Time for a part 2. Thanks to @Leepee for starting the original thread: Hopefully with this new thread, we can set some standard for the type of VRNs to be posted. All these photos were taken by myself in the past few years except for 'SBB8U', which was contributed by @Matoonia. Thanks pal. Let start with Three of a Kind. (Do note that 'S3S' is not a road legal VRN, but created by Tommie Goh for his prized Ferrari F40) And here come the Royal Flush! I know that '88', '888" & '8888' are now on a totally different car (I just saw '888' on a new i4 but not able to take photo 'cos am driving), but I am glad to be able catch these VRNs in person. @Toeknee_33 this 'SBB' series swee boh? Look forward to the active participation from our pool of car plate spotter @Atachi @badlammy @Civic101 @Freeder @Mhajime @Confusedboi @Philiptan86 @Dp26 @Vratenza @Atrecord @BanCoe @Gnahp @Mkl22 @Sdf4786k @SiLangKia @Spring @Tohto @Fcw75 @Othello @mersaylee @Jamesc @RH1667 @zipping @Volvobrick @ER-3682 @Mooose @107fan @Soreloser

Hi All. Is been sometime since I post about my journey about attaining Class 4 driving license in 2022. So today, I will be sharing some information about Bus Driver Vocational License (BDVL), which I just recently completed and passed. I went to ComfortDelgro Pte Ltd (600 Sin Ming Avenue Citycab Building) to register the BDVL course during early Dec 2024. Apparently, why I go there instead of any driving centers like SSDC, CDC and BBDC because it seems like all the driving centers also have BDVL but cannot use SkillsFuture credits to pay for the course. If not, I would have register the BDVL course at CDC which is nearer to where I stayed. Registration for the course is at Level 1. Just have to take a queue number and wait for your turn to be call. Only 2 attendants are available, so waiting times can be long. The course comprises of 2 days theory lessons and 1 day theory test. I will talk more about the details on the course and test later on. When my turn came, I took the opportunity to ask the person to help me register the course via SkillsFuture credits. Before registration, it will be best if you have your Identification card, driving license and passport photo with you as all these are required for the registration. IIRC, I believed they also check your educational level certificate to verify that you can understand basic English or something. (For example, they check my O level certificate must at least D7 and/or above). So after register for the BDVL course at ComfortDelgro Pte Ltd, first thing you need to do is to go for the medical check-up. It will be good if you can book the appointment after the registration so that medical result can be submitted before the course start date. The person will provide you the medical check-up form by LTA, and you will need to bring this form to the medical clinic for the check-up. You MUST go to the clinic that provides Chest X-ray. The check-up consists of the followings: Eye-sight check, Color Blindness check, Blood pressure, Chest X-ray. After all these are done, the medical examiner will sign off the medical form and stamp their clinic stamp on the form. This form, you will need to submit back to the place where you register the course from (For me, I registered at ComfortDelgro Pte Ltd, so I have to go back there to submit the medical form to them). I am not sure about other course locations, but for ComfortDelgro some of the dates are weekends and the test is on a Monday. so for working adults like me, I think is option is the best. So I chose 04 & 05 Jan 2025 (Sat & Sun) for the course, 06 Jan (Mon) for the test. The 2 days course lessons basically touch based on what are the different types of buses and what are the requirements for the bus driver before they can operate the bus. Different buses such as Private Bus, Private Hire Bus, School Bus, Excursion Bus and so on and all these buses have different license plate starting with PC, PZ, PA PB, PD orCB etc... They also covered topics like traffic road signs, very much similar to your Basic Theory Test (BTT) & Final Theory Test (FTT). For example, what are the 5 traffic signs, they are Prohibited signs, Mandatory signs, Warning signs, Information sign, Directional sign. Then they also covered parkings, such as single, double parallel lines, single and double Zigzag lines, what are the Do's and Don'ts etc.. They also covered topics such as what are the ways to overtake a vehicles, what are the types of accidents and what are the forces (frictional force, centrifugal force, etc..) I won't focus much on the topics as all these will be taught during the 2 days lessons. After the lessons, the test will be usually on the following day. After the 2 days lessons, you will be given the Certificate of Participation by ComfortDelgro. As for the test, there will be 50 MCQs. 3 answers per question. Just have to circle the correct answer. There will be different booklets issued to everyone, so sitting side by side won't be able to copy each other answers as the questions will be different altogether. It is a 1 hour test. After the test, you can submit the paper and the invigilator will mark your paper on the spot while you can wait outside. Once done, if you pass, you will be issue a temporary BDVL (a slip of paper) that you may start driving a bus. By the way, this BDVL is different from the Omnibus you take public bus outside (Class 4A) license, as their licence a bit special because the driver works for the company. Once the driver quit, the Class 4A will return to the company. But the BDVL is valid for 3 years. Every 3 years must renew. Once hit the age of 50-65, every 2 years must go medical check up. After 65 years old, every year must go medical check up. (This info came out in the test). Now LTA no longer issue physical vocational licence card already. Everything all digital and will reflect in your Singpass account. Just have to wait for LTA to update in a few days. If you wish to have the physical vocational licence, you may pay SGD 21.80 for the card to mail to you within 20 working days or something. That card will have your passport photo (which I mentioned is either you took a recent passport photo / the person took your photo on the day you register for your course), Name, NRIC etc..then behind which state what is your vocational licence type (Bus, taxi etc..) For those who are not well verse in English, not to worry as the test will comprises of English and Chinese. A lot of my course mates were old uncles who were not good in English were actually worried that they have difficulty in passing the test. However, the irony part is that the booklet for the lessons is all in English. The test actually is very simple one, very easy to pass actually. A gentle reminder that the 2nd batch of SkillsFuture credits will expire 31 Dec 2025. Those who did not utilise them, is best to do so now. Yup, that is about it. Will create another topic about Class 5 driving course which I did not complete it in 2023 due to work commitment and also hesitating whether do I want to continue again.

