Hi, My parked car was involved in a hit&run accident and was captured by my dashboard cam, therefore I have submitted to the TP for investigation and left my car unrepaired. I have received the closure of the investigation from the TP with a letter stating the vehicle was charged. I went on to call my insurer and asked whether can i proceed with the repair of the car damages, their answer is you cant UNLESS the other party makes a report to his insurer first, and even if the 3rd party makes a report to his insurer now his insurer may not be paying for the damages because its more than 24 hours - it will depends on the insurer T&Cs, to share its more than 2 months. So my question is - If the 3rd party decides not to make a report, can i still claim? Secondly, if he makes a report to his insurer and his insurer does not want to be involve, does it means it will be a lawsuit? Thirdly, it is a commercial van that hit my car, with the license plate am i able to find out which company owns this van? Troubled.

Another kuku driver ramming parked cars in CP... From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...hen_parked.html Not safe from accidents, even when parked: Car slams into vehicles in carpark The red car apparently crashed into a parked Toyota Vios, pushing it into another vehicle and dislodging its front bumper, said STOMPer carCrashes. The STOMPer said: "I was in my room surfing net and heard a loud boom. "Initially I thought it was some motorcycle that skidded, but when I came out from my room, this was what I saw. "The silver Airwave will be scratched, and the Vios' bumper has dropped off. "It was also literally knocked out from its parking lot." A similar accident happened last month, when a 24-year-old female driver crashed into three parked cars. A pedestrian was also hurt in the incident.

Recently I came across another one of these mad videos where this particular owner posts videos of him doing gravel rallying, burnouts, drifts and the likes. Pretty mad stuff in my opinion. Makes me wonder why one would do that to their cars. Maybe the owner is sick of the cars? Or perhaps he is sick of people commenting that supercar owners can’t drive? On another note, you have owners who don’t even drive their cars (think of the collectors). I was recently at this local club and there was a string of nice assorted supercars parked nearby. I couldn’t help but to stop and digest what was in front of me. But that lasted only for a good three seconds because I thought it would be brilliant if these cars were barrelling down our F1 street circuit instead. (On a side note, organisers, please let us have a go at the street circuit.) I can understand why owners do not want to trash their cars or even drive it often. It may hurt its value, see. But leaving it at home or driving it to the nearby pub/club and then back does not give these supercars much justice. These sexy cars aren’t meant to be furnitures, see. So my question to all readers out there: If you were rich enough to own a supercar, would you drive it or just admire it?

A BMW car caught fire at a carpark in the Geylang Serai on Wednesday (Mar 27), reported STOMPer Wiism who came across the scene and called the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) for help. In his report, the STOMPer wrote: "Was walking by Block 2A in Geylang Serai at about 12.30pm on Mar 27 when I saw smoke coming out from under the hood of a parked BMW 7-series car. "Thinking that something was amiss and being afraid that the car might explode, I called the SCDF and quickly moved to a safe distance from the car. "The car seemed to be unoccupied at the time. "As I waited anxiously for the SCDF to arrive. I noticed some other passers-by try to extinguish the fire by using a fire extinguisher and the water hose, which can be very dangerous. "Nevertheless, the SCDF came promptly to extinguish the fire and thankfully, no one suffered any injuries." http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...ai_carpark.html

