Ikea just can't get a break. First, the international purveyor of self-assembled furniture and Scandanavian hors d'ouvres got roped into the horsemeat scandal when traces of horse DNA were found in meatballs and sausages it sold. Now, according to the Guardian, almond cakes from its restaurants in 23 countries are being pulled after bacteria usually found in fecal matter was discovered. The Swedish retailer stopped sales of its almond cakes after Chinese customs authorities found two batches that fell short of the country's hygiene standards, the Wall Street Journal reported. Ikea said Chinese customs officials last December seized and destroyed a batch of 1,800 cakes imported from Sweden after tests revealed that the cakes contained a prohibitively high level of coliform bacteria

Hi bros, Need some advice. My car pulls left the moment I let go the steering wheel. It bad enough that within 1 lamp post length, half my car in another lane already. Its not the usual subtle left drifting that occurs on roads crown to the left due to drainage runoffs. In order to travel straight, the 12o'clock position on my steering wheel is pointing at 1o'clock position (around 1 inch to the right). Went to see Kenny but not able to rectify. Anyone else got further advise? Thanks in advance!

Just curious. Previously Honda fanatics very proud (at least for a few of my colleagues), always tell me they buy Honda because of its racing history, that its engine has been tuned by F1 spinoff, other makes cannot compare one etc, etc. They die die must get a Honda. Their famous one liner is 'without racing, there is no Honda'. Try google it and you will see the slogan at the core of Honda motto and F1 being poster-boy event of it. Now that Honda has pulled out of F1, has that dented the confidence of these fanatics in the car maker? More importantly, will they buy their next car from Honda? I also would like to know what other racing events (significant ones) Honda has taken part in to hone their engine and chassis technology? Pardon my ignorance on this. Does pulling out of F1 means no more racing for Honda? This is not intended as a flaming thread so if you have nothing to contribute, please stay away. I am not a Honda basher, and might consider Honda if find them attractive, like Freed. For me, anything also can if it is good and value-for-money. Just want to get some feedback on the topic. Thanks.

Now only manufacturers left are: Citroen, Ford and Subaru. With Ford in deep doo doo, it may be next to go.

Vancouver-based Mountain Equipment Co-op became the first major Canadian retailer to stop selling products that contain bisphenol A over fears the chemical can leach from plastic food and water containers. "Inconclusive science and regulatory uncertainty presently surrounds bisphenol-A (BPA)," the company said in a statement. "For these reasons, MEC has stopped selling polycarbonate water bottles and food containers until guidance is provided by the Government of Canada on the health risks posed by BPA." The Canadian co-operative joins U.S.-based Patagonia in dropping the products because of health concerns. The chemical, which can mimic the effects of the hormone estrogen in cells, has been surrounded by controversy. Some North American researchers and environmentalists have shown it can cause several types of cancer as well as developmental, neural, behavioral and reproductive harm in animals. Industry says the products are not dangerous, citing studies from government agencies such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that food and beverage containers manufactured from polycarbonate do not pose a health risk to humans. "Rarely has a chemical been the subject of such intense scientific testing and scrutiny, and still, important agencies across the globe agree that there is no danger posed to humans from polycarbonate bottles," said Tom Cummins, spokesman for Nalgene and Nunc Brand Products, which manufacturers the popular Nalgene polycarbonate water bottles. Besides hard-plastic water bottles, bisphenol A is also used in some baby bottles and the linings of some food cans, including most major brands of infant formula, according to a study co-released this week by Environmental Defence Canada and the Washington-based Environmental Working Group. "We have study after study showing that this chemical is toxic,... and there are safe and available alternatives that are affordable," said Aaron Freeman, policy director of Environmental Defence Canada. Canada's health department declined to comment before it releases preliminary results of a review of the chemical's effects next spring. "We are looking at as much research as we can to make a very science-based assessment," said Joey Rathwell, a spokeswoman for Health Canada. Norway and the European Union are also reviewing the product. Japanese manufacturers decided voluntarily to stop making products using polycarbonate plastic five to six years ago. Although the Italian tyre manufacturer has not put out an official statement, Pirelli's motorsport director, Paul Hembrey has confirmed to both the official WRC website and Autosport that their programme with the Subaru World Rally team will cease following the Wales Rally GB in December, the final round of the 2006 FIA WRC championship. Pirelli have yet to win this season, while rivals BF Goodrich have won all eight events, although admittedly they supply five of the 'manufacturer' squads, including BP Ford and Kronos Citroen. Pirelli have been left with just one team, Subaru, following the decision by Peugeot and Mitsubishi to quit the sport. "We felt that we were getting limited exposure after the loss of two of our partner teams. The decision was marketing-led and reflects feedback from our markets around the world. Motorsport is a marketing tool and is a service to a company. But we have a duty to the board and the shareholders and must go with what they decide," Hembrey told the official WRC website - www.wrc.com. Pirelli's decision however may only be temporary and with the WRC set to follow the lead of F1 and only have single supplier in 2008, Hembrey added that they will consider tendering a bid, although if they will actually submit one remains to be seen. Hi Guys, My car pulls to one side (mainly right side) whenever i step on the brakes !!! Sometimes i even could feel the tail is like 'unstable' ie not stopping in a straight line..... abit like a wriggling snake..... i will see my mech very very soon. What'z the problem???
