Welcome to the Ring - where we congregate and go completely off-topic about what other forum members assume, perceive or think about who we are, what we say, and what we think! Let's do all the mud-slinging and sharing here, and not dilute the focus on the core topics in other threads! What say you?

Hearing some comments here about minimum wage (MW) and Hong Kong has just approved the bill for MW. Coming from business angle, MW increase operating cost, reduce competitiveness and it does not necessary increase productivity. From employee angle, MW guarantee you are paid market rate (really?) Who should benefit from MW, local or all works (even FW)? Will it be abused? by both employer and employee? Will it drive companies out result in more jobless? Lets discuss!

Hey guys. I've been living with a completely torn PCL for about 6 years already. Recently the knee is getting extremely unstable, visible loss of muscle mass around knee (quadriceps). MRIs over the year show that the ACL has elongated slightly. Back in '05 where technology did not permit it involved open surgery and there were often issues such as the instability in knee and inability to kneel etc. Need to ask if the arthroscopic surgery these days for PCL recon works well or if its a better option to get a knee brace. Please bear in mind that PCL recon often pales in comparison to ACL recon. If brace, would hinged braces off the shelf work well or custom brace? Please also recommend brand/type of brace/where to purchase/order. I do not mind wearing braces for extended periods of time. many many thanks.

Intends to sell the car since the car seldom use nowadays. The car with I.C.E installed and open pod. So should I restore it back to factory or should I sell it all together with the setup ? Which will fetch a better price to sell the car. Thanks ~

Hi all, I'm thinking of getting a 2 way car-alarm for my car because i tend to be forgetful whether i lock my car or not and also for an added assurance. Remote start would be a nice add-on for it. Currently, I'm looking at: 1) Pageguard PG-8000s 2) Steelmate 898G 3) Carscop CCFM9-RSV1 4) SPY LT118 (F8S) I've been reading reviews on forums but getting many mixed opinions within these 4 alarms. And now I am confused which one to get. My requirements are: A) Remote battery should be long lasting B) Range should be reasonable (not sure what range is reasonable to ask for though) C) Remote reflect the state of lock in car (display lock/unlock) D) Remote start I'm sure some of you have installed one of these in your cars . Do you mind giving me a quick unbiased opinion of which one should I select? Would like to install it this weekend. Thanks all in advance!!

Hi guys, I am doing a research on Jaguar automotive, & would be glad if you guys can contribute on your impression & knowledge of Jaguar (the automaker, not the dealer, Malayan Motors) Some of the things to trigger your mind are - How does it compare to its rival like BMW, Merc, Audi, Lexus, in your view. - Would you buy one, why? - Discuss on what do think of its current lineup & what it should include in future? Engine choice (Turbo charge, Hybrid, full electric, drivetrain (AWD, RWD, or even FWD), tranmission - Discuss on its history & prestige - Should it needs a Halo car like R8, , LFA, SLS in its current ? - Any others that I missed. Just so you guys know, this is not just a internet discussion, but part of a presentation I will bring with me to Coventry in July, & I really appreciate everyone's input. Cheers.

Hi bros, Judging by the current market right now with the high COE, is it better to buy a first hand car or 2nd hand? Or should just wait and see whether the COE might drop? Thanks! Badly need some advice!

Hi all, I would like to seek opinions on this 2 choices of colours for SSW Spider for my white Cs3. [Left: Gloss black with chrome outline, Right: Full hyper silver] My reason for choosing SSW is because it's affordable, acceptable quality with warranty, established brand, and I can choose to purchase individual rim in future if necessary. Anyone with opinions on which colour to choose? Also, ideas on other established brands with affordable pricing are welcomed. Thanks in advance!

What do you think of 2007 S500's for sale? Any reliability issues? The multi-contour seats attract me to the car a lot and that grunt of the V8... Please voice your honest opinion's. Thank You!

Hi All I recently changed from Bridgestone RE001 to Dunlop Sport Maxx (not TT). This morning, roads all wet as was raining. I noticed dat with the dunlop, when i jam brake just a bit, the ABD kicks in quite easily. With my RE001, only once did my ABS kick in and that was in a really hard braking situation (in fron of with the 5 cars not so lucky and got into a chain collision, i escaped). Does this mean the dunlops not so good cos lose grip more easily triggering the ABS. Quite scary. All constructive info/opinions welcome. Thanks.

