Has anyone else try reseting the DSG shift points following the procedure mentioned here ? http://www.golfmk6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51206 -------------- 1 Put your key in the ignition and turn ignition to the on position (don't start the engine!) 2 Hold down the gas pedal pressing the button under the pedal for at least 20 seconds. 3 Let foot off pedal and start car. Be sure that you do no turn ignition off because that will void the reset (not so sure it still works) --------------- I am doing it once in a while and it seems to work. The DSG after the reset will not shift so quickly and eliminates the juddering from D2-D3.

Hi, Can anyone advise what is the procedure like if I were to sell my car directly to owner? I understand that the buyer and I need to go to LTA to transfer the vehicle to his name. But do I need to deregister the vehicle before transferring to the buyer's name? I can't find any info about this on LTA site. It seems like from LTA site, we only need to fill up the transfer form only. On top of this, how do I actually settle my outstanding loan? I mean, if the buyer pass me the cheque, does it need to be under my name or the bank's name? Anyone here experienced selling their ride to direct owner? Please advise. Cheers Orac

Dear MCFers, got a question and hope you could help. My sis recently registered a business with ACRA. Let's say the name of her business is "myshop". She was given a priority to use this name "www.myshop.com" in internet. Assuming she has created a simple homepage using html and wishes to load this into internet, can someone please advise on the procedure. How much does she have to pay to host this page? Many thanks.

I guess I am not the only frustrated owner to be waiting for LTA to approve VICOM and then VITAS. LTA says takes about a month to 2 before a Cat B car can be released... urm yes, a Cat B car and NOT a Cat A car so no issue of turbo or not... The purpose of this thread is to seek clarity on the process and procedures before the car can be released to the owner. There is no transparency from the authorities. Don't understand why one car has to go through 2 inspections and of different sorts to waste everyone's time. Couldn't this be done all at one queue and one visit? How many weeks to get an appointment to clear VICOM? 1 - 2 months. How many weeks to get another appointment to clear VITAS? 1 - 2 weeks. VICOM is causing the queue... true? VITAS can just queue on the spot and get cleared within a day while LTA takes an other week or 2 to issue the certificate... true? What do the check at VICOM or VITAS? The above all based on hear say... like i said, always hearing different things from people. Would appreciate feedback from folks who understand the system and clear serious doubts...

Hi all, somebody kiss my backside and he admitted that it is his fault. He wants a private settlement and ask me to go to his workshop for repair and he will pay for everything. In this case, do i still need to inform my insurer about the accident? Will it affect my NCD?

SORRY!TYPO HEADER! i mean is there even a "correct" procedure? Reminds me of an incident i witness on saturday night at an open-space carpark. the carpark i was at was full.it was prolly 20 lots in total. there was a car (A) waiting for an empty lot (with hazard lite on) slightly in the middle of the entire carpark. awhile later, 1 car was leaving so car (A) slowly reverse. out of no where, a pickup drove in n parked into the lot. car (A) honk for the longest time. (think my dead grandma oso will wake up from her grave) but pickup still take his time adjusting his vehicle in the empty lot. so car (A) got out from his vehicle and walked towards the pickup. car (A) : "excuse me, i was waiting for the lot.. basic courtesy la. i was waiting already." pickup : *swings open his door and bang onto the door of the car parking beside* "WHAT COURTESY?! f--k U LA!!!" pickup driver walks away with his gf pretending to look at her handph. car (A) tongue tied and walk back to his car, FHL, carried on waiting for the next empty lot. so my question is, is there a quick and fast rule to first-come-first-serve in public carpks like this?

