  1. AS MANY as one in three men in Singapore could be suffering from premature ejaculation (PE), according to a study. PE, a devastating condition for a man, is defined as a lack of control on a man's part during intercourse, resulting in ejaculation prior to or within one minute of penetration, said Associate Professor George Lee Eng Geap from the University of Malaya and Monash University. Although the poll did not include Singapore, Prof Lee, who is part of the study's steering committee, said: "We believe the results to be applicable to Singapore, because a similar study done in Europe in 2007 also showed a similar result. PE is a problem that cuts across ethnicity and age groups." The Asia-Pacific Premature Ejaculation Prevalence And Attitude Study surveyed nearly 5,000 men, aged 18 to 65, from 10 Asia-Pacific countries, including China, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, South Korea and Malaysia. The causes of the problem are complex, ranging from the psychological to the physiological, said Prof Lee. A person who secretly had intercourse at home, and was anxious of being found out by his parents, for instance, could develop PE later in life, he said. The problem could also be genetic in nature, he added. There may be a solution: American company Janssen-Cilag has recently submitted its medication, Dapoxetine, to the health authorities here for review. The pill is the only known medication that can treat the condition and is currently available in seven European Union countries, including Sweden, Austria and Italy. Outside of Europe, the medicine is available only in New Zealand and South Korea. Dapoxetine is supposed to boost the ejaculation-delaying hormone serotonin, by preventing or delaying the breakdown of serotonin in the body. In effect, this would help maintain higher levels of the hormone in the body, which would in turn help to delay ejaculation. Other treatments for PE include behavioural therapy like counselling, or topical treatments like sprays, numbing gels or condoms. However, there are drawbacks to some of these treatments. For example, numbing gel or sprays can desensitise the penis, causing a loss of sexual enjoyment, said Prof Lee. The condition can seriously injure a man's relationship with his partner. "PE can have a devastating impact on the relationship between men and their partners," said Prof Lee. "The impact extends not just to a man's self-esteem, but also to a woman's fulfillment and, ultimately, to the entire relationship." 2. Hi all, need some advise on premature tyre wear. I had complained my tyres being very noisy with the "helicopter sound" and sent car for check. Was told that my tyres are "eating" on the inner part. Now my 4 tyres are gone (less than 1yr). I am trying to find out what is the problem so that my new set of tyres wont have the same problem. I changed to 225/45/r17 all round for purpose of rotating but I had also been told by 1 w/s that I have to be on 245/45/r17 on the rear so there wont be uneven wear. He said it is because the car rear comes originally cambered out by default and if the tyre is too thin, uneven wear sets in. any advises? my car is IS250 TIA
  3. Hi. During tyre rotation, I just realised that my left front tyre is almost worn out (tire wear indicator disappeared) and now it is at the rear wheel. I am goIng for a wheel alignment at Kenny. Should I change the tyre or change 2 tyres or change all four? I will be travelling to Kl in June. Any recommended tyre shops at AMK AutoPoint?
  4. Last September, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Honda looking for restitution for 750,000 late model Accord and Acura TSX owners. The suit claimed that a design defect in a new braking system led to excessive force on the rear brake pads that reduced the lifespan of the pads from 70,000 miles to under 20,000 miles. The cost to replace those rear pads? The suit claims the average total is about $150, but if the rotors were damaged, the price can spike to $250 or more. A report in The New York Times shows that the months of legal wrangling has paid off for 750,000 owners of 2008 and 2009 Accords and the 2009 (plus a few 2010 models) Acura TSX. Honda has reportedly agreed to settle the suit without admitting responsibility or any wrongdoing, while also providing cash to customers with the brakes in question. Owners who have already gotten their brakes done will receive one half of the cost of repairs, or a maximum of $125, whichever is less. The owners in question will also receive $150 towards the cost of a set of new rear brake pads that Honda says will last longer than the units being replaced. The law firm handling the case will reportedly receive $2 million for its efforts. In total, Honda could be on the hook for well over $100 million if all affected owners receive new brakes. With the class-action suit settled, the next step is for Judge Margaret M. Morrow of the United States District Court for the Central District of California to give the agreement an official seal of approval in May.
  5. Hi guys I have a friend, who has the habit of changing gear before the car reaches enough rpm. It will cause a slowdown in picking up speed in the next speed in the next gear. In fact, for every gear, he does the same thing. When he reaches only 50, he changes gear to the 5th. Apart from increasing the FC, what will other impact be? A faster wearing out of cluth disc? Any advice?
  6. it all started last saturday when me and my uncle was out for prata at jalan kayu. car was fine until on the way back, suddenly the aircon wasnt cold at all, and thinking it was the refrigerant, drove on as usual and reached home shortly after. the next day, father drove to work with the car and on the way back, the radiator gave way(it happened before, once), father went to nearby petrol station and top up immediately, got scalded abit. managed to drive home and call for tow truck. the estimated cost of repairing is about 1k (overhaul? not sure), now he decided to scrap the car as its about 9 years old, COE was high then rather sad now as im beginning to like that car , rev high high, change gear, etc. was hoping to hone my driving skills more with it. what new car is his mind? stay tuned to find out