Hi folks As per title, i need to trace a vehicle number to its registered owner. Any idea on how to go about it?
-
Now you say "I do" also expensive liao. For those planning to tie the knot the later half of the year, the Registry of Marriages (ROM) has just announced that they will be increasing the fees starting from 1 July 2017. According to reports, the price hike will affect foreigners the most with the fees increased to a flat fee of $380 for all dates. Previously it costs $128 on weekdays, $198 on weekends and $298 on popular days. For Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (PR), the fees will be upped from $26 to $42 for the registration. A ROM spokesman states the price review was made to keep up with rising operational costs and ensuring quality service for the registrants. Hi everyone, I will be getting a used car from a dealer. What are the charge to get a brand new of vehicle registration number without going for bidding number. Planning to get a Honda Stream RSZ to extend for another 10 years of COE. Thank you
-
Hi! I realised used cars now have SKB, SKC....new registration plates. Is it because they bought a new 10 year COE or they just prefer new number? They can still use the old number that came with the car right?

Anyone can enlighten me how long will it take from new car registration at LTA to owner taking delivery and what are the procedures/step? what are the things to be done 1st prior to registration? I'm asking cos according to my SE, car already in port and awaiting from superior to approve before he will proceed with the registration. I've asked him question like coe bidding, lta inspection and putting up of additional accessories but the answer is "sorry, have to wait boss instruction 1st". Rather irritated by his answer but guess he's playing it safe and dun wan to commit into anything yet in case something screw up and i no choice but to start banging table liao hehehe.. As for coe, its either they will die die bid 1 for me on the next round or just throw in the cat E, of which i dun really bothered much. But he did promised me on black & white that car will be delivered latest by 26/03/07. So i'm wandering how long it'll take to deliver after registration. Still not confident if they can really do it by the stated date. Will appreciate any info/feedback by those new car buyer who have got their ride. Btw, mine is from PI, quite a reputable one I should say. Thanks.

Hi All Need some experts here to give me some advise on converstion to a Private Limited Company. I understand that for Companies with less than 20 individual shareholders (Exempt Private Companies) do not need to appoint an auditor, audit their accounts or file them with ACRA if their revenue is less than S$5 million for the financial year. But what is Exempt Private Companies? Will the Private Limited Company be subjected to alot of regulatory checks? I'm thinking of converting my current company to a Pte Ltd. Many thanks in advance.