Hi, i am considering to purchase a 2nd-hand car but i am not very familiar with the procedure. I have several questions. Can anyone provide me some advise? i currently own a normal black plate sedan car. intending to sell my car and buy another 2nd hand car. My car has 7 years loan, now at 4plus year. Q1) Assume the 2nd hand car i am going to buy is 3 years old, what should i do first? - buy the 2ndhand car, then sell my car? (will the bank approve my loan since i already have an existing car loan which i havent sell yet) - or sell/trade-in my car, then buy the 2ndhand car? Q2) If the 2ndhand car has 5 years left, is it possible to get 7 years loan? or i can only get a maximum of 5 years loan? How about a car left 3 years? What is the max year to loan? Q3) i still have $20k outstanding loan for my car. If i sell my car for $42k in the resale market, does it mean i will get back $22k cash? is there any other hidden fee that i need to pay anyone or the govt/LTA? Q4) i always hear people talk about breakeven. May i know what does breakeven actually mean when changing a car? Eg. 7 years loan, 5 years is the best time to change car? Sorry for the many newbie questions.

Many have asked, but few have answered. This is my field report for the benefit of those who wants to replace their defaced OPC car number plate. Mine was plastic numbering and has turned yellow in less than a year. 1. Download form R08 from onemotoring.com.sg > LTA information & guidelines > forms download > WEC & Off Peak car scheme >R08 2. Find a car number plate maker and get ur number plate done. (duration for new number plate to be done = 30min - 1hr) ($60 - $80) 3. Have form R08 chop and signed by ur car number plate maker at Appendix 1 of the form. Fill in his particulars on the front page too. Choose option 3. other reason from the option y u wanna change ur number plate. State reason as "replace defaced number plate" 4. Send ur car to inspection center for seal inspection ($10.70). 5. Bring along owner photostat IC (if owner, then own IC), inspection slip and filled form R08 to LTA Sin Ming. (duration = <1hr) 6. Bring to workshop with the LTA approval letter to remove the seal and change the number plate. ($70- $100 depends how complicated it is, some seal need welding to remove and re-attach) 7. Send back to inspection center to apply the seal. ($16.05) 8. DONE! I just got it done yesterday all in all took me only 3hrs from inspection, LTA approval, remove seal, re-apply seal. Total damaged $156.75 + $20 OPC coupon. Hope this helps our fellow OPC driver!

hey!! i recently scratched another car's bumper while parking. the thought of just disappearing did enter my mind, but i decided to leave a note with my apologies and contact number. the person called. pretty polite. she quoted me 400, based on what her authorised dealer quoted her to respray the whole bumper and that she will only send in the car for fixing when she is going overseas etc, as she needs to use her car. when i asked if she could just touch up on the part that i scratched, she went back to check with the authorised dealer who suggested that doing so would result in a two tone finish after more than 6 months. so she is quite firm on getting the whole bumper sprayed. i've not been into a situation like this before, so i'd just like to get some advice as to whether it is fair that she chooses the workshop? or can i have the right to ask for her to go to another shop to get the bumper sprayed? must i spray the whole bumper or just touch up? should i only pay when she gets it fixed? if everyone says that i should respray the whole bumper at the authorised dealer then so be it. i just want to understand that is the normal procedure, just so i'm not put at a disadvantaged position by her. thanks!! would appreciate your advice.

I was told we go to IDAC and report our case. My friend got into accident with no injury, then go to IDAC and report. The person took down the 'statement' but they feel the way he write it, sounds a bit inaccurate of the actual situation. But the IDAC person keep saying never mind one, this one not final. in the end, insurance company say he is at fault. What is the way to re-address this ? thanks

hi hi, anyone know the operational procedure of issuing traffic offence? Here's the story, I've been served a fine of $120 and 3 demerit points for "(LV) Park Within a Demerit Points No Parking Zone Under Rule 24A Road Traffic Rules". This was at 4am at Lorong Liput. I was standing next to my car when the there was this police car who turned in to open the gates at Holland Village (you know those driveway that they close for pedestrain at night). And I kept looking at the policeman who alighted from the car to see if I need to shift my car. He didin't even look at me, and the next thing I know, I get this a week later. My point is, can't he have given me a warning, or issue me a fine on the spot? Why so sneaky?

My sis has a small shop with quite a number of foreign workers near her location. She is thinking of installing a coin telephone at her shop so that the workers without a HP could still make a call. She is looking at the typical orange color public phone used in coffee shops or provision shop. What is the procedure and how much would such a phone cost? Thanks for your inputs.