Hi, Contemplating getting either the Garmin Nuvi 1350 or the Garmin Nuvi 255W. Anyone with prior experience with either of the aforementioned models? I could use some feedback. I read up the specs and features, it's more or less similar. Thanks!

Hi all, I'm now faced with a dilemma. I'll be going to Melbourne. Went to several online car rental sites hoping to book my car in advance. Pick it up from the airport. FYI, this is going to be a Great Ocean Road trip. I will be going all the way to Warrnambool, up to Halls Gap, then to Ballarat before returning the car back at th airport. I am shown cars from a lot of companies. All rental are for 7 days. At Europecar, I can rent a Skoda Octavia. With excess reduction to AUD350, costs me AUD637. Hertz, Avis, Budget and gave me all gave me a lot of other cars. Excess reduction to AUD350 all cost a whopping 550+ onwards. Then I came to this company. Offered me a powerful V6 Magna wagon (TF) which is used for AUD437 including excess reduction to AUD350, 2 booster seats plus GPS! Wife tell me she like new car. I told her this is a powerful older car. Other cars from richer tourists will have their balls shrinking if I bear down on them with a Magna! Is it worth it to rent a Magna? I assume it is well maintained since it is a rental vehicle. Don't care if it is scuffed or whatever. I'm only going to use it for 7 days.

A readers wrote to the ST Forum suggesting two scenarios and suggestion, I have my opinion but I will input them later. Whst is yours? 1) Entering expressway from a slip road. The writer cited Australian roads have traffic lights at the end of the slip road leading to the expressway that switches between green and red every 2 seconds. The writer noted that this reduces congestion. He also mentioned that traffics on expressway thus remains smooth and untroubled by vehicles joining in from slip road. 2) Australian hypermarts have desiganted bays where parking is free for between 2~4 hours. He noted that this help shoppers on quick errands. He reasoned that this system works because there are wardens who will ensure that the times are adhered to while Australian shoppers do not abuse the pick-and-gp rule. He deduced that though this reduces the revenue but it may help reduce congestion in carparks at shopping centres here in Singapore.

There are a few catch to the offer, and I seriously dunno how to advise her. I know some bros here are in the industry and prolly can give some advices. I can't mention the actual company but it is one of the coy in this list. Can help to give some insights whether these coys are good to work in? 1. Mango Media 2. Clearchannel 3. Dear Bros in this forum, I have been pondering over the past few months over the right model of resale 2.0L car to buy. My budget is about 50K to 65K MAX. I am currently driving a Nissan Sunny and intend to upgrade to 2.0L for smoother drive up North. 1.6L is not enough for me anymore. Personally, I am overwhelmed by the price and interior of the Mazda 5 SP. However I heard negative views about this car performance and cost of maintaining. Any Bro feel free to comment and vote the car of your choice if you were me. Thks!!

my friend has been found suspicious of taking 5 pens (corporate gifts) when the company realised there were 5 pens short before delivery to customer was made. It was just 5 pens with laser pointer and the company started a big hooha to investigate.. They went through all the videos from camera for the few days.. called in all the ones caught on video.. First round of questioning over.. then came another second round.. They called the second round "Disciplinary Inquiry". When asked what does that mean, as there were no disciplinary violations on the side of my friend. They said they 'highly suspect' he and 2 others took the pens. During second round they got in another manager supposedly to be neutral party, but instead he keep wanting to nail my friend as the highly suspected one as he was backfacing the camera too long at the area of where the pens were. When asked why not let police be involved, they said they will report to police. At least police will just say 'helping with the investigation' rather than 'you are highly suspected of taking' I have a few questions I hope bros/sis here can help.. 1. Up till now, is my friend considered being accused of taking the pens? 2. Can the company issue a letter and ask him to leave because they suspect him of taking? 3. Can he report to the police about the missing pens and let police investigate? 4. Can he demand for an apology after the investgation proved his innocence? 5. Can he take legal actions against the company, for suspecting/accusing? Thanks for all the advice and views in advance..
