hi, have a problem today. hope you guys know what it is. kia forte 1.6sx of 5 years and 4 months old, 77Kkm mileage. Today the car jerks at idle at red light, and i can see that RPM slight jumps up and down, like 400rpm - 700rpm. Usually it is idle at 400rpm without up and down. The jerk is about every 4 seconds, not constant jerking. can feel the car tremble. When i press the throttle to accelerate during travelling, the car will jerk again, and does not accelerate instantly as normal. after a while it accelerates to a higher cruising speed, then it's OK again. During jerking, the engine light flashes like 10 times. when the jerk stops, engine light becomes off again. I just changed engine oil and engine filter 2 months ago. Is this worn spark plugs, or ATF due to change (coz it's been a while), or both, or something else? Thanks.

yesterday went drinking with friends so i took a cab to meet them instead of driving. got a wish cab and the thing is, the cab driver keeps pressing and letting off the gas.. i realised he pressed the gas whenever the RPm hits 2.5 and let the gas off when it hits 3. I felt like riding on a boat on a wavy ocean, seriously i though my stomach was protesting... wanted to throw out. y did he do that? save petrol? can save mei?

I came across quite a number of car forums that actually discussed shifting/engaging gears with pressing the clutch! http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=555076 http://www.superhonda.com/forum/archive/in...p/t-110759.html http://www.f-body.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1913 http://www.yotor.org/wiki/en/ma/Manual%20t...20technique.htm These posts seem to suggest that shifting/engaging gears without pressing the clutch can be done...and if done right, cause no wear and tear on the gear box. If done wrong, you'd probably hear a grinding sound, which means that your gear box (tranny and synchro) is taking a beating). What I want to know is this (which is the reason why I went in search for this topic anyway) - the abovementioned threads talk about clutchless gear shifting while the car is in motion. In my case, I had accidentally engaged the gear without pressing the clutch when my car was stationary (in fact, the engine was switched off). Will this be detrimental to the gearbox? I ask this because I didn't even know I had accidentally engage the gear as there wasn't any grinding sound at all. I only realized I had engaged the gear when I turned on the ignition and the car jerked forward and stalled. Any expert opinion on this will be GREATLY appreciated.
