Just wondering if this is a 'normal' or unfair practice. I booked a Cat-A car from a top AD here about 1 mth before, when COE was $67k and the car price reflected as such. During the May 1st bidding, SE says they bidded at 68k, but COE went to 68.6k. Then came May 2nd bid, SE then says they bidded at under 65k instead !?!???? and alas did not get the COE which ended at 66.6k. Thought i paid at a price based on $67k COE, why did the AD shortchange me by bidding lower ?? Is this common?

Despite all the bad publicity about FT and so on we do have some horrible locals too Woman visits dentist, ends up swallowing 3cm long needle Monday, Feb 13, 2012 YourHealth, AsiaOne Suffering from a toothache, a 23-year-old hotel employee went to a dentist, only to narrowly escape death from accidentally swallowing a 3cm long needle which almost punctured her small intestine. Ms Yang told Chinese daily Wanbao that she visited a dentist for a toothache in her left jaw. As the dentist said the decayed tooth could not be extracted immediately, the dentist used a 3cm long needle to clean the roots of her teeth. According to her, the dentist, who was not named, kept spraying medicated water into her mouth, which caused her to choke. She then sat up coughing, not realising the needle was still in her mouth. As a result, she swallowed the needle. Ms Yang said she strangely did not feel any pain at that time or any sensation of the needle stabbing her throat. She claims that the dentist did not take action to remedy the situation immediately, and only told her what had happened after a five minute discussion with his assistant. Shocked, she questioned whether there would be any danger to her life. The dentist then assured her that if the needle is naturally excreted, there would be no problem. However, he later advised her to get an X-ray. That night, she said she started to experience a sharp pain in her abdomen. Feeling uneasy, she went to the clinic the next day to complain. Accompanied by the clinic assistants, she went to a hospital for an X-ray, where they confirmed the presence of the needle in her small intestine. The hospital staff added that if the needle were to be allowed to be naturally excreted, it would pose the danger of puncturing the small intestine. Forever traumatised She was immediately sent for an emergency operation. She was hospitalised for three days and later took two weeks of medical leave. She spent a total of $4,000 in medical bills, borne by the clinic. Ms Yang from China claims the events left her traumatised and suffering from depression. "I only dared to tell my parents what had happened after the operation. Every time I think that I am still young, and uncertain whether there will be future side effects, my emotions will become unstable and I will become depressed," she said. She said she has been dealt such a blow that she keeps crying. Having loss her appetite, she also has lost 4kg and now only weighs 44kg. The surgery has also left her with three scars, with the largest being 7cm long. She has asked for $10,000 in compensation from the clinic. However, as the clinic is only willing to pay $8,000, the two sides are still negotiating. Ms Yang said she earns a basic salary of $600, and has to work overtime to hit a thousand dollars, the majority of which she sends home. Although she did not have to pay for her medical expenses, she wants compensation for the time taken for her recovery, as she could not earn overtime pay. She said she has asked for $10,000 as compensation for both her economic loss and mental trauma. The clinic at first offered to compensate $5,000, but later upped the amount to $8,000.

http://www.facebook.com/notes/chen-s...65853076813294 Forward After much thought and consideration, I have decided to retire from active practice as a partner of the Davis Polk law firm with effect from July. It is quite clear to me that given my new responsibilities as MP I will not be able to continue practicing law the way I have in the last twenty years. Law is in my blood and no doubt it will be part of my life. Meanwhile, my retirement from the partnership will afford me more time for my family, to serve constituency and country, and to explore alternative work arrangements. I wish to thank my partners for what I received over the years: their best efforts to aid my professional success and advancement, and the opportunity to use my best faculties to our common benefit. The same goes to our colleagues and clients. I have had many good years with the firm and leave with fond memories and many friendships. On this new journey for Singapore, to everyone who has in some way extended to me encouragement, support and hope, you have my gratitude for reaffirmation. In many ways, this is as much our journey as it is my journey: let us forge our way forward for a better Singapore for all Singaporeans.

Well, I am still one of them. I will let engine warm up for around 30s or so before moving off. Purpose is to ensure that the oil has flow thru entire engine and properly lubricate all moving parts. I believe 30s is more than sufficient already. Then just drive normally but don't rev the engine to high RPM (I think anything below 2.5K is ok) till its properly warmed up. Do you guys still have this practice?

Renault driver Fernando Alonso has set the fastest time in the second practice session for this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix as he prepares for his glamour move to Ferrari next season. The Spaniard completed the circuit at Interlagos slightly quicker than Toro Rosso's Sebastien Beumi. Brawn GP's Rubens Barrichello kept up the pressure on his team-mate and championship leader Jenson Button by clocking the third-fastest time. Button could only manage fifth-fastest, while the other title contender Sebastien Vettel was seventh in the timesheets for Red Bull.

Bros, saw this on stomp website; http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singapor...nt.jsp?id=46363 Blue Suzuki Shift, carplate SGC4804Y, husband drive car, wife 'chopped' parking lot by standing in front of the empty lot, preventing others from reversing into that lot. But still, one-sided story from the guy who posted this news but from the way i see it, seems like he/she not lying leh... what u guys think abt this kind of practice? Should encourage or condemn? Actually this is the first time i seen such thing here, haven't encounter it personally yet. If i'm the driver and someone standing in front of the empty parking lot 'chopping' the lot, I will just horn and reverse.. worse come to worse, i will just let my car remain there, and wait for the car park authority to come and see who's in the wrong.. these kind of pple.. CONDEMN big time.

from TV, i can't see any single podium girls standing beside the drivers during the trophy ceremony (is this normal)...or is it because sinhell girls cmi on the screen and on the global map, can only see them lining up at the hallway, leading to the rooms where the drivers need to weigh after the race, only cheer and clap hands when the drivers emerged from the room...poor thing...to have a shot at the fame and ends up in the hallway...

Hi, Juz wondering if it is common practice to leave your car and keys with the workshop for repair/repaint services without any proper handover documents? Wait suai suai, tiok smuggled away or god knows what might happen to your beloved ride. Is this widely acceptable? Any experience on such?
-
Hi, Went down to make the downpayment for my new ride today. I will probably get my car next week. The SE told me he need to get hold of my IC for a week for purpose of the full settlement of the existing loan settlement. In addition, it is also required for the De-registration of the existing car. Actually I am not too comfortable with letting my IC to someone else. But is this a common practice?
