viramitha, adding that the surgery would be done when Arya reached 80 kg. Arya's mother Rokayah said the plastic surgery might be covered by the Health Care and Social Security Agency.
  3. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-2865342/Korean-Air-executive-kicks-flight-attendant-plane-moments-New-York-failing-serve-nuts-properly.html An executive for Korean Air is facing investigation after she reportedly delayed a flight because a member of the cabin crew didn't serve her nuts properly. The flight was was about to take off from New York's JFK Airport when Korean Air's vice-chairman Cho Yang-ho had a flight attendant removed from plane for failing to offer her a packet of macadamia nuts. South Korean news service Yonhap reports that, when prompted, the attendant gave the daughter of the airline's chief executive Cho Yang-ho macadamia nuts in a bag, and not on a plate as formal business class procedure dictates. For that oversight, Cho, who also goes by her English name Heather, reportedly yelled at the cabin crew member and ordered her off the plane as it was readying to depart JFK Airport for Incheon, near Seoul. The South Korean Government is looking into the executive's on-the-spot disciplinary action against the attendant, who hasn't been named. The plane was already in the process of being taxied to the runway but had to return to the passenger terminal, with the whole saga delaying the New York-bound plane's take-off by 11 minutes, it was confirmed by the airline. However, Korean Air also confirmed that the decision to expel the crew chief had been made in consultation with the pilot. A Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport official, who spoke to Yonhap on the condition of anonymity, said there will be a government investigation into the incident. Law dictates that the cabin crew is under the orders of the captain while on a flight. 'The official explained: ''Even if she is the vice president of the airline, she was one of passengers and should have been treated as one. 'The lesson for the flight attendant could have been given after returning to South Korea.'

Hundreds of dead fish have been removed from Pandan Reservoir over the past few days by the authorities, and the clean-up was still ongoing yesterday afternoon. -- PHOTO: PUB BY FENG ZENGKUN ENVIRONMENT CORRESPONDENT Hundreds of dead fish have been removed from Pandan Reservoir over the past few days by the authorities, and the clean-up was still ongoing yesterday afternoon. National water agency PUB told The Straits Times that it had found low levels of dissolved oxygen in the reservoir water, which likely led to the deaths. "This could be caused by a combination of factors such as dry weather, algae growth and decomposing organic matter taking up the dissolved oxygen," said a spokesman. Tests on water samples showed the reservoir's water quality was not affected, but PUB said it would monitor the situation. - See more at: http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/environment/story/hundreds-dead-fish-removed-pandan-reservoir-water-quality-unaffecte#sthash.9bkzNII3.dpuf
  6. Complex Odontoma ........... Never heard before ... Yahoo news: Surgeons remove 232 teeth from Indian teenager Surgeons in Mumbai have removed 232 teeth from the mouth of an Indian teenager in what they believe may be a world-record operation, the hospital said Thursday. Ashik Gavai, 17, sought medical help for a swelling on the right side of his lower jaw and the case was referred to the city's JJ Hospital, where they found he was suffering from a condition known as complex odontoma, head of dentistry Sunanda Dhivare-Palwankar told AFP. "We operated on Monday and it took us almost seven hours. We thought it may be a simple surgery but once we opened it there were multiple pearl-like teeth inside the jaw bone," she said. After removing those they also found a larger "marble-like" structure which they struggled to shift and eventually had to "chisel out" and remove in fragments, she added. The youngster's father, Suresh Gavai, said that the family had been worried that Ashik's swelling was a cancerous growth. "I was worried that it may turn out to be cancer so I brought him to Mumbai," Gavai told the Mumbai Mirror newspaper. Dhivare-Palwankar said the literature they had come across on the condition showed a maximum of 37 teeth being removed in such a procedure, whereas she and her team had counted more than 232 taken from Gavai's mouth. "I think it could be a world record," she said. Gavai's jawbone structure was maintained during the operation so it should heal without any deformities, the surgeon added. link: https://sg.news.yahoo.com/surgeons-remove-232-teeth-indian-teenager-054152589.html

