I am really glad the email saga is fixed :) On a separate note: Can I ask: Can we be allowed to edit our posts pasts the usual 15 min limit. IMO, it's too restrictive - revising the first post in a thread for example, allows us to add more info, links and other useful stuff to the thread, so we keep track of useful posts that appear in the middle of the thread. This makes it easier to find important info.. Eg, a thread begun on a car owner's thread, can be edited along the way, to add FC links, places to buy accessories, places to service etc.. Another reason to edit may just be erroneous info, or stuff that a poster regrets, or a picture that was not nice. This can promote more peace and let everyone get along more.. So how about it

We have seen an increasing number of members that makes sexual references indiscriminately and unconstructively, thereby degrading threads to sex-related topics. This is irksome to members who are genuinely interested in the discussion. It is also a violation of the forum guidelines and etiquette. Generally we issue warning (yellow cards) to such offending members. However, we have been lax on this as we understand that some members may be making the violation unintentionally. But this has to stop somewhere, so with immediate effect, the MCF moderating team will clamp down hard on such sexual innuendo. While we will carry on to issue warnings, those whom we judge to be unintentional offenders will be slapped on the wrists with a big Dislike of up to 30 points per post. Sexual, non-family friendly discussions will be labeled with a NSFW. Please bring all your sexual discussions there. All forum members are encouraged to issue dislike points to those who makes irrelevant posts with sexual innuendo in non-sexual discussion threads. Examples as below. http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2695247-asian-countries-self-drive-holiday-story/?p=5255010 http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2695507-roc-army-rangers-have-their-first-female-member/page-3 http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2695814-guy-got-a-date-through-youtube/?do=findComment&comment=5263547

Seem that the forum have changed it's format not to show the post with other member replies. Instead it is showing the hierarchy discussion. I find this very unintuitive/not user friendly. Mods' any comments?

Every topic I click now does not show normally. It will show like a condensed tree where I click a portion, it will only show that portion. Does anyone know how can I set it back to view the forum normally? Help please..

Toyota posted a surprisingly large 209.4 billion yen ($2.2 billion) profit for their fiscal year, which concluded on March 31. The amount was a massive improvement over their previous annual net total, a 437 billion yen loss. Despite the profit, vehicle sales fell by 4.36% to 7.24 million. Even though the company sold 330,000 less units, company officials still expect the next fiscal year's income to improve by 48%, totaling 310 billion yen. The profit is nothing short of a triumph for Toyota, dogged by the aftermath of several recall scandals that affected at least nine million vehicles worldwide. Toyota is under fire in the U.S. where government agencies are investigating how the automaker announces recalls, and the timeliness of their actions. U.S. law stipulates that automakers must make notifications of safety problems in their vehicles within five days of discovering the issue. Many of Toyota's most popular vehicles have been the center of attention due to accusations of malfunctioning acceleration, braking, and steering mechanisms. Several lawsuits have already been filed against the company by consumers and shareholders, while the automaker has had to pay a $16.4 million fine levied by the U.S. government. Source: nytimes.com

