'Skiing' on the roads? We aren't even sure what to make of this!
chitchatboy posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
This Circuit Breaker has sure been giving us lots of funny and interesting events. I mean, we aren't even sure whether we should find this cool or silly. We spotted this video on ROADS.sg's website where a man has been caught 'skiing' on our public roads at around 5.40pm on 5th of May. Obviously the wet roads aren't the issue here as the short video clip demonstrates the 'skiier’ easily maneuvering around traffic. We reckon everyone along Raffles Quay would be either impressed or annoyed as he can be seen holding on to what looked like a pair of ski poles. ROADS.sg then suggested that the roller ski could be similar to what was worn by the people in the following photo. 1.mp4 -

UPDATED (25 August 2012, 3:13pm to add shopper's account) A 26-year-old man was found dead by the stairwell of a shopping centre in Raffles Place on Friday afternoon. Police said they responded to a call for assistance at 11 Collyer Quay, the site of The Arcade, at 4:34pm and, upon arrival, found the man motionless. The Indonesian-Chinese male was pronounced dead by paramedics shortly after 5pm. Channel NewsAsia quoted a money-changer at the centre, Mohd Ali, as saying that the deceased was from Batam and regularly changed money with money changers in the area, sometimes up to S$100,000. A man who was at the scene, 24-year-old investment analyst Asyraf, said that eye witnesses told him they found the dead body in the staircase and that the incident appeared to be a robbery that escalated into a killing. "We couldn't see the crime scene from where we were standing and there were no signs of blood or anything. There was a man in his twenties crying beside a closed door which led to the staircase, and I was told that he is actually the victim's brother. To my understanding, they were both robbed at the same time," he told Yahoo! Singapore Saturday. He described the crying man as Chinese with short black hair and wearing a white polo. "It was heart wrenching to see him cry like that, sort of like in a whimper, very exhausted, to know that your brother is behind the other side of the door lying in a pool of blood, dead. I couldn't bear to watch his misery any further and I took my leave after a few minutes," Asyraf added. Yahoo! Singapore understands that no arrests have been made, but police have classified this as an unnatural death and are investigating. Additional reporting by Melissa Law Source: http://sg.news.yahoo.com/man-found-dead-in...ing-centre.html No joke.. Rather scary..

Hopefully the family don't sue SCDF SINGAPORE - An American hotel guest at the Swissotel The Stamford died from a fall from a height of at least 60 storeys in the wee hours of the morning on Sunday. The 40-year-old, whose identity is withheld by the hotel to respect her family's privacy, landed on an inaccessible metal parapet three storeys from the ground level, said The Straits Times (ST). On Sunday at about 4.10am, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received a call for assistance at Raffles City along Stamford Road. The woman was found by paramedics to have suffered multiple injuries. According to ST, the woman was thought unlikely to survive the impact of her fall, which delivered a 'severe blunt force trauma', damaging also the parapet. When they got to the scene, they could not reach her where she landed on the parapet near the 24-hour Starbucks coffee joint at Raffles City. They had to access a staircase to get to her and retrieve her body using safety harnesses and rescue lines. As they approached her, parts of the parapet gave way and her body fell to the ground, landing outside Starbucks. No customers or employees were standing outside, at the spot where the body landed, at the time. Police are still investigating and have classified the case as an unnatural death. A hotel spokesman said the hotel extended its deepest condolences to her family and friends. It is also helping the police with investigations. The Swissotel The Stamford is the tallest hotel here at 73 stories and one of South-east Asia's tallest. Business as usual Starbucks said the woman's fall had damaged the roof of its outdoor seating area and caused water leakage. However, it is business as usual for the cafe, although the outdoor area is currently closed for repairs. A Raffles City spokesman told ST that retail operations were as usual at the mall.

Anyone went to the show as well? Waiting a few hours to catch the magic show where the Volkswagen was "teleported" from the Leng Kee showroom onto the stage. I sort of anticipated that the car will be teleported that way, so earlier the day, was scrutinizing the stage. Also looked below the stage, and was see-through. Still figuring out how they did it. BTW, for 4D punters, the 4-digit on the car came out in Sun's draw, although jumped. So buy ibet or Roll will tio. Pity I didnt buy.