  8. I am writing to question why sgcarmart removed the mileage when a car is sold. This results in errant car dealers a loophole to tamper with the car mileage and indirectly misleaded the consumers. Can I know why they want to do that?
  9. SAF to ease ban on camera phones in camps By Jermyn Chow The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) is reviewing its blanket ban on all camera- equipped cellphones inside military camps, paving the way for restrictions on such phones to be eased. The Straits Times has learnt that under proposed changes, all SAF personnel will be allowed to bring these phones into all military installations islandwide, so long as the cameras inside them are removed. Responding to queries, the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) confirmed yesterday that it is 'exploring ways' to allow its personnel to use the camera-equipped smartphones, 'while maintaining our current security policy on disallowing personal image-capturing devices to be used on Mindef and SAF premises'. Spokesman Desmond Tan also said the review is being done as Mindef recognises the 'potential benefits provided by smartphones'.

  13. For Singapore next ERP system, current cellular mobile systems or third generation wireless communication could be employed and the mobile set could be embedded in the IU. As 2.5 Generation wireless communication, General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) has quicker session setup, permanent connection, lower cost, higher data rate performance[5]. Furthermore, it is IP based data transmission so the transceiver is unnecessary in the management center, which is connected with Internet. It is better choice for the next ERP system and can be easily upgraded into the next generation wireless communication. http://www.gisdevelopment.net/application/...t/ma06_28pf.htm

  16. SINGAPORE: The Angsana tree in the middle of Braddell Road will be removed after all. The tree had been preserved during road works in 2005, at a cost of S$200,000. A three-lane road had to be split to accommodate the tree. But the Land Transport Authority (LTA) says the tree has to go, as a safety measure. Despite precautionary measures such as additional road markings and safety signs, many motorists still run the risk of collision as they ignore the 40km/h speed limit. Many have also been unable to keep to their lanes. The LTA adds that it had received reports of 'near accident' situations along this stretch. So the LTA and the National Parks Board have decided it would be prudent to remove the tree. To facilitate the removal, there will be lane closures along Braddell Road from 15 July until 7 August 2007. - CNA/yy http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin.../287601/1/.html i had drove past this road a few times and hd no problem with it. anyone with near accidents experience?
  17. Recently my car had this weird noise when cold engine start. It sounds like some crushed ice or water from engine compartment.I could hear it clearly from inside of car.It lasted for few minutes then stop or when engine is warm. I sent it to TC and the mechanic couldn't diagnose what is the cause, and said never encounter that before. Then they told me the noise is gone when they removed heater. They removed the hoses and used rubber stopper to block it. Coolant been tampered coz I installed water temp & rpm gauges, so warranty considered void, moreover I didnt go back TC for servicing. So there's no charge except rubber stopper. SG weather does not require heater but will removal of heater cause any problem in future? TC mechanic told me no problem. They also drain out the air or something and told me to lookout tomorrow morning if coolant level drop then just top up, coz there is still air in the hoses. Thanks.
  18. After fumbling around for 30min, I removed the resonator. Sound levels are still bearable. Like as if the resonator is still there until you floor her and there is some induction noise. So in an essence, the filter box has become an SRI or Short Ram Intake. I also took a peak at the filter. It is dirty already at 10k. So I would say changes every 10k will do. SA didn't change the filter at my free 10k svcing. Guess I got to do it. Know of a place where I can buy the Kalos/Aveo filter?
  19. Since i installed my CAI (DIY) i have a feeling that it's robbing me of my much needed power ...so i removed it..(BTW i have a Surbo installed) and went with a Short RAM intake without much mods to it and went for a sprint. Wow ....My CAI indeed is not doing what i had wanted it to do......haiz waste of time... i think when the air had to travel along the length of the tube they eventually get heated up and the tube basically stifles my engine breathing...with that removed my engine can breathe better.