Bro Intel, Sorry to improvise on your thread "Idiot driver stop in front of the ERP" to use it for my new thread title because of the similar behaviour in terms of epic stupidity displayed by our fellow drivers But, but, but got any copyright issues not? Anyway the following article is from ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/premium/forum-...e-parking-20121 Building's staff leaves family in the lurch over inconsiderate parking Published on Oct 25, 2012 MY WIFE had parked our vehicle at Thomson Plaza to accompany my son to his music lesson. When they returned, a car had blocked ours and two others from leaving. When she sought help from the building's security, the officer at the information counter told her that there was nothing to be done until the car owner appeared. He added that even the police or Land Transport Authority could not set matters right because the car was within the building's jurisdiction. I decided to make my way to Thomson Plaza to resolve the problem. When my wife asked the same officer to use the public address system to inform the driver to remove his car, he said he could not do so without obtaining permission from the building's management. Much later, an announcement was made. My wife then asked if the management would wheel-clamp the car since it was parked illegally. The same officer said the management did not practise this. But another security officer who overheard our conversation brought out a wheel clamp, to my wife's surprise. When he walked to the car, intending to clamp it, he was stopped by the first officer, but after some discussion, the car was wheel-clamped. When I sought to speak with higher management, I was told there was no one on duty. So I waited for help from the police and, when they did arrive, they told me that the driver had appeared and was being instructed to remove his car. What was upsetting is that the building management rendered no help at all throughout the entire episode. This was compounded by the rude and unhelpful behaviour of the security officer. I would venture that if we had not taken matters into our own hands, such as informing him that we had sought police assistance, he would have continued to ignore our pleas for help. The STOMPer was not clear about this "stationary" car. Was the car on the road waiting behind another vehicle or at a traffic light junction waiting to move off OR was it illegally parked along the road when the bus hit it? If it is the former then the owner's insurer can file a valid claim against the bus company but if the car was instead parked along a road which it was not supposed to then it would be a different scenario and best outcome could be a 50:50 claim yes? From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...ly_damaged.html Posted on 15 May 2012 Parked car badly damaged after SBS bus changes lane and hits it STOMPer Huile witnessed a SBS bus swing recklessly into a lane at Airline Road, hitting a stationary car and badly damaging it. Huile said: "This SBS bus swinged suddenly into the lane recklessly and hit a stationary car at Airline Road at 8.30am yesterday. "The car was very badly damaged and part of the bus was damaged as well but the bus did not stop."

Another clown, this time a young one, caught engaging in an anti-social act What was he thinking then? He should be caught and sternly warned of his actions before compensating the victim for his stupid act From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...ked_car_at.html Posted on 28 Jan 2012 Caught in the act: Youth scratches parked car at Compassvale Walk STOMPer Wei says this youth was caught on his car camera in the act of scratching his vehicle, which was parked at a multi-storey carpark at Compassvale Walk. He hopes that someone with knowledge of his whereabouts will come forward with information. The STOMPer wrote: "To all road users, please look out for this teenager who scratched my car. "The pictures are a bit blurry. However, the teenager is wearing glasses and around 160cm tall. "Especially to those who stay in he Seng Kang Compassvale Walk area please beware. "God bless him. "If any kind soul happens to see this teen, please contact STOMP with information."

Who's the guy who has never parked on a illegal place? Well, everyone did it at some point. The problem is when you have to face a severe punishment for that. No I'm not talking about a ticket, I'm talking about a car smasher. In Lithuania, mayor A.Zuokas is fighting ilegal parking in Vilnius with the help of a military tank. Can you believe it? See the way he smiles when smashing a top Mercedes-Benz. But don't worry this is only part of a campaign to promote the use of bicycles in Lithuania...nevertheless...FUNNY VIDEO!!!

read this news in Xin Ming last night (sorry can't find any online version) the story goes like this... this black Malaysian car parked in front of 2 cars in an open carpark at 7am+.. The owner was a supplier who made his delivery in the morning, and went for breakfast nearby after couldn't find any lots one of the trapped cars waited an hour, honked non-stop and in the end called the police after an hour, the Malaysian owner turned up and quarreled with the owner of the trapped car... he claimed he left his contact number on his windscreen and nobody called him he also challenged the owner of the trapped car to crash his car if he wanted to get out of his lot, saying he needed a new car anyway in the end he was fined $50 i understand putting contact number on the windscreen is a common practise in Malaysia, but hey this is Singapore... and to think the Malaysian driver can be so yaya when he was in the wrong it's just like we go Malaysia and starting using tissue papers to book tables and insist we are right