WENZHOU, CHINA - Local prosecutors in Zhejiang province have started to look into an alleged rape case which local police refused to investigate. Police in Wenzhou of Zhejiang last Friday turned down an investigation request from Wu Hongjuan, a 24-year-old female worker, because of insufficient evidence to back up her claim that she had been raped by her boss about 30 times over the past two years. Following the police's refusal, Wu posted her story online on Sunday out of "anger" and the post aroused heated discussion. The procuratorate in Longwan district of Wenzhou, which has the power to oversee police work, then intervened in Wu's case and further investigation began on Monday, local media reported. "We're trying to collect as much information as possible, but we'll need time to reach a conclusion," an unnamed official was quoted as saying. Wu told China Daily on Thursday that she told local police about being raped by her boss, Zhang Qihua, last Thursday after dialing 110. However, she was told on Friday her case could not be filed because there was not enough evidence to suggest it could be a rape case. On Sunday, Wu posted a detailed description of her experiences on three well-known forums. "I posted my story along with photos and videos purely to express my discontent and feeling of helplessness at the local police's conclusion. I didn't realize the story would spread in such a short time," she said. Wu, from East China's Anhui province, came to Wenzhou with her boyfriend and started a job in Zhejiang Tianjin New Energy Science & Technology Co Ltd two years ago. She became an administration officer after a few months. During her work in the company, Wu claimed she was pulled out of the office and raped by Zhang 30 times in his office, toilets and dormitory when other colleagues were out of the office, she said. After keeping silent for about two years, Wu claimed she could no longer bear the mental pressure and physical attacks. "I called my uncle, who majored in law, as I didn't think I could handle the sexual abuse any longer. He suggested I call the police," Wu said. Wu said Zhang contacted her two days after the case hit the Internet via a third person to discuss whether they could resolve it behind closed doors. Wu refused and Zhang has not tried to reach her since. Zhang Qihua, the chairman of the company, turned down an interview request from China Daily on Thursday. Heated discussion has spread among netizens, who have offered both support and criticism. Some netizens even called or sent her text messages. "Most calls and texts I've received are of support and sympathy. However, I don't have the courage to browse the online comments because I know there are many people who doubt my motivation for exposing such an intimate, personal story," Wu said. Some netizens wonder whether Wu had been willing to have sexual contact with her boss, otherwise she would have reported it to the police much earlier. Liu Mingyin, a lawyer in Anhui province, said the current evidence, mainly a few photos, are not sufficient to determine a rape case. "However, the police should not have turned down the investigation request," he said. Wu Jiansheng, a lawyer from Zhejiang Gaoce Law Office, also said the decision made by the local police not to file the case was thoughtless. "However, I believe the online discussion and media reports will push the police into making the correct decision," he said. Wu said she and her boyfriend, who has been supporting her since learning of the issue last Friday, are waiting for a decree from local prosecutors. "I tell myself I have to stay strong and positive for the decree. I hope I will get a fair verdict soon," Wu said. -- CHINA DAILY/ASIA NEWS NETWORK

GM posts record sales in Asia US auto giant General Motors may be fighting bankruptcy on plunging sales at home but its cars are selling at record levels Asia. Bailed out by the US government recently, GM announced Thursday that it set a new company record for vehicle sales in the Asia Pacific region in 2008. Its sales in the region rose 2.7 percent from the previous year to 1,475,093 units, a company statement said. A further 766,400 vehicles and 599,080 complete knockdown (CKD), or unassembled vehicle sets were exported from the region to other parts of the world. "GM once again outperformed the Asia Pacific market as a whole despite the global economic downturn and credit shortage, which affected most country markets and major automakers in the second half of 2008," said Nick Reilly, GM group vice president. "We benefited from rising demand for our products in the region's key emerging markets," said Reilly, who is also GM Asia Pacific president. In China, domestic sales of GM and its joint ventures rose 6.1 percent to a record 1,094,561 units, the company said. GM was led by increasing demand for products from the Chevrolet and Wuling brands, which registered double digit sales growth. Sales in India increased 9.4 percent to 65,702 units in 2008, a new record for GM, once again led by the Chevrolet Spark mini-car, which accounted for nearly half of sales. It also was helped by the start of regular production at GM's second vehicle manufacturing facility in India, the 140,000-unit Talegaon plant, in September. GM also saw sales in Japan rising 32.0 percent to 10,865 vehicles in 2008, benefiting from a strategy that focused on offering selected products from the Cadillac, Saab and HUMMER brands. GM registered modest sales growth in Indonesia and the Philippines while in Vietnam, sales jumped 45.6 percent to a new record in that country. "GM remains optimistic about the future in Asia Pacific," said Reilly. "We continue to invest in the region's emerging and mature markets to ensure our continued growth in one of the world's most vibrant regions." The US Treasury recently gave a four-billion-dollar emergency loan for GM, part of a 13.4-billion-dollar rescue package for the troubled automaker and Chrysler to stave off collapse amid tight credit and dismal sales. Crazy, huh?

Hi administrators, in the old forum, there used to be an indication on whether each sub forum had new posts and new topics added. Is there somewhere on this new forum where we can see that info? Was wondering because it would be less meaningful to enter a sub forum when no new topics have been posted since the last visit.
