Met this Deaf and Mute Russian Biker along the walkway around OG (Albert Complex)/Fu Lu Shou/The Bencoolen, saw him asking passerby to read his notes but most people walking there are Chinese and many of them can't read a word of English and so they just walk away. I went over and donated a few $ to his cause and using my phone's Notes function and key in English to him that most of the passerby along there don't really understand English so I will try to translate it into Chinese Characters and pass it to him this weekend. Me 'England' and 'Chinese' also '1/2 pail water' only I used Google to Translate and this is the result: "I want to enter The Guinness book of records as the only deaf and mute individual who has traveled all the former soviet union, europe, africa, australia, asia and the americas on a motocycle. Russia. www.yarets.com" "我想进入吉尼斯世界纪录作为唯一的聋哑个人谁走过所有的前苏联,欧洲,非洲,澳大利亚,亚洲和美洲的摩托车。俄罗斯. www.yarets.com" "Can you help me with some petrol? Thanks you very much for your kind support !!!" "你能帮助我的一些汽油?谢谢你的热心支持!!!"

Hi guys, Just wanna recommend a pretty good car wash service in Sin Ming area. For $15, you get the following : 1. Proper car wash using Sonax shampoo 2. Vacuum 3. Tire Shine 4. Finish of with Sonax 3-in-1 mirror shine Compared to those petrol kiosk manual wash, i will definitely go for this as u're only paying $3 more. I do wash my ride frequently on my own (weekly), but usually dont wash my rims cuz i using no-rinse wash. So this is a good alternative to complement my weekly/monthly car maintainance. Disclaimer : I've completely NOT RELATED in anyway to the service provider. Those interested can pm me for the address.

This question was raised 2 hours ago during my lunch time: how to properly shut down a car engine (automatic transmission only). I am pretty sure a lot of us do this: 1. Stop the car in your parking lot. 2. Push the gear to Parking mode (P). 3. Pull the hand brake. 4. Turn off ignition. 5. Remove keys. A few of my colleagues had different procedures, which they claim they heard from their friends that this will prolong the lifespan of their gearbox: 1. Stop the car in your parking lot. 2. Pull hand brake. 3. Put gear to Neutral (N). 4. Turn off ignition. 5. Push gear to Parking mode (P). 6. Remove keys. Which method is the correct one?

This is a very technical question. EXPERTS, I would love to see your comments :) I went to do wheel alignment for my Vios at Stamford Tyre at Bukit Batok. After adjusting with all the laser machine fitted on, I test drive, realize my steering wheel is tilted to one side, I went back, the mechanic use a spanner to adjust both side of wheels with both side full lock respectively, to make the steering wheel straight. This, may I ask, renders a proper alignment job? It seems to be done wherever I go. Hankook tyre, Riverview Auto, all do the same this. I ask them, won't the alignment by laser be off once you adjust this? All say no, but I doubt.

Just want to share with the bros here about the Superb's gear shift. Recently my gear shift had some issues and it was detected that the contact release button to the clutch was snapped under the silver button, this caused my gear not to be able to be shifted to drive mode after it was at park mode, it was later rectified at Skoda dealership as it was covered under warranty. As I spoke to the technician he suggested the following proper technique in shifting gears. In the two pictures I posted, shows the correct way to depress the clutch release(chrome shiny button) with your thumb spread evenly over the entire contract surface of the release button and depress it at an even pressure. This will ensure the connector switch in to contact properly as you shift the gear from park mode to drive/neutral/1/2 gear. The second picture shows the incorrect way of depress the clutch release. In this wrong prosture illustration, unknowingly you the one-sided pressure contact point over time will force the contact point under the switch to be angled and thus cause it to snap within the switch, this is probably due to wear and tear, through in proper contact, but it is covered under warranty during the warrany months. I would encourage the bros/sis to use the proper technique to extend the lifespan of your gear shift and enjoy your ride.

I dont understand with this people http://news.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne%2BNew...202-196153.html KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 2, 2010 (AFP) - Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim said he would call Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife as witnesses in his sodomy trial due to begin Tuesday, accusing them of conspiring against him. Anwar, who was sacked as deputy premier and jailed on similar charges a decade ago, criticised the case as "the machinations of the dirty, corrupt few" as he arrived at court accompanied by his wife and daughters. Anwar said he had evidence that his accuser, 24-year-old former aide Mohamad Saiful Bukhari Azlan, had met with Najib and his wife Rosmah Mansor at their home shortly before he lodged a police report. "We want to subpoena Najib and Rosmah as witnesses because they were personally involved in the conspiracy and frame-up," he told reporters. "It is politically motivated," he said of the trial which he maintains is a plot to end his political career and neutralise the threat he poses to the Barisan Nasional coalition government. The court adjourned until 0630 GMT to allow defence lawyers to attempt to delay the trial while they pursue manoeuvres including a bid to obtain prosecution evidence such as medical reports and CCTV footage. "They should not proceed with the matter. Anwar should be allowed to exhaust all appeals," defence lawyer Sankara Nair told reporters. "Everything should be disposed of, to ensure a fair trial." Anwar's lawyers will now meet with Malaysia's chief justice to seek his support for another postponement in the trial, which was originally due to begin last July. As the hearing got underway, up to 300 opposition supporters marched into the High Court building and stood on the staircase in the main lobby, yelling their battlecry of "Reformasi" or "Reform." "We are here to demonstrate against the injustice that Anwar is facing, we will be here every day until this matter is resolved," said parliamentarian Tian Chua. The courtroom was packed to capacity, with reporters, legal observers, and diplomats from the US, Japan and European nations who are keeping a close watch on the proceedings. Human rights group Amnesty International has criticised as "dirty tricks" the charges against Anwar, who in his first trial was brought to court with a black eye after a vicious beating from the police chief. Saiful's father, Azlan Mohamad Lazim, said at the court that his son was present on Tuesday and "ready and prepared to testify in the case." He declined to comment on Anwar's allegations over the meeting with Najib, but the prime minister last year told a press conference that Saiful did call on him to allege he had been sodomised by Anwar. Anwar rallied the opposition to unprecedented gains in 2008 elections, seizing a third of parliamentary seats in the most potent challenge yet to the Barisan Nasional which has ruled for half a century. The charismatic 62-year-old, a married father of six, was a celebrated finance minister before being sacked in 1998 amid a policy row with then-premier Mahathir Mohamad during the Asian economic crisis. He was convicted of sodomy and corruption but after spending six years behind bars, the sexual misconduct charge was overturned and he was freed in 2004. The trial looms after a tumultuous few months in Malaysian politics, with the opposition beset by infighting and the government struggling to handle a religious row that has seen places of worship firebombed and vandalised. Najib has battled to defend Malaysia's image as a moderate Muslim-majority nation after a caning sentence against a young woman caught drinking beer and other cases that have raised fears the country is being "Islamised." The Anwar trial, which defence lawyers say could drag on for eight months, poses a major challenge for both sides on the political divide, and will be a high-profile test of Malaysia's much-criticised justice system.

