What is the process for our analog speedometer? Is it something very technical?

Hi to al the brothers here, I am currently driving a year 2000 1.5A Sunny. Was told by a friend's wife who works in LTA that the ECU chip for this model has some bugs . That's why the consumption pattern is rather eratic, and can be on the high side. So, no matter what you do, (e.g. magnets, grounding, K&N filter, spark plugs etc.), it still drinks like a camel. Thus, the best thing to do is to have the ECU chip replaced, and the ECU recalibrated . Question, anyone out there has any info on how does ones get the ECU ship replaced? I reckon going back to the agent (Tan Chong Motors) would cost major $$, right ? Rgds
