Local actor Dai Peng passed away two days ago (May 12) at the age of 75. He had been diagnosed with lymphoma two weeks ago, the same cancer that fellow veteran Huang Wenyong had also suffered from. About a month ago, Dai Peng, whose real name is Dai Dexin, told his son Dai Li Yao, 36, that he felt strange and lethargic, reported Shin Min Daily News. Two weeks later, hospital tests on his bone marrow came back with his diagnosis: Lymphoma. The doctor also told them the prognosis was not optimistic, and chemotherapy had to be done as soon as possible. However, Dai Peng experienced side effects to the chemotherapy drugs, so treatment was stopped upon recommendation by the doctor. Dai Peng had starred in MediaCorp dramas Kopi-O II and Driven By A Car, amongst others. Mediacorp veteran Huang Wenyong had passed away earlier of the same cancer. He was 60 years old. Oh no, another collectable oldie gona be retained. Hope MHA has the budget for an additional head count & has least some place catered for him. Whatever it is, I sincerely hope he will not be placed in PMO together with the rest. The again, place him here, there or anywhere we still have to pay for his multi-million dollar salary right? Silly me... Ho Peng Kee will continue to have a role in MHA By Tanya Fong | Posted: 17 April 2011 2031 hrs SINGAPORE : Senior Minister of State for Law and Home Affairs Ho Peng Kee will continue to have a role in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to spearhead Volunteers Outreach and Development. Associate Professor Ho, who announced his retirement from politics two weeks ago, said Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam had requested that he continues to play a role in the MHA. Mr Shanmugam had said Associate Professor Ho's stepping down is a big loss, adding that Associate Professor Ho has built up deep linkages with the several volunteer organisations. There are currently 11,000 MHA volunteers. Associate Professor Ho said that he hopes that in continuing as a link to volunteers, he can help lift volunteerism in Singapore. He added that emergency preparedness and resilience cannot be solely driven by the government. Citizens too must play a part in looking out for one another, and this is where volunteerism plays a crucial role. Associate Professor Ho said: "What I have agreed to do is to continue to leverage on my deep ties with these people and to continue to 'ra-ra' them to make their volunteering experience satisfactory. "It is not because I am leaving and they just want to do it for me. It is something which we have been thinking about the key roles volunteers play. Basically volunteers, they need a link. They need recognition. It is a nice platform to continue some association in a relevant way." - CNA/ms

to me, when u drive really fast tru corners n tailgating ppl for no reason is to show off... i do dislike these ppl but honestly sometime i do feel envy when i saw the performance cars they drive and i always LLST n give way... when i say performance cars, i dun mean supercars... a normal jap car like wrx, evo, rx or ctr etc are consider good performance cars to me liao... to me, its ok to be showing off if u actually have something to show off... but juz now when i was on my way home from melaka, i saw 2 'zhng' until like transformer HYUNDAI GETZ + RED PLATE drive tru the twisted roads between the m'sia n sg customs like they were in a race, tailgating me n a merc but NOT SO FAST tru corners...haha.. wif all due respect to getz and all other budget car (like mine) and OPC owners who treat our ride as a pt A-B car, i am telling these 2 guys, "u r driving a cheap car, u cant even affort a normal plate car and for god sake, u r on ur way back to sg after pumping m'sia subsidised petrol!!!! wat u have to show off???" lastly, i would like to plea with these 2 drivers not to drive like tat coz juz now i nearly lost control of my car as i cannot stop luffing at u guys driving in ur 'tiong chia'
