Singaporeans Must be the Only Ones who think....
Old-driver posted a topic in General Car Discussion
That a $60,000 COE is cheap and starts buying cars now that the B & B cars are around the $100,000 mark Seems like the ADs are expecting crowds to return to the showrooms this weekend. Insane?- 109 replies

This was what a talented young person who is studying in a prestigious university overseas for PhD said: TT huh? G'bye Singapore I'm not coming back to live anymore. The reasons and excuses this govt gives to bring in policies are exactly the same ones that are driving our real local talent away. And I doubt this person is the only one having this same sentiment and the same plans for their future. In fact more and more parents are planning for a future for their children overseas. If only LHL would shift focus from Singapore to Singaporeans instead, things would be a lot better.

Just curious:-...... Not text books hor, but just any other books. (adult books counted, since they are not considered text books, hahahaha) Strange it may sounds (or may not?), i can count with my two hands the total number of complete books i have read from birth to now..... i got a feeling i have set the lowest record ever.... i also have piles of un-finished mags... by the time i pick them up try to finish them, they are already 1-2 years out of date..... I think I spent too much time sleeping/napping. Hope you guys are at the other end aka at least 4 books, or many more, a month? yes/no? ps:- next time i meet my pri school teachers, i will tell them "what, read more books?... no need lah, I survived with just less than 10 books in more than 40 years...." and see how they will react but to be exact, i do enjoy reading articles in journals, online, etc, maybe they are short and therefore manage to retain my attentions.... i know I am missing alot, will try starting to read more books one day in the not so far future

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_N57 Take a look at the latest BMW diesel engine esp. the twin turbo engine. Its HP is 302HP with a whopping 600Nm of torque!! By contrast, BMW's N54B30 (a 3L turbo engine) produces ~330HP and 450Nm torque. Can fight even evos and WRX easily (stock for stock of course). But the 600Nm toruqe allows the diesel car to pull ahead long before the WRX or Evo's turbo kicks in....

Sorry, some whinning here. I feel that poor driving by many people is the main result of jams (of course other factors like road designs and traffic lights are sometimes the culprit instead). From my observation, I realise than many people like to cut in from lane 1 to leftmost lane when they are around 100-200m from the express way exits (sometimes even closer). If they can't cut in, they just slow down and causes cars behind to brake and slow down as well. As cars get slower, they get closer to each other and its even more difficult to cut in. then drivers have to slow down even more to try to change lanes... The end result in a jam at expressway exits. I ever did see people coming to literally a halt (like 10-20KM/H)on lane 2 so they can cut in to lane 4 to exit the expressway on CTE. You horn them them also don't care. Then you have to stop with them. Few notorious spots are CTE exit to PIE, CTE exit to bukit timah, PIE to BKE and more..... This is terrible driving.....

Ok I admit I hv a habit of leaving my bags unattended but I only do after taking out important things like wallet, handphone, keys. However, we hv always presume that crowded areas, unlikely places for thieves to strike but it is not true to say that "most dangerous is the safest". It probably is true for those thieves cos everyone is so engrossed in their own affair and locals generally are not that observant let alone civic-minded. Therefore, let's try to make an efforts to keep our soil safe as not all non-locals are here for sightseeing. Couple eyed unattended bags Aug 29, 2008 [/color] A FILIPINO couple who committed a series of thefts in the Orchard Road and Vivo City area has been arrested. The couple, a 28-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man, targeted items left unattended by shoppers at shopping malls and eateries, a police statement said on Thursday. After several probes and numerous stakeouts, police spotted the couple behaving suspiciously at a hotel along Orchard Rd on Aug 28. The couple was caught red handed when they took a handbag left unattended on a chair at the hotel's coffee outlet. The victim's belongings, valued at about $1,000, were recovered intact. An assortment of items such as gold jewellery, laptops, handphones, perfumes and handbags valued at about $20,000 - believed to belong to victims of other thefts - were also subsequently recovered from the couple. The couple will be charged on Friday for theft. If convicted, they face a maximum of three years in jail and a fine. How come no deportment and barred from coming to S'pore for non-locals??? This way would serve as a deterrent plus no need to waste $ on free housing.