hey!! i recently scratched another car's bumper while parking. the thought of just disappearing did enter my mind, but i decided to leave a note with my apologies and contact number. the person called. pretty polite. she quoted me 400, based on what her authorised dealer quoted her to respray the whole bumper and that she will only send in the car for fixing when she is going overseas etc, as she needs to use her car. when i asked if she could just touch up on the part that i scratched, she went back to check with the authorised dealer who suggested that doing so would result in a two tone finish after more than 6 months. so she is quite firm on getting the whole bumper sprayed. i've not been into a situation like this before, so i'd just like to get some advice as to whether it is fair that she chooses the workshop? or can i have the right to ask for her to go to another shop to get the bumper sprayed? must i spray the whole bumper or just touch up? should i only pay when she gets it fixed? if everyone says that i should respray the whole bumper at the authorised dealer then so be it. i just want to understand that is the normal procedure, just so i'm not put at a disadvantaged position by her. thanks!! would appreciate your advice.

I am extremely amazed and puzzled when Mr Gadgeteer, pointed out that we, Forumers must use proper English. Is this an English teaching Forum that requires proper English to explicate every single emotion that we have? I would suggest that this forum, in this case, be changed to "Use Proper English Car Forum" instead. Mr Gadgeteer, I am wondering whether should the identity, users' name be a proper noun then? I am just trying to make some sense out of a Forum which provides a place for forumers to express their views. What if my English is just an F9? I failed my English, I am not allowed here until I pass one day? By the way, Mr Gadgeteer, everybody knows that English should start with a capital "E" and not "english". Please mind your English. Just a suggestion. However, since you are the Moderator, you do have all rights to bar me but I think that this is not personal and we are adults. I am just trying to be objective here. Yours Truly

Hi people, Please try to use proper English when you start a thread or reply to a post. No Hokkien-English (or any other form of dialect) please, as MCF is a multi racial forum. Thanks.

1. Instead of saying so much about how local car magazines CMI, why not we put into action and tell them what should a more meaningful test review be? 2. I've the following suggestions (not in order of importance): a) Spaciousness You often see magazines mentioned how spaciousness the car is, but there is no benchmark nor somethings that they measured against with. They should have something to tell us how spacious is the cabin rather than based on technical specifications, for example: b) Fuel economy Instead of relying on manufacturers' data, they should be doing their own tests instead, for example: c) For road performance, again, instead of relying on manufacturers' data, do a 0-100km, 100-400km and etc. Run a few rounds and get an average result. d) For interior, Please take more photos rather than write more words. Meanhwile, try to compare the differences between new model with the ex-model. Don't talk about climate control like a big in-thing. e) Handling, Work harder and don't be lazy, go find a better place to do handling tests. Not just around a corner in an open space car park. Mention why a particular road or area is chosen for the test, explain what they want to achieve from the test. Testing rpm should be mentioned too. f) Pricing When a writer says a car is expensive, please mention why? are OMV, COE and etc included in the formula? g) NVM Go and invest in a NVM tester. Instead of saying how quiet a car is, use the tester to measure before pick-up, after pick-up, initial 60km/h and the next 100Km/h. h) Street Survey No harm taking a few comments from street survey or in the car showroom or expo. People may have different views and perception. Again be very clear what you want to ask them. 3. Please feel free to comment and add. Thank you very much. Regards,

I would like to find out from you guys. Do you insist that your mechanic must issue you official receipts after each repair? Among the few ws I visited, only Lee Sheng and CAS issue proper receipts for each service/repair. Do you dare to visit ws which doesn't issue proper receipts?

During car wash, I have tried using Ma Ma Lemon to clean the windscreen but during wiping dry with the Micro Fibre cloth, I can see some stain layer on the windscreen, not sure those are road grimes or silicon deposit. Previously I have done the spa treatment on the windscreen but after few days of raining, there seems to be some stain on the windscreen. What is the proper way to remove those stains? Anyone can advise me?

When the mech installed my rear strut bars a few months ago, i rem that he jacked up the rear of my car, clearing the boot and then installing the strut bar. Is there a reason for jacking up the car? or it is ok to just bolt it on? Is it the same for installing a front strut bar?