Haiz... after seeing all the various stories on MCF of people hitting parked cars and driving off, today is my turn to suffer the same fate. Have previously experienced a few times before, but minor dents and scratches. Today's one is bigger scale. But fortunately still not so bad as many of the other reported incidents, so I guess should be thankful for that. I'll just have to ignore and continue. Dun wanna spend the money to repair this - should be 2 panels damage - so perhaps about $200 to repair? Happened at my office building carpark this morning; saw it when I was going for lunch. Too bad no building cameras pointing that direction. Just one of those days....

i didnt of coz..... but seriously... how much petrol will the driver waste just to straighten the car?

Nowadays, many Taxi Drivers are behaving like those in Penang. Wait at good places to pick up passengers. They Park and Wait outside Condominiums sometimes 2~3 in a row on Double Yellow-line. Don't mistaken for them on Call as they take anyone. Though I don't disapprove of them earning their livelihood, but sometimes they Obstruct the Left Lane and cause the morning traffic jam. My place, they parked in front of Bus Stop which the Condo entry/exit. The worst thing is my place downstairs - NO Taxis roaming. I have to walk 500m to the nearest Condo to take Cab to Airport for business trip... ALL the Condos around my area got 2 to 3 waiting. Why see HDB owners no UP ?

Parked my car at Plaza Singapura on Friday. When I return at the end of the day, shocked to see my front bumper badly scratched. And my number plate ripped off. Thinking of getting a car camera. Anyone with any recommendations?

Hi all, Do you usually park your car with side mirror folded? IMHO, parked with side mirror unfolded serves as a deterent and protection against door dings for the front door. I mean with the side mirror sticking out, people tend to pay more attention. What do you think? Regards,

http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/photo/getFullSizePhoto.do?id=23090 STOMPer Sharlene wonders why this jacked-up Land Rover, that has been parking at an HDB carpark in Commonwealth for months, has not been issued with summons. "There are no parking tickets or an RFID disc on the car. Not sure if this is a foreign licence plate also," she says. The STOMPer adds: "Maybe because it has been jacked up, so the parking attendant can't reach to put any summon tickets? "Or is it because the tyres do not touch the ground, it is not considered as 'parked'?" The STOMPer says the Land Rover is depriving other vehicles of parking space. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singapor...nt.jsp?id=24429

http://newpaper.asia1.com.sg/news/story/0,...,160948,00.html The idiotic owner, imo, deserves it although the vandal is not an angel either. In this instance, though, I second what the vandal did.........

Hi MCFians, I just encountered this particular scenario at a MSCP earlier. I parked in a lot and placed a parking coupon on my dashboard. Upon exiting my vehicle, I noticed a car key left in the front passenger door of the vehicle parked beside me. I pondered for a few seconds and decided to employ poll option 2: "Open the door, Remove the Key, Leave it on Seat & Close the Door (Doors Unlocked)". What would you do if you were in my shoes?

Driving up my multi storey carpark as usual, will pass by my loves, upon seeing them, there is this sinking feeling something is just not right, one of them seems out of her parking lot, it's being knock down and brought up again, my beloved Yamaha. My car is scratched, i am ok, my car have dinks on the side...i am ok, but when my bike is being knocked down......THAT DRIVE ME CRAZY! Luckily this neighbour from the same level heard 2 loud bangs, stick her head out the window and saw the car leaving and she took the plate down. So.....I went to make a police report, idac accident report, paid $5.35 LTA and get a print out of the car's insurance company's name, sent my bike to Yamaha, and guess what, after a week, the driver got my number after TP gave him a ring and offered to pay for my repairs. 6 weeks for my bike to be repaired, still awaiting parts from Japan. From this incident, one lesson is learned, if knocked a parked vehicle, make damn sure no see us before we go or write a note and leave it on the vehical. By the way, the driver knock down my bike from his front as he was on the line.......