Can I ask if you guys have insisted to accompany dealer to lta to register the new car under your name and on the spot then only pass the full payment to dealer? Or u just pay and let them do the regist ration later by themselves? Car cannot be driven away by you till lta registration completed right?

I saw a Toyota Innova that bears QR plate with Malaysia road tax sticker. A quick check reveals that it was a Sarawak registered car. I am toying with the idea of driving my car to East Malaysia for a road trip. Anybody knows how or done it before? Should be by ferry, right? Cheers

P1 registration: Child must live at declared address for at least 30 months from July 2, 2015 Children who have secured places in primary schools under the home-school distance priority will be required to stay at the address for at least 30 months from the start of the Primary 1 registration exercise on July 2, 2015. -- PHOTO: ST FILE By Amelia Teng SINGAPORE - Children who have secured places in primary schools under the home-school distance priority scheme will be required to live at the address for at least 30 months from the start of the Primary 1 registration exercise on July 2. This new rule applies to children entering primary school next year. Previously there was no specific length of time set by the Ministry of Education (MOE). The ministry said on its website: "A child who gains priority admission into a school through his/her distance category is required to reside at the address used for registration for at least 30 months from the commencement of the P1 registration exercise on 2 July 2015." The ministry said that there are a small number of cases where families are unable to remain at the registered address for the entire duration of their children's primary school studies. Even so, a child who gains priority admission into school by distance must still abide by the new rule, it said. "If this condition is not met, MOE reserves the right to transfer the child to another school with vacancies, as the priority admission to the first school was based on the declared address used for registration," the ministry said. "The home-school distance category priority is given with the expectation that the family will reside at the address for the duration of the child's primary school studies, as it is for the convenience and interest of the child," it added. Families which have bought a yet-to-be completed property and plan to move in after it is completed, are required to live at the new address for at least 30 months starting from the time the family moves into the property. "For example, if the child registers in 2015 and only moves into the new address in July 2017, the 30 months stay period starts from July 2017," MOE said on its website. In March this year, a father who lied about where he lived to get his daughter into a top primary school was sentenced to two weeks in jail. The 35-year-old self-employed man, who cannot be named to protect his daughter's identity, pleaded guilty in February to giving false information to the school's principal on July 30, 2013. A charge of lying to a police sergeant 10 days earlier to change the address on his identity card was taken into consideration. The man had indicated his address as being within 1km to 2km of the brand-name school, when he registered his daughter under Phase 2C of the Primary 1 registration exercise in 2013. This allowed his daughter to secure a place. His identity card showed the same address, but the man actually lived in Balestier Road, which fell outside the priority radius. The address he provided belonged to his uncle's sister, and had been rented out. His subterfuge came to light when MOE visited the place. He wants to retain his Honda's vehicle registration number to be used on his New car. - to get a new vehicle registration number for Honda - to transfer the vehicle ownership from my friend to me - source insurance and assist in road tax if applicable Who can provide me administrative services for the above? I called SG carmart connect. But they told me that I have to do myself the Vehicle registration number retention portion and the rest they could assist. Thanks.

I was driving into Malaysia and at the Malaysia side of the customs, there was a a traffic jam and cars were inching/merging slowly in multiple columns into the customs lane. All the vehicles were crawling forward and I wanted to change lane and signalled my intention. After a while, when there was a sizeable gap, I shifted my car nose in (about 20% in at an oblique angle). A maroon Toyota Wish driver in the adjacent lane, unhappy that I made it into his lane, came near and pointed his bumper into my driver side door. I stopped moving but he did not. He deliberately turned his steering to the right and continued moving forward, scrubbing his left corner edge of his bumper across my driver side door, leaving paint marks and abrasive scratches, after which he stopped his vehicle right next to mind and gesticulate with the palm-up wave that communicated "you think you can just barge in, dream on!". I'm not going to argue who's right and who's wrong, but I would like to make a claim against his insurance. I only have pictures of his vehicle's rear, and a very blur picture of his face (through the windscreen), and a picture of the damage to my car. What can I do to make the claim?
